Life is a Highway
Noelle Dr. English ENC 102 T/Th 10 September 2013 Life is a Highway Life is a series of crossroads and decisions that ultimately draw the map of
our journey. It is the big decisions, however, that we later recall and reflect on the most, because those decisions have made the biggest impact on our
lives. When we read Robert Frost's poem The Road Not Taken, we are confronted with the travelers' difficulty in making an important decision, his
chosen path, and ultimate outcome. Four years ago, I was living in Ft. Myers,...show more content...
I also felt this way, telling myself I could always move back if things didn't work out. I told my friends, and my father, that I would be back often
to visit, but even visits become few and far between. Two years after I moved, my father passed away. After his funeral, I never looked back and
have not returned to Ft. Myers...life moving us forward. The traveler's decision is made, and he projects that when he is older, he will look back on
his decision with reflection as demonstrated in the verse: "I shall be telling this with a sigh/Somewhere ages and ages hence" (Frost line 16–17). I
interpret the "sigh" as one of relief that he made the right decision. The lines: "I took the one less traveled by/And that has made all the difference."
(Frost line 19–20) imply the traveler took the more difficult, unknown road. It was the road "less traveled", the road "no step had trodden black"
(Frost line 12), meaning few people decide to take the harder road to get to the next stop on the journey. It was the courageous choice. Taking this
road was the right decision for him. I could have stayed in Ft. Myers in my comfort zone, but I took a leap of faith and switched paths. Has my
decision to move to Ormond Beach made all the difference? Had I

Life Is A Daring Adventure Essay
This is a very famous quote by Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."
It all started by the relaxed and casual talks between my father and his best friends. I was elated to know that we were going for a vacation with five
other families. That time, I had entered my 7th Year but I can still recall the experience, I had during my Diwali vacations with my family friends as
we visited some thrilling, exciting and daring places in Sikkim & Darjeeling. The eastern parts of India have a refreshing and calm atmosphere with a
pollution free environment.
We began by traveling to Delhi and thereafter from Delhi we took a flight to Bagdogra. We had an exquisite travel to Sikkim by car where we stayed
for 2–3 days and went to all the distinctive places of nearby areas. Sikkim is a fairly compact city which is bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal
and it is a place of landscape and scenic beauty. The atmosphere of Sikkim was a little bit chilling but was very calm. In Sikkim, we visited Rumtek
Monastery which is ancient Gompa, where we saw the lifestyles of Buddhist. We visited Tshangu lake and Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple
which is popular because Baba Harbhajan...show more content...

initially I felt very scared but after some time I thought it was a savouring moment. We also went to Mirik that is Indo–Nepal Border. Mirik is a

Essay on The Journey of Human Life
Some people may describe their lives as being ordinary while others may say that their life is extraordinary in comparison. People at some point in
their lives will have to make decisions that will take them down different paths, and the paths people choose will determine what journey they may
face and what will become of their future. While human life can be described as a journey, it is often described as being either a physical or spiritual
one for its travelers.
First, human life can be depicted as a spiritual and physical journey for people in life. In the short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" by
Ambrose Bierce, it tells of a man being hanged over the edge of the bridge and the events that transpire after the noose around...show more content...
Phoenix says, "'Ghost,' she said sharply, 'who be you the ghost of? For I have heard of nary death close by" (Welty 315). This shows that she is
imagining things in her own way by thinking that death may have come for her. The ghost may also be considered the bringer of death and she is
not ready for it. When Phoenix reaches the city and is questioned about her grandson's health she states, "My grandson. It was my memory had left
me. There I sat and forgot why I made my long trip" (Welty 318). Phoenix throughout her journey is waging a battle between her mind and reality.
By the time she reaches her destination her mind was in question on why she was there and for what reason. The illusion of the scarecrow as a ghost
and her mind forgetting her reasons for her journey represent a spiritual battle for phoenix. These are some reasons why life can be depicted in a journey.
Furthermore, people can experience a physical and spiritual journey in life. In the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost, it tells of a
journey that a person has to take when they are encountered with decisions. Frost writes, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood," (Line 1). This line
describes a metaphorical situation where a person comes to a point where they have to choose between two things. Here in the poem he is describing
the choice in the way a person should live life or which path he should make his

Life Is A Journey Essay
Somebody has rightly said "Life is a journey" and i completely agree with that person. In fact i believe, life is merely not a single journey, it is
indeed a combination of various small journeys that teaches one or the other thing to a person and leave and ever lasting impact on his or her life.
Today in this article, i am going to talk about one such journey of mine, which was for few hours but have left an everlasting impact on my mind

The Journey Of Life Has Changed My Life
The journey of life has thought me to be honest and loyal. As I arrive in the United States of America in the 2013, it was a dream come through. I
made a promise to my parents that I will be a good child and stay out of trouble. It was tears of joy when it was time to say good bye to my parents.
On my arrival at the Dallas airport, my uncle was there to welcome me and took me home. On our way home I couldn't believe my eyes that, the
things I see on television am now having physical visual of them. After a month in United State of America I applied for a community college because
I didn't want to over stay at home since I was in my third year in University in my country. But after my placement test I was accepted into the school.

