Essay 1 Addiction is a disease that I will battle for the rest of my life. After being sexually assaulted at the age of twelve, I started to self–destruct. Lack
of parental support, less than pristine living conditions, and an addictive personality paved an expressway to a life of addiction. I chose to hang with
undesirable people, and was introduced to Marijuana, LSD, Ecstasy, PCP, Cocaine,Heroin and eventually what became the love of my life, the
prescription painkiller Morphine. Never did I think that trying pot would have a domino effect. It led me to try harder and more addictive substances
ultimately turning my life upside down. Often publicly...show more content...
Though after numerous years clean behind bars and completing several prison drug programs, I still had not hit my true bottom. My life after prison
was even harder. I stayed clean of all drugs, and since alcohol was never a problem for me, I would drink and drink often. I continued a relationship
with a drug–dealer that was extremely toxic and abusive. However, it would only take one visit to the hospital to trigger my relapse. I was
prescribed Percocet which gave me the euphoric high of heroin. It caused me to search for stronger painkillers in higher doses. Morphine kept me
calm, able to deal with any problem and solve it, but really destroying the person I really was. I believe God stepped in to show me enough is enough
after surviving a car accident that should have killed me due to overdosing behind the wheel. This was my wake–up call. I immediately put myself into
a program here in Reading, and my ex was arrested for selling drugs and is serving 5–10 years still till this day. I cut everyone and anything that had to
do with using, and focused on getting my life back in order. If I continued, it was certain jail or death. I chose life for the first time ever. I was so
excited for my new life to begin not realizing the real fight was just about to begin. I used the aid of Methadone to get off the Morphine so that I
could still do other things and not have to go away and lose my home. I was living independently and for the

Essay about My Birth Story
My Birth Story
A baby's life helps to form and shape the future for that child; this goes the same for me. My birth, my sign, and my name, all relate to the way I
live and act today. Many people may not see this connection for themselves, but it takes a little bit of research and thinking to come to realize why
people are the way they are. Every day and every action that a child experiences can influence their actions as an adult.
I was born on a Monday morning at 5:33. Although my mother was not in labor for long, she did take her time getting to the hospital to give birth. I
was born on April 23, 1984, the day after Easter as a Taurus. In general, Taurus' are stubborn people and can bring harmony from chaos. Taurean women

I am adjusting like any child would to their new surroundings, and getting used to daily life as a college student. I came to NAU alone, much like I
was born an only child. However, in the next year, I know I will make friends and meet people to enjoycollege life with, much like when my brother
was born, I had a new playmate and someone to grow with.
Taureans are also known to have very strong opinions and a strong voice. All through middle school, my voice wasn't always used for academics;
all my report cards said: "...She's a good student, but has a tendency to socialize too much during class". Throughout high school, my teachers have
been able to tell when I haven't done my homework because I didn't have anything to say about the book or the article we read. I was known to be
social occasionally and a strong voice in every debate or discussion that took part during the class. My Bioethics teacher once told me "...Cammy, give
someone else a chance, you're monopolizing the class" I was a little shocked, but I knew she was right and shut up.
As a Taurus, I also have an inclination to make sure people are taken care of, especially in my own home or my "territory." Although I don't host many
parties, when I do have guests, I like to be sure that they are comfortable and have everything they need. For example, about a week ago, my roommate

