IoT devices are nonstandard computing devices that connect wirelessly to networks and transmit data. The Internet of Things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects embedded with sensors, software, and technologies to connect and exchange data over the internet. IoT devices share collected sensor data by connecting to an IoT gateway or edge device where data is sent to the cloud for analysis or analyzed locally. IoT is used in traffic management through cameras and sensors that count cars and adjust traffic lights, and enable immediate communication with hospitals during accidents. However, IoT faces drawbacks of dependence on power supply and networks.