Even I believe in hard work pays but this work is hard and is not paying. After three months of working at the gas I saw there was no improvement in
my paycheck and my manger keeps reducing my work hours for no reasons. So my love for the work began to fade away and decided not complain
about it anymore because the more I complain the more it get worse. The only option was to quit the job without informing my manager in case I
get a new job that pays well. Something unbelievable happened at work which changed my situation. After a long and busy night shift. Mostly I
inform my manager before I clock out, for him to know am not going home with something which is not mine. As soon as I entered my manager's
office, he told me to sit down. I was a little nervous because mostly when my manager asks me to sit for a conversation that's, there is a problem or
a report from a customer. My manager told me a customer called to report a missing wallet and in case If I have seen it I should give it to me. I made it
clear to my manager that I have no ideal of the missing wallet he is talking about. After I left my manager's office I decide to use the restroom before
I leave for my house. After I was done with what I came to the restroom to do, I decided to change the trash can in the restroom since It was almost
full. As I pull the trashcan and about to pull the trash bag out of the can, I saw a black wallet. I decided to

Life' Journey
Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination, our
purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout our travels, we will encounter many challenges. Some of these challenges will
test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along the way, we may stumble upon obstacles that will come between the paths that we are
destined to take. In order to follow the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only
we don't realize that at the time. Along our journey we will be confronted with many situations, some will be filled with joy, and some will be...show

My Personal Journey Essays
Journeys are moments in life that define and reconstruct the myths we create about ourselves and others. All too often the ideals of a biased
community or select group are viewed as the model by which all individuals must follow. To escape the pressures of a collective standard a person
must travel outside the constraints of a community and discover his or her own true identity. On such a journey one can expect moments of planned
reflection or unexpected instances of revelation. A journey is everyminute of my existence, as I travel through life and try to ascertain my own presence
in its cycle.
An essential journey occurred three years ago when I set out on a personal pilgrimage. I wanted to re–travel the time line of the past few...show more

I had only been camping once or twice and even then it was with all the comforts of modern camping gear. Was I ready for this?
As my guide paddled away I looked down at my feet and surveyed the few preparations which I had brought. I had a sleeping bag; a tarp; a yard of
string; two bags of food, which were little more than fruits, nuts, and cheese; two canteens of warm water; and the clothes on my back, which I had
layered several deep. Before I would even attempt to sort through the real reasons why I had come on this trip I decided to set camp.
As I looked about me, I saw that there was not one smooth area within a hundred yards. Because I had to be within whistling distance of my guide,
in case of an emergency, I could not wander off. The first place I looked was the rocky stretch of beach. As I walked along looking for a small cave
or shelter I noticed dozens of minuscule creatures. These were not companions or friendly wild animals but small biting sand fleas. Now I knew that
no matter how much I wanted to assimilate myself with nature there was a limit to my experience. I just couldn't envision myself happily brushing off
sand fleas all night so I decided to look up in the patch of evergreens that sheltered the beach. After trudging through soggy moss and swampish soil I
found two evergreens that stood alone on a small cliff. I strung up my tarp to try and create the most comfortable

Adventure Essay : Life Is An Adventure
Standing forty feet high over the clear ocean water with the chilling autumn wind against your back, getting ready to jump, adrenaline pumps through
your veins as you reach out to grab your best friends hand: 30 seconds later swimming to the top of the water, with a memory neither of you will
ever forget, exclaiming, "let's do it again!" Life is a journey and each day is an adventure. An exciting unique experience that anyone can choose to
create: define a pathway to discover your spirit to explore, to find out what adventure truly means to you. Everyday brings new risks, chances, and
ventures – would a true adventurist leave saying "what if?" And so...the adventure begins.
Adventuring 101: never underestimate the little things, explore the unknown, and make as many memories as possible. Sometimes, the most
memorable adventures, "participation in exciting undertakings or enterprises," according to Merriam Webster, are the ones no one sees coming. A spur
of the moment, whimsical adventure, such as, driving down back roads with no destination, blasting music, singing at the top of your lungs with your
best friends can embody this exact feeling, as it becomes the only place you want to be. Adventures build character; explore the world, try new things,
find the undiscovered. Often, anything can be turned from a daunting task into an adventure...good friends, daring mindsets, and the drive to discover
can be so powerful. Moments like these are ones that can never seem to

My Journey As A Personal Journey In My Life
When teenagers transition from the simpler days, such as riding a bicycle, to the world of young adulthood and responsibilities, there are a lot of
adjustments made in the way they live life. Teenagers learn that not everyone has the free time to draw with Crayola markers and play outside
everyday; they learn that time is precious and it needs to be used wisely as they deal with real–life problems such as keeping up with academics,
staying involved in extracurricular activities and in the community, deciding what career path to take, maintaining their responsibilities at home, being
a good friend to others, a good follower of their religion, and a good member to their community. What is unique about teenagers than other age
groups is that they must experience a new step of personal growth: puberty. Being a teenager myself, I have learned that as the years go by, life
definitely gets more challenging, but there is no challenge that I am afraid to accept. The moment I entered high school was a monumental change in my
life. I walked in with one goal in mind: I want to be involved. Three years have passed and I am proud to say that I accomplished that big aspiration of
my 14–year–old self. Finding balance is certainly the key to keep moving forward in life. As I maintain a big plate of responsibilities consisting of
my job, future career, family, friends, and school, all of these parts in my life have encouraged my growth as an individual: physically, mentally,
and emotionally. My spectacular abilities and inner spirit are shining and flourishing more than they have ever been my entire life. At this point in
time, I can absolutely look back at my 17 years of life and humbly say, "I made it." One of the first things that is advised when you enter high
school is to be involved. At the time, it was such a broad statement that I was confused on what it meant to "be involved". Slowly enough, I found
myself falling into place in a myriad of clubs and activities I never thought I would see myself being apart of. Besides being a general member of Best
Buddies International and Interact Club, I currently hold a high position in many others. As president of Key Club International, vice president of

