What are the benefits and/or challenges of using presentation platforms like Google Slides?
One benefit of using presentation platforms is that it’s a fun and interactive way to get
students involved in the lesson (instead the teacher just talking at them). For example,
everyone can edit and work on Google Slides at once, allowing for all the students’ input and
collaboration. Also, since technology is heavily used and emphasized in today’s society, it’s
important to make sure that kids are being introduced to this technology from a young age
so they know how to use it when they get into the real world. One challenge of using these
platforms is that technology fails sometimes. For example, if a teacher was depending on a
certain presentation platform for a lesson, and the internet shuts down, this could be a huge
problem, causing the teacher to have to find a good alternative. Therefore, although it’s
important to utilize the various presentation platforms, it’s also important to not rely solely on
them for your lesson.
