1. Hey friend! I am currently visiting Japan! Japan is a country made up of over
2,000 islands. Since Japan is technically a island, in the past they kept
themselves isolated from the rest of the world. They would have periods of time
where they were social with other countries! China majorly influenced medieval
Japan. Japan picked up religion and writing from China. The Japanese converted
to Buddhism because they looked highly upon China. The Chinese Tang dynasty
also influenced Japanese politics! The Japanese created a central government
and bureaucracy in the 9th century.
2. Hey everyone! I want to tell you about the Heian Period.
With the Fujiwara regency, “flourishing of the arts”
became very popular. This was a big break for society!
Women were majorly involved with the progress in
literature! The worlds first novel was created during this
time, called the “Tale of Gengi” along with a new form of
poetry called tanka. This was a major intellectual
accomplishment for medieval Japan!