A Life Long Journey
Nursing, A Life Long Journey "They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel," said Maya Angelou an African
American poet and novelist (Fox–Genovese, 1990). This quote shows the extent of people's actions. This includes everyone on a day to day basis
and more significantly, the role a nurse plays. A nurse can impact an individual on various levels. For example, a nurse witnesses people at the
most vulnerable times and helps them through. On top of that, Nursing is a profession that will never fade away. The human life cycle is
continuous, and people are always going to need medical attention. Therefore, in society there will always be a necessity for professional nurses.
This paper will describe why I chose the nursing profession, what a professional is, what the future of nursing looks like and why evidence based
research is important to my future of nursing. Why I Chose the Nursing Profession Becoming a nurse has been a life long dream of mine. I
remember watching medical television shows as a child, wanting to do what the doctors and nurses were doing. As I grew up I always told
people, "I am going to be a nurse one day!" When I was in first grade I broke my leg jumping on a tramp. I remember going to the doctor and getting
a crabby nurse that almost made me cry. After the incident, I made a promise to myself, I was never going to be a nurse like that if I became one. I
started working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) when I was sixteen. I decided to become a CNA was to see if the medical field was
something I wanted to purse or if it was just a childhood fantasy. After working a few weeks as a CNA, I knew I had chosen the right career path.
Besides my love for helping other people, the average income for a nurse impacted my decision too. I know I can make a living and support a
family working as a nurse. Which leads me to the reason I am in the Associate Nursing Program today. I decided to further my education. I believe I
have the empathy, kindness, and a caring heart to be an effective nurse. I thoroughly enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in someone's
life. Describe a Professional A professional is a broad term that can describe Doctors, Lawyers,

The Importance of Journeys Essay
The Importance of Journeys A thorough study of journeys reveals that a journey is much more than just movement from one place to another. Journeys
are about learning and growth, and they have the potential to teach people about themselves and the society in which they live. An Imaginative Journey
is one in which the individual doesn't in fact have to go anywhere in the physical sense. The physical journey is replaced by an expedition that is
fuelled by the human capacity to imagine. Imaginative Journeys create endless possibilities. They can offer an escape from the realities of life, and are
frequently used to comment on social or human traits and characteristics. Imaginative...show more content...
Prospero, on his island, is in command. It is his imagination that has conjured up his scheme for revenge and the journey is his to have power over.
Throughout the play, Prospero also experiences a journey of wisdom and appreciation. He learns more regarding the social order in which he lives and
experiences self–realisation and discovers his identity. Prospero learns that revenge on his enemies is not the best answer "Yet with my nobler reason
'gainst my fury Do I take part. The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance", and through his change, other characters such as Alonso learn something
about themselves and others such a Miranda and Ferdinand find love– "Beyond all limits of what else I' th' world, Do love, prize, honour you." The
imaginative setting for Prospero's island allows for the unbelievable to take place. Because of the situation, Shakespeare can exercise his imagination
to generate characters and thoughts that are not possible in a realistic setting. The island is a place of magic and imagination. The magic of Prospero,
Ariel and the other spirits, Caliban and the masque all persuade the audience, to suspend disbelief and accept imagination. Shakespeare has created the
magic so that the audience will be enticed by the opportunity to escape from the real world, and experience encounters beyond the surface of the

My Life : Life Is A Journey For My World
Life is a journey and by choosing my path, I create my destination. My journey started on the day I was born, July 16th, 1999, but it was not until
March 20th, 2016 that my destination was drawn with passion. On that day, I came to America with tears dropped on my mom's face, with great
pressure on my shoulder, with a strong determination to live well, to live happily. On that day, I promised myself that I will succeed to prove that if
someone considers my studying abroad as wasting money and time, they were wrong. On that day, I knew that I would be the one who makes my
mother proud of me and ensures a happy life for her. Without a strong financial support, studying abroad was too hard to complete, for most of the
people, but not for my mother and me. We believed in ourselves, in each other and in the goal that we have set, hoping one day I would come back
to my country with great knowledge and skills that I have learned in America. Our hope was a red light of fire that led us to the destination we set,
our hope was a plan that gave us the motivation to wake up in the morning and tried our best to fulfill, our hope was so strong that it magically
provided me the power to truly believe that I could do it no matter how other people thought. The day I hold the flight ticket in my hand, I could not
believe that my life would have a whole new chapter, in the country that Vietnamese people called it "America Dream", where a 16–year–old girl
would begin her study. It was such a

through assessments and in class discussions and tasks has broadened my understanding of learning. It is evident through this text that the theoretical
perspectives focused on in this subject have had a place in the process of my learning journey throughout the semester. Whether this learning has been
learning a new skill for an assessment, observing learning and assisting teaching on placement or collaborative learning in the tutorials, it is clear a
number of theories tie into these learning experiences.

I was lucky enough to be placed at Thornbury Primary School for my first week of placement. On many occasions throughout the five days I

needed more motivation than others, some learnt at a slower rate than others and at times I needed to come up with strategies to tackle challenges
I faced. One challenge was assisting a boy in the class who had special needs. The class began with their Reading Workshop and first off everyone
was required to read a chapter of their book to a class mate or Pre Service Teacher. Although the boy I was working with refused to read to me, I
began to use a number of strategies to motivate him to complete the task at hand. Mooney (2013) expresses Vygotsky's concept, The Zone of Proximal
Development (ZPD), it has been articulated in this text that this ZPD is the space among what someone is capable of without assistance and what
someone is capable of with assistance from a peer or teacher. I implemented this theory with the student, begging with observing the situation and
determining where he was at in his learning process and what he was able to achieve. I began to think that maybe he was not too confidant to

