Ever wondered who were some of the bands that shaped Kpop to be the way it is? Well
here’s a list for a few bands that made Kpop what it is currently:
H.O.T. (Which stands for High-Five of Teenagers) was a 5-member boy band that debuted in
1996. They broke up in 2001, after being together for 5 years.
S.E.S. They were considered the female version of H.O.T. They debuted in 1997 with 3
members. They released several successful albums before disbanding in 2002.
Sechs Kies This was a Hip-Hop group that debuted in 1997, with 6 members. After releasing
4 albums they split in 2000. However, they made a comeback in September of 2017, with
their song ‘Something special’.
Roo’ra They were a 4-member mixed gender band, that debuted in 1994. Their song ‘There
are no secrets’ was a break out hit. The group broke up in 2001.
1TYM (Pronounced ‘One Time’) are known as the original Hip-Hop idol group. They debuted
in 1998, with 4 members. Overall they released 4 albums, until going on hiatus in 2006.