War Story- Personal Narrative Essay
War Story– Personal Narrative Finally we got a well deserved break from what seemed like our endless marching. As we stopped pain shot up my
left leg like a bullet. I looked automatically to my right. Nobody was there. My best friend Simon would usually stand there, as he had in the war
before, I could imagine the grin on his face. The images of all those years ago started to play in my mind...
It began when we were assembled in the safety of the trench. Then we heard those dreaded words that can make a man throw up with fear for his life.
"Go! Over the top men, go!"
I froze, not breathing, not even blinking I was paralysed, standing there motionless, my legs as solid as...show more content...
Then, turning my head again I saw Simon dive to my aid. He did not utter a single word but just gave a faint grin then promptly looked down at my
leg and set to work. He freed me and with a little help I made it to the safety of the next shell hole. I owed him my life.
Simon refused to stop. He climbed up again to help the others. I tried to tug him back but my efforts were worthless; seen as I was wounded. Gun
shots and shell fire pounded my ears like a right hand from a heavy weight boxer. I will never forget the next sound I heard. I knew it was the end so I
looked up at the morning sun and prayed towards the heavens. I could hear the screams penetrating throughout my mind.
Now I'm standing here about to march on to fight in another war, fighting for my dear friend. When will man kind learn? Now, however, I fear this
time I might not be so lucky, especially now, without Simon, who I did not even get a chance to thank for saving my life. Now I try to put the
thoughts out of my mind with a tear in my eye turning away from the other soldiers so they cannot see.
I can see a large church in front of me and can hear the sounds of children playing. I begin to think about the contrast. The young, blameless children
playing happily with each other only a short distance away from where us, the adults are contemplating what lies ahead hideously slaughtering the

Scary Story I looked up at the black sky. I hadn't intended to be out this late. The sun had set, and the empty road ahead had no streetlights. I knew
I was in for a dark journey home. I had decided that by traveling through the forest would be the quickest way home. Minutes passed, yet it seemed
like hours and days. The farther I traveled into the forest, the darker it seemed to get. I was very had to even take a breath due to the stifling air.
The only sound familiar to me was the quickening beat of my own heart, which felt as though it was about to come through my chest. I began to

I took a glance around and found myself looking right into a pair of dark, glassy eyes peering at me through the bushes. I knew I was not seeing
things at that moment. Were those the evil eyes of a goblin lurking waiting for it's next meal? My breath became too rapid for me to be able to
whistle. I took a big gulp and decided to step on it and quicken my pace. I would never get home at this rate. The same moment I decided to quicken
my speed, a deer burst through the night. I screamed, stumbled and hit the ground with a loud thump. I sat on the moist ground for a moment to
try to recover but my heart began to throb as if it was beating within my throat. It was just a deer I told myself, I had to be brave. Trying to get myself
together I began to feel this hot puffs of air on the back of my neck. "It's the goblin!" I screamed as I rapidly rose to my feet. My head spun like an owl
as I went to look for what was behind me. I looked to the ground and discovered a little white dog. "You scared me to death little guy. What is a cute
little puppy like you doing in a dense forest like this?" I said to him. I was relieved it was only a dog instead of the ghastly goblin, but I only made it
half–way home by then. As I proceeded on the white little dog followed me. I felt more at ease now that I had him following me but he would not be

Personal Narrative: Identity Essay
Personal Narrative: Identity Identity–"Ones personal qualities."Identiy is something only he or she can fully define. My uncle says I am
affectionate, cheerful, and calm. My grandmother sees me as slim, pretty and sweet. My dad described me as perky, cheerful and happy, my mom says
beautiful, gentle, and self–conscious. These adjectives describe me accurately, yet they are only abstract versions of me. Adjectives cannot begin to
describe me and I aknowlege these descriptions for what they are, a condensed translation from my outward self to the world. It is impossible for
anyone to understand me completely because nobody has experienced the things I have. My mother has never cherished a raggedy doll named Katie

Pleasant means enjoyable... agreeable... welcoming. When characterizing my identity I don't want "pretty" to be the first word that pops into peoples
minds. "Pretty" says: dull and uninteresting. People in school know me, not because I score winning points in basketball games, or come in first in
swim meets. People know me because I am supposedly "good–looking." Sometimes I feel like I don't have an identity aside from the way I look, and
my definition of identify doesnt include appearance. I sometimes list the things that identify me. My strongest features are my "different" hair and
my "clear skin." People have often told me that I should be a "hand model" or go into commmercialism because I have a "unique smile" These
compliments put a temporary smile on my face, but having clear skin does not make me feel good about myself. Having clear skin does not give me
the confidence and self–assurance I need to be happy and accomplish my goals. But according to the majority of my friends and family:my looks are
going to get me the farthest " So I guess in a way my looks are my identity. The problem with characterizations and first impressions is that I don't
give an accurate perseption of the real me. I often seem ditsy and spacy, and sometimes I act in a way that doesnt portray the real me, and that
frustrates me beyond words. My friends call me "bubbly,"