Life is a journey, not a destination. My journey as an individual has had highs and lows as my story is unique and not like most others. I grew up in
the state of Georgia in an all–American, Caucasian, middle class, Christian family. I am adopted, as I was born with a set of disabled parents who did
not have the capability to care for my four siblings and me. After being with a foster family for several years, the government finally placed my
siblings and me in the care of an excellent mother who soon adopted us. Through the eyes of a four–year–old little girl, life was perfect.
I am one of six children within my immediate family, five of which all have a disability ranging from mild to severe. I am not sure how it came to
be, but, I am the only sibling who does not have a disability. I have three brothers and two sisters. As time passed, my family, then merged with
another family, creating my now rather large blended family. I am currently one of ten children as I have five sisters and four brothers. The life
within my family is known to be a constant adventure as there is never a dull moment. For instance, due to the number of children we have that are
disabled, we are always traveling to therapies and doctor appointments. Through the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we never forget to slow down
and spend quality time with one another as we believe, a family is everything. As a family, not only do we believe that family is everything, we also
believe in keeping one's promises and commitments, advocating for the less fortunate, telling the truth, being respectful, and helping those in need.
Very much like my childhood, my mother was also raised by a single mother. Most lessons my mom has taken the time to instill in me, her mother also
instilled in her. At a young age, my mom had no choice but to care for her mother and younger sister due to her mother's illness. As my mom watched
her mother pass, she formed the character traits of strength, endurance, diligence, determination, and hard work as she found this to be the key to
success. During this incredibly tough time, my mother drew upon her Christian faith instilled in her by not only the example of her mother but her
grandmother and aunts as well.

First, picture an hourglass. Time is slipping by, like the sand in an hourglass. You have noticed that you need to do something before it's all over, right?
Here is the second premise. Human society has been around for tens of thousands of years. Thousands of generations of humans have walked the earth.
Yet, it seems that each and all of us have to learn the most important lessons from scratch
Here is the third premise. Few billion humans have existed throughout history. Of those, very few have left traces of their existence, apart from a few

Essay on The Meaning of Life
The Meaning of Life
My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such
meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned
above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no
meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined – life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than
define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so....show more content...
Life is a complicated twist of suffering, laughing, and learning all merging to tell a great story – or great many stories. Based on this view, "it is not the
end goal or outcome of life that gives life meaning but rather the quality of the story, the quality with which one lives out and develops his or her role."
At the time, this event seemed rather insignificant and did not merit remembrance. However, its catastrophic effects on my attitude that evening may
have helped to mold me into the person I have become. I learned that suffering through such an event, as childish as it was, is quite necessary in any
life. Such pains are part of an interminable cycle and only generate balance in one's life (p. 62, 'Life as Suffering'). Despite my horrid time spent that
evening, the laughter brought since the incident is a worthy tradeoff. Laughter is an all too necessary function of life, just as suffering and the wide
range of other emotions. "Some thinkers would emphasize the importance of sophistication in humor, but others would say that laughter itself is what
is important." Whatever the case may be, laughter is an important ingredient in life, and must not be taken for granted nor ignored.
Despite such emotional ties to life, I have also learned that life is not only about emotions. Those emotions are generated from the chain reactions
created endlessly in

Journey Essay
English Speech– Journeys
"To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive." In other words a journey and the experiences you have are better than the actual destination. The
novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain and the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost have taught me that journeys may
involves barriers and hardships, they can lead to significant personal change and more importantly journeys facilitate reflection about how you see
yourself, others and the world. Journeys are very important in personal change and growth. They can also help us in comparing and contrasting new
and old experiences.

In addition, "The Road Not Taken" also shows us how journeys allow for our reflection on many things. In the poem the traveller experiences an
obstacle or fork in the road. This allows the traveller to take in his surroundings whether that be the path ahead or the people around him. This is
shown when he states 'two roads diverged in a yellow wood'. The traveller has two options and to make a decision he has to really explore both of
them. Robert Frost uses this poem to express his belief in not always following the crowd and being an individual. Robert Frost uses conversational
language to create a sense of communication between the traveller and the reader and to enlighten the reflection that the traveller has made. After
comparing both paths and seeing every option his reflection about his journey changes. The traveller decides to go with the path less travelled. He
decides to be different.
Journeys can lead to significant personal change. The experiences you have on a journey can shape and change your perception of yourself and the
people around you. In 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' this is shown when Huck's beliefs change and he becomes more mature. Huck and Jim's
relationship also develops throughout the journey. Huck's perception of Jim at the beginning of the journey is very different compared to the end. At
the start Huck doesn't take Jim very seriously and has no compassion or respect for him. The influences of society have taught

When Learning Is A Lifelong Journey
When Learning Comes to Life John F. Kennedy regularly stated that, "learning and leadership are indispensable to one another" (Smith & Murray,
2002). This brief but poignant statement points to the fact that effective leaders are constantly learning; their education, both through formal and
informal channels, is a lifelong journey, rather than a destination. Serving as a Director in my organization while completing coursework toward my
Master's degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University's Catherine T. MacArthur School ofLeadership has provided me with a leadership laboratory, one
that simultaneously provides opportunities for daily learning and leading. Leadership, both in theory and in practice, can be observed, evaluated, and
understood within these two distinctly different environments. Now, over halfway through this graduate degree program, the path that remains still in
front of me is shorter than the one already behind me. The last 12 months of studies have caused significant change to the way that I view myself,
others around me, and the world as a whole. Personally, I have experienced immense growth as a leader. Specifically, I have noticed growth in the five
attributes of Goleman's (1998) emotional intelligence: self–awareness, self–regulation, internal motivation, empathy, and social skills. Additionally, I
have continued to develop my cultural intelligence, or ability to discern how culture and heritage influences individuals' thoughts, perceptions, priorities,

