2. A dark room is a room, from which
normal light is excluded.
It is made completely dark to allow
the processing of light sensitive
radiographic films.
Entrance to the dark room is light
tight.
Primary function of a dark room is
to produce a completely darkened
environment in which x-ray film
can be handled & processed to
produce diagnostic radiograph.
4. Dry Bench: It includes loading
& unloading of cassettes.
Cassette: A radiographic film
cassette is a rectangular or
square metallic container used
to hold film
(exposed/unexposed) &
Intensifying screens in close &
uniform contact.
It excludes all light from
entering the cassette & film.
It holds intensifying screen &
protect them from damage.

5. Safe light : A safe light is a lamp which
produces light in areas of the spectrum which
will not affect radiographic film.
6. Hangers : A film hanger is a instrument or
device for holding film during processing
procedure.
It is made up of stainless steel & available in
various sizes.
Types of hangers:
1) Clip type
2) Channel type
7. Wet Bench : It includes 4 processing tanks
1) Developer
2) Rinsing
3) Fixer
4) Washer

8. Check the level of the developer for its correct
level & temp,stir the solution.
Select the correct film hanger ,switch on the
safe light &switch off the white light .lock the
door.
Dry bench : Open the cassette & gently grasp
the film at its edges.
Loading the hanger with film
Close the cassette by reloading it with
unexposed film.
9. Wet bench: Place the film in the developer tank
& agitate 2-3 times to remove any air bubble on
film.
After developing ,lift the film out ,allow the
solution to drain back into developer tank.
Rinse the film for 10 seconds.
Place it in fixer tank for 30 seconds.
Switch on the white light .
Wash the film under running water.
Place the film in dryer.
After drying ,film is ready for screening.