Essay about Personal Narrative- Victim of Robbery
Personal Narrative– Victim of Robbery
My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to
review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside.
A little later that night someone entered my garage, which was so conveniently unlocked. They first rummaged through my dad's van outside and I
think they stole his coat, a tape and a few rolls of film. They also sifted through my mom's car looking for something to steal, only to find a few
motivational tapes. Surprising enough they passed those including one on "Getting Rid Of Guilt." When they got into my car...show more content...
I woke about a half of an hour later to my sister stumbling down the stairs. She flew into my room and said, "Joe, someone broke into your car and
stole your CD's." At first I thought she was kidding. I thought it might have been some sort of cruel prank to get me out of bed, for some reason or
another. After thinking about it for a matter of seconds I realized that my sister was not that creative, and she had to be telling the truth. I dashed out of
bed and grabbed my bathrobe on the way upstairs. I flew through the front door, struggling to put my robe on as I broke into an open run to the garage.
For some strange reason I don't remember running to the garage, all I remember was that I entered the garage and peered into the open window of
my car and my heart dropped. Everything was gone along with half of my dash destroyed in the process. I was furious. I felt like hitting
something. My target turned out to be my poor car. I hit my car as hard as I could, like it had done something wrong. If you look close enough you
can still see the dent in my trunk lid where I hit it so hard. I then decided to sit inside my car and truly survey the damage. That did not help. Then
realizing that all my CD's were also missing, I proceeded to rip my visor from the roof of my car. My mom came in about then saving my visor and
helped calm me down. My mom said later, "You were pretty mad Joe, I have never seen you that mad before."

started not being able to go to the student leader meetings and some of the event. I ended up having a meeting with pastor Andrew and his wife to
talk about why I have been missing so much and explained how busy I was, so they told me I needed to work on time management skills and how
they wanted me to be on their team. I ended up not making it to the next few meetings due to work and cheer. We ended up having another meeting

Opening to a Horror Story Essay
Opening to a Horror Story
They told him the house was haunted. They told him the house was strange. Five families had moved in, and never made it out. Alive anyway. He had
already survived two days with his family. His second night in his new home, what could possibly happen?
A whispered name.
The boy stirs in his sleep. A pale, vaporous moon lights the room. Shadows are deep. He twists his head, turning towards the window so that his face
becomes a soft mask, unblemished, colourless. But the boy's dream is troubled; beneath his lids, his eyes dart to and fro.
The whispered name:
'Daniel....'
Its sound is distant.
The boy frowns; yet the voice is within his own slumber, a...show more content...
He stands at the door, as if fearing to touch. But he is puzzled. More– he is curious. He twists the handle, the metal's coldness leaping along his arm
like iced energy released from a source. The shock is mild against the damp chill of his own body. He pulls the door open and the darkness beyond is
more dense; it seems to swell into the bedroom, a waxing shadow. He shrinks away, reluctant to allow contact with this fresh darkness.
His vision adjusts, and the inkiness scatters as if weakened by its own sudden growth. He advances again, passing through the doorway to stand
shivering on the landing overlooking the staircase. To descend this would be like sinking into the blackest of all pits, for darkness down there appears
final.
Still the hushed whisper urges:
'...Daniel...'
He listens for a moment more, perhaps wishing that the minor voice would also rouse his sleeping parents. There is no sound from their room; grief
has exhausted their bodies as well as their spirit. He stares into the centre of the darkness below, terribly compelled to descend.
The fingers of one hand slide against the wall, as he does so, their tips rippling over the textured wall paper. Disbelief mingles with the fascination and
the fear. Small lights – caught from who knows where? At the foot of

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading.
Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the
severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my
everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show