journey began in the same place before we were born into this world" (Henry B. Eyring, Brainy Quotes, Retrieved April 21, 2017). Each of us is
placed on this earth for a purpose that is only known to God. However, while we seek that purpose and His will, He has given us the free will to
behave and interact with our surroundings as we see fit. The discussion in this paper covers the spectrum of attributes and my current position among
them. Using the McGraw–Hill Connect assessment, I was not overly surprised by the results. Within the scope of my career, more specifically the last
five years, I...show more content...
Ultimately, I accept the moderate rating of personality. As depicted in other areas of the assessment, my personality is adaptable and flexible,

branded into the depths of my being. However, we are taught through the ten commandments, that there are many other values that are
exponentially more important. This assessment proved as much as it showed power as my lowest score. I know God has ultimate power and
while I have free will here on earth, He has control. The rest of the values measured in the medium and high levels of importance. The highest were
in achievement and in benevolence, which I feel are spot on. My drive stems from my ability to achieve the goals I have set in personal, family,
faith, and work environments. While at the same time, compassion in all areas of my life are integral. God showed His compassion and love when
He sent His Son in John 3:16, "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not
perish but have eternal life" (Holman Bible Publishers (Nashville, Tenn.), 2004, John 3:16). Motivation

Life Is A Highway

  • 1. Life is a Highway Noelle Dr. English ENC 102 T/Th 10 September 2013 Life is a Highway Life is a series of crossroads and decisions that ultimately draw the map of our journey. It is the big decisions, however, that we later recall and reflect on the most, because those decisions have made the biggest impact on our lives. When we read Robert Frost's poem The Road Not Taken, we are confronted with the travelers' difficulty in making an important decision, his chosen path, and ultimate outcome. Four years ago, I was living in Ft. Myers,...show more content... I also felt this way, telling myself I could always move back if things didn't work out. I told my friends, and my father, that I would be back often to visit, but even visits become few and far between. Two years after I moved, my father passed away. After his funeral, I never looked back and have not returned to Ft. Myers...life moving us forward. The traveler's decision is made, and he projects that when he is older, he will look back on his decision with reflection as demonstrated in the verse: "I shall be telling this with a sigh/Somewhere ages and ages hence" (Frost line 16–17). I interpret the "sigh" as one of relief that he made the right decision. The lines: "I took the one less traveled by/And that has made all the difference." (Frost line 19–20) imply the traveler took the more difficult, unknown road. It was the road "less traveled", the road "no step had trodden black" (Frost line 12), meaning few people decide to take the harder road to get to the next stop on the journey. It was the courageous choice. Taking this road was the right decision for him. I could have stayed in Ft. Myers in my comfort zone, but I took a leap of faith and switched paths. Has my decision to move to Ormond Beach made all the difference? Had I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Life Is A Daring Adventure Essay This is a very famous quote by Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." It all started by the relaxed and casual talks between my father and his best friends. I was elated to know that we were going for a vacation with five other families. That time, I had entered my 7th Year but I can still recall the experience, I had during my Diwali vacations with my family friends as we visited some thrilling, exciting and daring places in Sikkim & Darjeeling. The eastern parts of India have a refreshing and calm atmosphere with a pollution free environment. We began by traveling to Delhi and thereafter from Delhi we took a flight to Bagdogra. We had an exquisite travel to Sikkim by car where we stayed for 2–3 days and went to all the distinctive places of nearby areas. Sikkim is a fairly compact city which is bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal and it is a place of landscape and scenic beauty. The atmosphere of Sikkim was a little bit chilling but was very calm. In Sikkim, we visited Rumtek Monastery which is ancient Gompa, where we saw the lifestyles of Buddhist. We visited Tshangu lake and Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple which is popular because Baba Harbhajan...show more content... Rafting was a real adventure. When we reached the end place we all were playing in the water when suddenly one of my aunt's leg hurt with a fish hook at the bank of river. But doing rafting was a wonderful and dangerous adventure. Rafting in the river was very remarkable and pleasant as initially I felt very scared but after some time I thought it was a savouring moment. We also went to Mirik that is Indo–Nepal Border. Mirik is a picturesque tourist spot nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling. Mirik has become a popular tourist destination for its atmosphere, characteristic magnificence and easy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay on The Journey of Human Life Some people may describe their lives as being ordinary while others may say that their life is extraordinary in comparison. People at some point in their lives will have to make decisions that will take them down different paths, and the paths people choose will determine what journey they may face and what will become of their future. While human life can be described as a journey, it is often described as being either a physical or spiritual one for its travelers. First, human life can be depicted as a spiritual and physical journey for people in life. In the short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce, it tells of a man being hanged over the edge of the bridge and the events that transpire after the noose around...show more content... Phoenix says, "'Ghost,' she said sharply, 'who be you the ghost of? For I have heard of nary death close by" (Welty 315). This shows that she is imagining things in her own way by thinking that death may have come for her. The ghost may also be considered the bringer of death and she is not ready for it. When Phoenix reaches the city and is questioned about her grandson's health she states, "My grandson. It was my memory had left me. There I sat and forgot why I made my long trip" (Welty 318). Phoenix throughout her journey is waging a battle between her mind and reality. By the time she reaches her destination her mind was in question on why she was there and for what reason. The illusion of the scarecrow as a ghost and her mind forgetting her reasons for her journey represent a spiritual battle for phoenix. These are some reasons why life can be depicted in a journey. Furthermore, people can experience a physical and spiritual journey in life. In the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost, it tells of a journey that a person has to take when they are encountered with decisions. Frost writes, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood," (Line 1). This line describes a metaphorical situation where a person comes to a point where they have to choose between two things. Here in the poem he is describing the choice in the way a person should live life or which path he should make his Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Life Is A Journey Essay Somebody has rightly said "Life is a