HARDWARE AND JUNOS
MX platforms ranging from the
MX5 to the MX960 are capable of
terminating subscribers.
MX 5 – MX80 platforms with Mod-
ular interface cards (MIC) slots al-
ready have the Hierarchical Class of
Service (HCOS) capabilities required
for subscriber management. Low
cost investment to support smaller
volumes of subscribers.
Larger MX platforms will require
Modular Port Concentrators (MPC)
with per VLAN queuing or enhanced
queuing capabilities to support
hierarchical class of service.
Next Generation broadband
products have much higher capacity
demands. The Juniper MX platform
supports interfaces that operate at
speeds of up to 100Gbps.

A Subscriber Management feature
license is required for all platforms.
For service provider who takes
wholesale services from British Tel-
ecom a software license to operate
as a Layer two tunnelling protocol
(L2TP) Network Server (LNS) may be
required.
Subscriber Access Feature packs
license start from 4K subs. This is
the pay as you grow model.