You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's
part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very
different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write
because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally.
To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have
to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing
assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar.
The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class
simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to
write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Narrative Essay About Tsunami
"Quick crawl under the bed!" My dad screamed in panic. So everyone crawled under the bed and I pulled Micky under with me.
The shaking went on for what felt like ten minutes but it was really four. Once everything was stable everyone crawled out from under the bed.
The all of the sudden there was this ear piercing siren. I immediately ran to the window and looked out the window, I knew what it was. I saw
people running away from the beach. As the water was being pulled back at a rapid pace. My mom came over to the window and gasped in fear.
She then quickly rummaged through her purse and grabbed the car keys. We then tried to grab as much stuff as we could. And my mom quickly
grabbed the three life jackets from the closet. There were only three lifejackets so my dad gave my sister his and we quickly put them on. We only had
eleven minutes left before the tsunami officially hit land.
We grabbed our stuff and I hooked Mickey to his leash and we ran into the hallway. The halls were crowded with people trying to push their way
through and get down the stairs. We all held hands so we wouldn't get lost from each other in the crowd. And we ran down the stairs into the lobby.
The lobby was crowded, people were all trying to squeeze out the doors. My dad lead the way and we pushed our way out the lobby doors. We ran to
our car and unlocked the doors and hit the gas. Eleven minutes had passed and the tsunami had already started to hit land. We were racing the tsunami

Descriptive Essay On An Island
The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my
feet and the cool breeze against my face. Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into one. As I
opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I
dragged myself up and turn my head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side already broke. A
mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the
purple and deep blue faded away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful.
After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and
tried to figure out how I got to this island. A series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so I
decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was surrounded by water and some other islands. The water
around the island was as clear as crystal, to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it seemed like a
tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they were painted on.
I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in
reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful sound of
the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility.
Continuing through the trees, my stomach started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits suddenly arises
on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell,

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Essay on My Family History
My Family History
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life. Having a clear
understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and
the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so
their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you
closer to self–discovery.

One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey for a huge feast. On Christmas only my mother and

house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South
Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After
all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to
Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins

The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little change in the later generations. Earlier the males
were the only ones that worked in the family and the wife stayed at home and took care of the house and

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that
tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities,
ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing,
attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life
off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects
of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a
dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some
are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in
nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong
family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people
just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational
experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational

tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8–6 with 52 seconds to go. When the game clock
hit 00:00 for the first time in our schools history the football team had beaten Aberdeen and none of us could believe it. This was a special
moment. Now, it was in this moment when I had realized that sports define me as me because we never gave up, none of us wanted to lose, we set a
goal and completed it, but most important we kept our eye on the prize and came through in the moment when the game was on the line. Nobody is
going to remember how many games we won or who the best player on the team was that season, but I guarantee what people will remember is when
we had beaten Aberdeen for the first time in school

Personal Narrative: My Vocabulary
The key to having an sensational essay is to have a breathtaking introduction filled with many powerful and complex vocabulary, that flows through
like a story. Being a writer in a advance placement class, during the beginning of the school year, I was not very confident coming into the class. There
were many concerns regarding my writing ability such as: spelling, punctuation and emphasizing advanced vocabulary. Starting off in this class put a
huge stress load on my back. I was challenged in every aspect in writing, from the nine point scale to minor punctuation mistakes. As the semester
continued, I've developed many new skills such as learning when or when not to use a comma, how to expand my vocabulary and how to use long and
short sentences in order to make the essay's more fascinating. Even though, the essays were very...show more content...
I have discovered by motivating myself to exceed and go beyond expectations as a writer I can achieve much more than what I planned for. I have also
discovered that by illustrating new and unique vocabulary into my writing, it opens a whole new way of thinking about that topic, which is intriguing.
Looking back on my rubrics and the nine point scale to see what I have improved, I can already tell that I dramatically inclined with my writing.
When I first started out in this class, I started with a four. The reason I got a four was because I had many crucial mistakes in my essay that need to
be fix. For starters, when I first began writing my first essay which was the Lord of the Flies I started off my essay with an appalling introduction,
"A leader who is someone that takes risks, does what is best for their tribe and is able to make sure their tribe survives without any