journey" and i completely agree with that person. In fact i believe, life is merely not a single journey, it is indeed a combination of various small journeys that teaches one or the other thing to a person and leave and ever lasting impact on his or her life. Today in this article, i am going to talk about one such journey of mine, which was for few hours but have left an everlasting impact on my mind forever. Delhi metro services– one of the best and the most commonly used transportation means in Delhi, it do not need and sort of introduction. But for the ones who don't know it, let me tell you– few decades back METROS were once those trains which can only be seen in discovery channel or in some hi–fi foreign magazines and in developed nations.But...show more content... "Two women can never stay quite" –source: unknown (no offence). This quote however proved to be partially wrong on them. Partially wrong? You wonder what do i mean by it – right? Here you go– these ladies were just like any other women–they had kids, had to cook food daily as per the liking of the family, take care of their daily needs, handle their job issues, bring joy in the family . spend time with them and most important of all– try to built a new identity for herself without losing the respect , care and support of her family and friends. BUT!! That's not all–these ladies in any of the normal language were incapable to speak or hear, but in my perception and according to me they were BLESSED by god and gifted by a special talent to – EXPRESS. We all are able to speak, write, listen and even talk but many of us are unable to EXPRESS themselves. While this talent or rather gift was with each of them. They neither had boundary of words, any language nor do they had any sort of vacuum lying among Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Journey Of Life Has Changed My Life The journey of life has thought me to be honest and loyal. As I arrive in the United States of America in the 2013, it was a dream come through. I made a promise to my parents that I will be a good child and stay out of trouble. It was tears of joy when it was time to say good bye to my parents. On my arrival at the Dallas airport, my uncle was there to welcome me and took me home. On our way home I couldn't believe my eyes that, the things I see on television am now having physical visual of them. After a month in United State of America I applied for a community college because I didn't want to over stay at home since I was in my third year in University in my country. But after my placement test I was accepted into the school. ...show more content... Even I believe in hard work pays but this work is hard and is not paying. After three months of working at the gas I saw there was no improvement in my paycheck and my manger keeps reducing my work hours for no reasons. So my love for the work began to fade away and decided not complain about it anymore because the more I complain the more it get worse. The only option was to quit the job without informing my manager in case I get a new job that pays well. Something unbelievable happened at work which changed my situation. After a long and busy night shift. Mostly I inform my manager before I clock out, for him to know am not going home with something which is not mine. As soon as I entered my manager's office, he told me to sit down. I was a little nervous because mostly when my manager asks me to sit for a conversation that's, there is a problem or a report from a customer. My manager told me a customer called to report a missing wallet and in case If I have seen it I should give it to me. I made it clear to my manager that I have no ideal of the missing wallet he is talking about. After I left my manager's office I decide to use the restroom before I leave for my house. After I was done with what I came to the restroom to do, I decided to change the trash can in the restroom since It was almost full. As I pull the trashcan and about to pull the trash bag out of the can, I saw a black wallet. I decided to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Life' Journey Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose in life. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout our travels, we will encounter many challenges. Some of these challenges will test our courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along the way, we may stumble upon obstacles that will come between the paths that we are destined to take. In order to follow the right path, we must overcome these obstacles. Sometimes these obstacles are really blessings in disguise, only we don't realize that at the time. • 7. My Personal Journey Essays Journeys are moments in life that define and reconstruct the myths we create about ourselves and others. All too often the ideals of a biased community or select group are viewed as the model by which all individuals must follow. To escape the pressures of a collective standard a person must travel outside the constraints of a community and discover his or her own true identity. On such a journey one can expect moments of planned reflection or unexpected instances of revelation. A journey is everyminute of my existence, as I travel through life and try to ascertain my own presence in its cycle. An essential journey occurred three years ago when I set out on a personal pilgrimage. I wanted to re–travel the time line of the past few...show more content... I had only been camping once or twice and even then it was with all the comforts of modern camping gear. Was I ready for this? As my guide paddled away I looked down at my feet and surveyed the few preparations which I had brought. I had a sleeping bag; a tarp; a yard of string; two bags of food, which were little more than fruits, nuts, and cheese; two canteens of warm water; and the clothes on my back, which I had layered several deep. Before I would even attempt to sort through the real reasons why I had come on this trip I decided to set camp. As I looked about me, I saw that there was not one smooth area within a hundred yards. Because I had to be within whistling distance of my guide, in case of an emergency, I could not wander off. The first place I looked was the rocky stretch of beach. As I walked along looking for a small cave or shelter I noticed dozens of minuscule creatures. These were not companions or friendly wild animals but small biting sand fleas. Now I knew that no matter how much I wanted to assimilate myself with nature there was a limit to my experience. I just couldn't envision myself happily brushing off sand fleas all night so I decided to look up in the patch of evergreens that sheltered the beach. After trudging through soggy moss and swampish soil I found two evergreens that stood alone on a small cliff. I strung up my tarp to try and create the most comfortable Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. My Journey As A Personal Journey In My Life When teenagers transition from the simpler days, such as riding a bicycle, to the world of young adulthood and responsibilities, there are a lot of adjustments made in the way they live life. Teenagers learn that not everyone has the free time to draw with Crayola markers and play outside everyday; they learn that time is precious and it needs to be used wisely as they deal with real–life problems such as keeping up with academics, staying involved in extracurricular activities and in the community, deciding what career path to take, maintaining their responsibilities at home, being a good friend to others, a good follower of their religion, and a good member to their community. What is unique about teenagers than other age groups is that they must experience a new step of personal growth: puberty. Being a teenager myself, I have learned that as the years go