Drying technologies.

• Routinely worked directly with Chemists and Science & Technology in developing and
modifying formulas to a seamless transition into mass production.
• Sponsored project for improving customer satisfaction resulting in lead times being
reduced by 50% while achieving 99.3% OTDC.

Production Manager (March 1998-September 2001)
• Responsible for 120 non-union employees and an $8 million operating budget and $3
million capital budget.
• Implemented a “standardized training program” for operations. Standard operating
procedures were created; formalized employee assessment program was developed
(written, on the job).
• Championed a cross-functional process improvement team to address product losses from
overweight bars and recycled product resulting in $0.5 million in savings.
• Managed project to reuse on-hold product that was out of spec.

• Responsible for 175 union associates (seasonal) and eight Supervisors (operations,
maintenance, and sanitation departments). Product lines included; Clark Bar, Bun Bar,
Slow Poke and Black Cow suckers, and Slimfast Peanut Butter Crunch Bar.
• Coordinated the transfer of the Bun Bar product lines into the Pittsburgh facility after the
acquisition was finalized. Plant shutdown, Equipment transfer, and employee training
were completed in less than 6 months.
• Promoted better working relationship with union; grievances reduced by 50%, zero
arbitrations and zero NLRB filings.
Clark Bar America, Inc. -Pittsburgh, PA
Production / Sanitation Supervisor (September 1991-February 1994)
• Managed the 3rd
shift sanitation crew of 10-20 associates (seasonal), responsible for
cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment, and infrastructure in time for the first shift start
up.
• Coordinated semi-annual shutdown activities with maintenance and operations.
