Organize Events to
Attract Members and
  Boost Attendance
Why are Events Important?
Public events are the core of your organization
Without socializing, your group is just a
 newsletter and idea
Mastering the art of hosting events will help
with attracting new members and keeping
 existing members engaged
Analyze Your Past Events

Review previous meetings for ideas
and improvements

Questions to ask:
What events have you held in the
past that worked and attracted the
   most attendance?
What were the events with high
   attendance, high revenue, posi-tive
   feedback, and high amounts of
   chatter and excitement?
What was it about that event that
   seemed to work so well?
Coming Up With Event Ideas

Have a theme for your meeting

  Brainstorm ideas for your theme
What are the hot topics in your industry right now?
Workshop/Seminar – What skills would your
     membership like to gain?
What type of hobbies or other interests does you
membership have, and how can you incorporate that
into events? (ex: golf, wine, or attending a sporting
     event)
Ask members for their input on topics or themes they
are interested in. (Try conducting a membership survey
     to gather their ideas.)
Planning Your Meetings – Pay Attention to Details

Hold the meetings on a schedule, ex. second
  Tuesday each month
Make it easy for attendees to register to attend
  Provide name tags
  Allow time for networking
Incorporate food and prizes if possible (consider
  having a member’s business sponsor)
Conclusion

  Analyze past meetings
  Brainstorm future events
Pay attention to the details of the meeting
Inspiration to Create Your Plan

“In order to plan your future wisely, it is
necessary that you understand and appreciate
your past.”