by, life definitely gets more challenging, but there is no challenge that I am afraid to accept. The moment I entered high school was a monumental change in my life. I walked in with one goal in mind: I want to be involved. Three years have passed and I am proud to say that I accomplished that big aspiration of my 14–year–old self. Finding balance is certainly the key to keep moving forward in life. As I maintain a big plate of responsibilities consisting of my job, future career, family, friends, and school, all of these parts in my life have encouraged my growth as an individual: physically, mentally, and emotionally. My spectacular abilities and inner spirit are shining and flourishing more than they have ever been my entire life. At this point in time, I can absolutely look back at my 17 years of life and humbly say, "I made it." One of the first things that is advised when you enter high school is to be involved. At the time, it was such a broad statement that I was confused on what it meant to "be involved". Slowly enough, I found myself falling into place in a myriad of clubs and activities I never thought I would see myself being apart of. Besides being a general member of Best Buddies International and Interact Club, I currently hold a high position in many others. • 10. A Life Long Journey Nursing, A Life Long Journey "They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel," said Maya Angelou an African American poet and novelist (Fox–Genovese, 1990). This quote shows the extent of people's actions. This includes everyone on a day to day basis and more significantly, the role a nurse plays. A nurse can impact an individual on various levels. For example, a nurse witnesses people at the most vulnerable times and helps them through. On top of that, Nursing is a profession that will never fade away. The human life cycle is continuous, and people are always going to need medical attention. Therefore, in society there will always be a necessity for professional nurses. This paper will describe why I chose the nursing profession, what a professional is, what the future of nursing looks like and why evidence based research is important to my future of nursing. Why I Chose the Nursing Profession Becoming a nurse has been a life long dream of mine. I remember watching medical television shows as a child, wanting to do what the doctors and nurses were doing. As I grew up I always told people, "I am going to be a nurse one day!" When I was in first grade I broke my leg jumping on a tramp. I remember going to the doctor and getting a crabby nurse that almost made me cry. After the incident, I made a promise to myself, I was never going to be a nurse like that if I became one. I started working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) when I was sixteen. I decided to become a CNA was to see if the medical field was something I wanted to purse or if it was just a childhood fantasy. After working a few weeks as a CNA, I knew I had chosen the right career path. Besides my love for helping other people, the average income for a nurse impacted my decision too. I know I can make a living and support a family working as a nurse. Which leads me to the reason I am in the Associate Nursing Program today. I decided to further my education. I believe I have the empathy, kindness, and a caring heart to be an effective nurse. I thoroughly enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in someone's life. • 11. The Importance of Journeys Essay The Importance of Journeys A thorough study of journeys reveals that a journey is much more than just movement from one place to another. Journeys are about learning and growth, and they have the potential to teach people about themselves and the society in which they live. An Imaginative Journey is one in which the individual doesn't in fact have to go anywhere in the physical sense. The physical journey is replaced by an expedition that is fuelled by the human capacity to imagine. Imaginative Journeys create endless possibilities. They can offer an escape from the realities of life, and are frequently used to comment on social or human traits and characteristics. Imaginative...show more content... Prospero, on his island, is in command. It is his imagination that has conjured up his scheme for revenge and the journey is his to have power over. Throughout the play, Prospero also experiences a journey of wisdom and appreciation. He learns more regarding the social order in which he lives and experiences self–realisation and discovers his identity. Prospero learns that revenge on his enemies is not the best answer "Yet with my nobler reason 'gainst my fury Do I take part. The rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance", and through his change, other characters such as Alonso learn something about themselves and others such a Miranda and Ferdinand find love– "Beyond all limits of what else I' th' world, Do love, prize, honour you." The imaginative setting for Prospero's island allows for the unbelievable to take place. Because of the situation, Shakespeare can exercise his imagination to generate characters and thoughts that are not possible in a realistic setting. The island is a place of magic and imagination. The magic of Prospero, Ariel and the other spirits, Caliban and the masque all persuade the audience, to suspend disbelief and accept imagination. Shakespeare has created the magic so that the audience will be enticed by the opportunity to escape from the real world, and experience encounters beyond the surface of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. My Life : Life Is A Journey For My World Life is a journey and by choosing my path, I create my destination. My journey started on the day I was born, July 16th, 1999, but it was not until March 20th, 2016 that my destination was drawn with passion. On that day, I came to America with tears dropped on my mom's face, with great pressure on my shoulder, with a strong determination to live well, to live happily. On that day, I promised myself that I will succeed to prove that if someone considers my studying abroad as wasting money and time, they were wrong. On that day, I knew that I would be the one who makes my mother proud of me and ensures a happy life for her. Without a strong financial support, studying abroad was too hard to complete, for most of the people, but not for my mother and me. We believed in ourselves, in each other and in the goal that we have set, hoping one day I would come back to my country with great knowledge and skills that I have learned in America. Our hope was a red light of fire that led us to the destination we set, our hope was a plan that gave us the motivation to wake up in the morning and tried our best to fulfill, our hope was so strong that it magically provided me the power to truly believe that I could do it no matter how other people thought. The day I hold the flight ticket in my hand, I could not believe that my life would have a whole new chapter, in the country that Vietnamese people called it "America Dream", where a 16–year–old girl would begin her study. The knowledge I have gained and theory I have completed through assessments and in class discussions and tasks has broadened my understanding of learning. It is evident through this text that the theoretical perspectives focused on in this subject have had a place in the process of my learning journey throughout the semester. Whether this learning has been learning a new skill for an assessment, observing learning and assisting teaching on placement or collaborative learning in the tutorials, it is clear a number of theories tie into these learning experiences. One challenge was assisting a boy in the class who had special needs. The class began with their Reading Workshop and first off