Narrative On Addiction

  • 1. Narrative on Addiction Celia D. Roman Instructor Corbett COM 041 11 November 2011 Essay 1 Addiction is a disease that I will battle for the rest of my life. After being sexually assaulted at the age of twelve, I started to self–destruct. Lack of parental support, less than pristine living conditions, and an addictive personality paved an expressway to a life of addiction. I chose to hang with undesirable people, and was introduced to Marijuana, LSD, Ecstasy, PCP, Cocaine,Heroin and eventually what became the love of my life, the prescription painkiller Morphine. Never did I think that trying pot would have a domino effect. It led me to try harder and more addictive substances ultimately turning my life upside down. Often publicly...show more content... Though after numerous years clean behind bars and completing several prison drug programs, I still had not hit my true bottom. My life after prison was even harder. I stayed clean of all drugs, and since alcohol was never a problem for me, I would drink and drink often. I continued a relationship with a drug–dealer that was extremely toxic and abusive. However, it would only take one visit to the hospital to trigger my relapse. I was prescribed Percocet which gave me the euphoric high of heroin. It caused me to search for stronger painkillers in higher doses. Morphine kept me calm, able to deal with any problem and solve it, but really destroying the person I really was. I believe God stepped in to show me enough is enough after surviving a car accident that should have killed me due to overdosing behind the wheel. This was my wake–up call. I immediately put myself into a program here in Reading, and my ex was arrested for selling drugs and is serving 5–10 years still till this day. I cut everyone and anything that had to do with using, and focused on getting my life back in order. If I continued, it was certain jail or death. I chose life for the first time ever. I was so excited for my new life to begin not realizing the real fight was just about to begin. I used the aid of Methadone to get off the Morphine so that I could still do other things and not have to go away and lose my home. I was living independently and for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay about My Birth Story My Birth Story A baby's life helps to form and shape the future for that child; this goes the same for me. My birth, my sign, and my name, all relate to the way I live and act today. Many people may not see this connection for themselves, but it takes a little bit of research and thinking to come to realize why people are the way they are. Every day and every action that a child experiences can influence their actions as an adult. I was born on a Monday morning at 5:33. Although my mother was not in labor for long, she did take her time getting to the hospital to give birth. I was born on April 23, 1984, the day after Easter as a Taurus. In general, Taurus' are stubborn people and can bring harmony from chaos. Taurean women ...show more content... I am adjusting like any child would to their new surroundings, and getting used to daily life as a college student. I came to NAU alone, much like I was born an only child. However, in the next year, I know I will make friends and meet people to enjoycollege life with, much like when my brother was born, I had a new playmate and someone to grow with. Taureans are also known to have very strong opinions and a strong voice. All through middle school, my voice wasn't always used for academics; all my report cards said: "...She's a good student, but has a tendency to socialize too much during class". Throughout high school, my teachers have been able to tell when I haven't done my homework because I didn't have anything to say about the book or the article we read. I was known to be social occasionally and a strong voice in every debate or discussion that took part during the class. My Bioethics teacher once told me "...Cammy, give someone else a chance, you're monopolizing the class" I was a little shocked, but I knew she was right and shut up. As a Taurus, I also have an inclination to make sure people are taken care of, especially in my own home or my "territory." Although I don't host many parties, when I do have guests, I like to be sure that they are comfortable and have everything they need. For example, about a week ago, my roommate and I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. War Story- Personal Narrative Essay War Story– Personal Narrative Finally we got a well deserved break from what seemed like our endless marching. As we stopped pain shot up my left leg like a bullet. I looked automatically to my right. Nobody was there. My best friend Simon would usually stand there, as he had in the war before, I could imagine the grin on his face. The images of all those years ago started to play in my mind... It began when we were assembled in the safety of the trench. Then we heard those dreaded words that can make a man throw up with fear for his life. "Go! Over the top men, go!" I froze, not breathing, not even blinking I was paralysed, standing there motionless, my legs as solid as...show more content... Then, turning my head again I saw Simon dive to my aid. He did not utter a single word but just gave a faint grin then promptly looked down at my leg and set to work. He freed me and with a little help I made it to the safety of the next shell hole. I owed him my life. Simon refused to stop. He climbed up again to help the others. I tried to tug him back but my efforts were worthless; seen as I was wounded. Gun shots and shell fire pounded my ears like a right hand from a heavy weight boxer. I will never forget the next sound I heard. I knew it was the end so I looked up at the morning sun and prayed towards the heavens. I could hear the screams penetrating throughout my mind. Now I'm standing here about to march on to fight in another war, fighting for my dear friend. When will man kind learn? Now, however, I fear this time I might not be so lucky, especially now, without Simon, who I did not even get a chance to thank for saving my life. Now I try to put the thoughts out of my mind with a tear in my eye turning away from the other soldiers so they cannot see. I can see a large church in front of me and can hear the sounds of children playing. I begin to think about the contrast. The young, blameless children playing happily with each other only a short distance away from where us, the adults are contemplating what lies ahead hideously slaughtering the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Scary Story Essay example Scary Story I looked up at the black sky. I hadn't intended to be out this late. The sun had set, and the empty road ahead had no streetlights. I knew I was in for a dark journey home. I had decided that by traveling through the forest would be the quickest way home. Minutes passed, yet it seemed like hours and days. The farther I traveled into the forest, the darker it seemed to get. I was very had to even take a breath due to the stifling air. The only sound familiar to me was the quickening beat of my own heart, which felt as though it was about to come through my chest. I began to whistled to take my mind off the eerie noises I was hearing. In this kind of darkness I was in, it was hard for me to believe that I could be...show more content... I took a glance around and found myself looking right into a pair of dark, glassy eyes peering at me through the bushes. I knew I was not seeing things at that moment. Were those the evil eyes of a goblin lurking waiting for it's next meal? My breath became too rapid for me to be able to whistle. I took a big gulp and decided to step on it and quicken my pace. I would never get home at this rate. The same moment I decided to quicken my speed, a deer burst through the night. I screamed, stumbled and hit the ground with a loud thump. I sat on the moist ground for a moment to try to recover but my heart began to throb as if it was beating within my throat. It was just a deer I told myself, I had to be brave. Trying to get myself together I began to feel this hot puffs of air on the back of my neck. "It's the goblin!" I screamed as I rapidly rose to my feet. My head spun like an owl as I went to look for what was behind me. I looked to the ground and discovered a little white dog. "You scared me to death little guy. What is a cute little puppy like you doing in a dense forest like this?" I said to him. I was relieved it was only a dog instead of the ghastly goblin, but I only made it half–way home by then. As I proceeded on the white little dog followed me. I felt more at ease now that I had him following me but he would not be considered much of a watch dog to most Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Personal Narrative: Identity Essay Personal Narrative: Identity Identity–"Ones personal qualities."Identiy is something only he or she can fully define. My uncle says I am affectionate, cheerful, and calm. My grandmother sees me as slim, pretty and sweet. My dad described me as perky, cheerful and happy, my mom says beautiful, gentle, and self–conscious. These adjectives describe me accurately, yet they are only abstract versions of me. Adjectives cannot begin to describe me and I aknowlege these descriptions for what they are, a condensed translation from my outward self to the world. It is impossible for anyone to understand me completely because nobody has experienced the things I have. My mother has never cherished a raggedy doll named Katie and my father never...show more content... Pleasant means enjoyable... agreeable... welcoming. When characterizing my identity I don't want "pretty" to be the first word that pops into peoples minds. "Pretty" says: dull and uninteresting. People in school know me, not because I score winning points in basketball games, or come in first in swim meets. People know me because I am supposedly "good–looking." Sometimes I feel like I don't have an identity aside from the way I look, and my definition of identify doesnt include appearance. I sometimes list the things that identify me. My strongest features are my "different" hair and my "clear skin." People have often told me that I should be a "hand model" or go into commmercialism because I have a "unique smile" These compliments put a temporary smile on my face, but having clear skin does not make me feel good about myself. Having clear skin does not give me the confidence and self–assurance I need to be happy and accomplish my goals. But according to the majority of my friends and family:my looks are going to get me the farthest " So I guess in a way my looks are my identity. The problem with characterizations and first impressions is that I don't give an accurate perseption of the real me. I often seem ditsy and spacy, and sometimes I act in a way that doesnt portray the real me, and that frustrates me beyond words. My friends call me "bubbly," Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay about Personal Narrative- Victim of Robbery Personal Narrative– Victim of Robbery My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside. A