everyone was required to read a chapter of their book to a class mate or Pre Service Teacher. Although the boy I was working with refused to read to me, I began to use a number of strategies to motivate him to complete the task at hand. • 14. Life is a journey, not a destination. My journey as an individual has had highs and lows as my story is unique and not like most others. I grew up in the state of Georgia in an all–American, Caucasian, middle class, Christian family. I am adopted, as I was born with a set of disabled parents who did not have the capability to care for my four siblings and me. After being with a foster family for several years, the government finally placed my siblings and me in the care of an excellent mother who soon adopted us. Through the eyes of a four–year–old little girl, life was perfect. I am one of six children within my immediate family, five of which all have a disability ranging from mild to severe. I am not sure how it came to be, but, I am the only sibling who does not have a disability. I have three brothers and two sisters. As time passed, my family, then merged with another family, creating my now rather large blended family. I am currently one of ten children as I have five sisters and four brothers. The life within my family is known to be a constant adventure as there is never a dull moment. For instance, due to the number of children we have that are disabled, we are always traveling to therapies and doctor appointments. Through the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we never forget to slow down and spend quality time with one another as we believe, a family is everything. As a family, not only do we believe that family is everything, we also believe in keeping one's promises and commitments, advocating for the less fortunate, telling the truth, being respectful, and helping those in need. Very much like my childhood, my mother was also raised by a single mother. Most lessons my mom has taken the time to instill in me, her mother also instilled in her. At a young age, my mom had no choice but to care for her mother and younger sister due to her mother's illness. As my mom watched her mother pass, she formed the character traits of strength, endurance, diligence, determination, and hard work as she found this to be the key to success. During this incredibly tough time, my mother drew upon her Christian faith instilled in her by not only the example of her mother but her grandmother and aunts as well. There are only hypotheses, conjectures, indirect evidences and lot more question and no definitive unquestionable answers. I feel i am lost in the wilderness of the journey of life. But i am findable. Life is a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination. Is death a destination? People will come and go into our lives, but sometimes we are lucky to meet that one special person who will stay in our hearts and lives forever. • 16. Essay on The Meaning of Life The Meaning of Life My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined – life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so....show more content... Life is a complicated twist of suffering, laughing, and learning all merging to tell a great story – or great many stories. Based on this view, "it is not the end goal or outcome of life that gives life meaning but rather the quality of the story, the quality with which one lives out and develops his or her role." At the time, this event seemed rather insignificant and did not merit remembrance. However, its catastrophic effects on my attitude that evening may have helped to mold me into the person I have become. I learned that suffering through such an event, as childish as it was, is quite necessary in any life. Such pains are part of an interminable cycle and only generate balance in one's life (p. 62, 'Life as Suffering'). Despite my horrid time spent that evening, the laughter brought since the incident is a worthy tradeoff. Laughter is an all too necessary function of life, just as suffering and the wide range of other emotions. "Some thinkers would emphasize the importance of sophistication in humor, but others would say that laughter itself is what is important." Whatever the case may be, laughter is an important ingredient in life, and must not be taken for granted nor ignored. Despite such emotional ties to life, I have also learned that life is not only about emotions. Those emotions are generated from the chain reactions created endlessly in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain and the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost have taught me that journeys may involves barriers and hardships, they can lead to significant personal change and more importantly journeys facilitate reflection about how you see yourself, others and the world. Journeys are very important in personal change and growth. They can also help us in comparing and contrasting new and old experiences. In addition, "The Road Not Taken" also shows us how journeys allow for our reflection on many things. In the poem the traveller experiences an obstacle or fork in the road. This allows the traveller to take in his surroundings whether that be the path ahead or the people around him. This is shown when he states 'two roads diverged in a yellow wood'. The traveller has two options and to make a decision he has to really explore both of them. Robert Frost uses this poem to express his belief in not always following the crowd and being an individual. Robert Frost uses conversational language to create a sense of communication between the traveller and the reader and to enlighten the reflection that the traveller has made. After comparing both paths and seeing every option his reflection about his journey changes. The traveller decides to go with the path less travelled. He decides to be different. Journeys can lead to significant personal change. The experiences you have on a journey can shape and change your perception of yourself and the people around you. In 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' this is shown when Huck's beliefs change and he becomes more mature. Huck and Jim's relationship also develops throughout the journey. Huck's perception of Jim at the beginning of the journey is very different compared to the end. At the start Huck doesn't take Jim very seriously and has no compassion or respect for him. This brief but poignant statement points to the fact that effective leaders are constantly learning; their education, both through formal and informal channels, is a lifelong journey, rather than a destination. Serving as a Director in my organization while completing coursework toward my Master's degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University's Catherine T. MacArthur School ofLeadership has provided me with a leadership laboratory, one that simultaneously provides opportunities for daily learning and leading. Leadership, both in theory and in practice, can be observed, evaluated, and understood within these two distinctly different environments. Now, over halfway through this graduate degree program, the path that remains still in front of me is shorter than the one already behind me. The last 12 months of studies have caused significant change to the way that I view myself, others around me, and the world as a whole. Personally, I have experienced immense growth as a leader. Specifically, I have noticed growth in the five attributes of Goleman's (1998) emotional intelligence: self–awareness, self–regulation, internal motivation, empathy, and social skills. Additionally, I have continued to develop my cultural intelligence, or ability to discern how culture and heritage influences individuals' thoughts, perceptions, priorities, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