little later that night someone entered my garage, which was so conveniently unlocked. They first rummaged through my dad's van outside and I think they stole his coat, a tape and a few rolls of film. They also sifted through my mom's car looking for something to steal, only to find a few motivational tapes. Surprising enough they passed those including one on "Getting Rid Of Guilt." When they got into my car...show more content... I woke about a half of an hour later to my sister stumbling down the stairs. She flew into my room and said, "Joe, someone broke into your car and stole your CD's." At first I thought she was kidding. I thought it might have been some sort of cruel prank to get me out of bed, for some reason or another. After thinking about it for a matter of seconds I realized that my sister was not that creative, and she had to be telling the truth. I dashed out of bed and grabbed my bathrobe on the way upstairs. I flew through the front door, struggling to put my robe on as I broke into an open run to the garage. For some strange reason I don't remember running to the garage, all I remember was that I entered the garage and peered into the open window of my car and my heart dropped. Everything was gone along with half of my dash destroyed in the process. I was furious. I felt like hitting something. My target turned out to be my poor car. I hit my car as hard as I could, like it had done something wrong. If you look close enough you can still see the dent in my trunk lid where I hit it so hard. I then decided to sit inside my car and truly survey the damage. That did not help. Then realizing that all my CD's were also missing, I proceeded to rip my visor from the roof of my car. My mom came in about then saving my visor and helped calm me down. My mom said later, "You were pretty mad Joe, I have never seen you that mad before." Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Alive anyway. He had already survived two days with his family. His second night in his new home, what could possibly happen? A whispered name. The boy stirs in his sleep. A pale, vaporous moon lights the room. Shadows are deep. He twists his head, turning towards the window so that his face becomes a soft mask, unblemished, colourless. His vision adjusts, and the inkiness scatters as if weakened by its own sudden growth. He advances again, passing through the doorway to stand shivering on the landing overlooking the staircase. • 11. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I immediately ran to the window and looked out the window, I knew what it was. I saw people running away from the beach. As the water was being pulled back at a rapid pace. And we ran down the stairs into the lobby. The lobby was crowded, people were all trying to squeeze out the doors. My dad lead the way and we pushed our way out the lobby doors. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. • 14. Descriptive Essay On An Island The first thing that hit me was the sound. The sounds of birds, the sound of the sea crawling onto the sand. I felt million grains of sand underneath my feet and the cool breeze against my face. Moreover, the tantalizing scent of the washed–up waves, coconut, and pineapple are all mixed into one. As I opened my eyes, I was amazed by how easily fantasy and reality intertwined at that moment. It was like continuing a dream after waking up. So I dragged myself up and turn my head to the east. While the sky in the opposite direction was still dark, the dawn on the east side already broke. A mixture of yellow and orange on the horizon beneath a dark neon blue ocean of night had begun to peek out. As the sun continuously rose, all of the purple and deep blue faded away, and the sun took its mighty position at the top of the sky, shining so very blindingly beautiful. After I watched the sunrise, my mood lifted. Notwithstanding, I still feel threatened for I got trapped on an island. I stood there for a moment and tried to figure out how I got to this island. A series of quick flashback of a shipwreck, and a big storm. Consequently, I have a severe headache, so I decided to sit down in the sand. While sitting down, I observe the island and find that I was surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around the island was as clear as crystal, to the point I can see the depths of the sea. Again, I dragged myself up and turn to the back; it seemed like a tropical paradise. There were multitudes of greenery, lush foliage that looked like they were painted on. I walk deeper into the island. Nowhere, the sound of the birds started to raise up. It brought freedom and happiness to the mind. Beautiful flowers in reds, yellows, purples, and pinks lounged happily along the banks of small streams. Following the streams, it allowed me to hear the playful sound of the water lapping on the rocks, and the sound of leaves rustling when the wind blew gently, bringing with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. Continuing through the trees, my stomach started growling like a monster who is ready to eat its prey. Accordingly, the smell of fruits suddenly arises on my left side so I made my way toward the fruity smell, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Back to reality our quarterback had started the play and it looked like it was going nowhere and we might have to got into overtime. Then after about 6 crazy seconds he threw the ball to our halfback and he broke a couple tackles and the somehow stretched across the goal line by about 2 inches and we had taken the lead 8–6 with 52 seconds to go.
