My Great Grandparents
My great grandparents mean the world to me and it was very hard for me when they started to become sick. They have inspired me to be the best I
can be and to never give up. They were very nice and awesome people, a lot of people looked up to them, including me. They lived in Indiana which
meant I didn't get to see them a lot but when I did it was the best times of my childhood. When we would go over there, my cousins, my brother, and I
would play with the stuffed animals they had and we would hang out with family. One of my favorite memories of going down to visit was going to
see the campus of Notre Dame. My grandparents have created a name for the Berges family there and now since they both died, Notre Dame is one of
the only places I have left of them. Without knowing my great grandparents I don't know who I would be today.
My great grandpa was a very smart guy. He was the brains of our family. One thing that always makes me feel good is that my family believes that i'm
taking after my grandpa with the brains because we share a lot of the same traits. For example we both love to read and we both love history very
much. My great grandfather has helped to to become who I am today by being a role model for me and inspiring me to be succeed in not only
academically but in life. My great grandpa has inspired a lot of people in his life and he means a lot to a lot of people and I want to someday be able to
say the same thing about me. This is why I want to go to Notre Dame more

Descriptive Essay About My Grandparents
When I was younger my family moved houses a lot. I never really had a place where I grew up as a child. We moved houses a lot i didn't really get to
have my height on the walls and get to paint my room my own way. However there was one place that never really changed and that was my
grandparents house. There house was like my second home I would be over there almost every evening and every weekend. It was my home away
from home. I had an area where all of my clothes were so when I slept over it made it easier. I actually lived there for a small amount of time. That
house held so many memories for me. I spent so many birthdays and holidays there. When i was there and my grandma was at work I would stay with
my grandpa in his garage. He had...show more content...
She would put enough syrup so it would spill over the edges and a cold glass of milk. She always made my pancakes just the way I liked them.
They would be crispy on the edges and and soft in the center. After that we would spend the day together. Being the only grandkid at the time I
Would get all of her attention so we would play and make crafts all day. One day we decided we wanted to become painters so we went out and
bought a lot of colorful paint. We then went back home and set up a painting area on the side of the house. We put out white sheets on the floor
and on the side of the house. When we started we were really trying. It was perfect because there was a slight breeze. You could just hear the
rustling of the trees and the birds chirping. They lived in an area that was not very busy so we got quietness. We stayed like that for some time.
Then my grandma dipped her paintbrush in the container. She didn 't take the excess paint off so it was dripping all over the white sheet. She then
gave a smile that said she was up to something. She splattered the paint all over the canvas and the white sheet. She even got some on me. Thats
when the paint war started we started to fiick our brushes at eachother. We were covered head to toe with paint. My grandpa came out of the garage
to see what all the giggling was about. When he came near us my grandma and i looked at eachother and smiled. We started to flick paint to my grandpa

Being Thankful For My Grandparents
I am thankful for a lot in life, but I've just chosen three and those are my Grandparents, my family, and vacations. When someone is thankful for
something, they are showing respect and gratitude towards the gift or person. "Strive to find things to be thankful for, and just look for the good in
who you are!"– Bethany Hamilton. Being thankful is something I strongly try to do because I think it's a great virtue. I am so thankful for my
grandma. She is always there for me, she picks me up when I fall, cheers me up when I'm down, and like all grandmas she gives me money. When
I'm down, she is always right there next to me telling me jokes, giving me candy, and comforting me with hugs, kisses, and a back rub. My
grandma drives me places all the time. She drives me to soccer practice, soccer games, movies, big air, anywhere that I basically want to go, have
to go, or even just to have fun. My favorite place to go with her is to the movies because my grandma has the sweetest sweet tooth ever! When we
are at the movies she let's us get icee's, big candy boxes, popcorn, soda, whatever we want. When we are at the movies we always movie hop too.
We go from one movie to another. My grandma also gives me a lot of money. Anytime I see her, she always has some sort of gift or something. One
time she found this brush for my mother and sister, but she couldn't find anything for my brother and I so she just gave us a $10 bill to make it fair. I
always look forward to seeing my grandma

Family Life Of Members From My Great Grandparents
1) The family life of members from my great–grandparents' generation is certainly very different than mine now. Most likely, they never had the
opportunity to meet their own great–grandparents' or have a relationship with all of their grandparents. In contrast, my great–grandmother lived until I
was three years old and I had contact with my four grandparents until one of my grandfathers passed when I was 10. Therefore, individuals of my
generation are able to form close bonds with their elders and learn from their experiences, while those in the past did not get such an opportunity
usually. In fact, some people my age get to live in the same house as their grandparents, resulting in more time to spend together versus the past. Next,
there is currently a lesser age gap between siblings and parents are having fewer offspring, so closer bonds can be formed and more attention can be
given to the children. In addition, since people on average are living significantly longer than during my great–grandparents' time, families now have to
make difficult decisions regarding their elder relatives' lives that may impact relationships. Finally, extended families are becoming even larger today
than during the 20th century with half–siblings, step–parents, and other "new" types of relatives. Therefore, especially after divorce, today's individuals
have to decide how much contact to have with them and the type of relationship that will exist. 2) This piece entitled "The High Cost of

Essay About My Grandparents
Everyone has someone in their life that gives them a great amount of inspiration. The people that have given me the most inspiration are my
Grandparents. My Grandmother has done a great deal for me in my life. My Grandfather has done something with his life that nobody expected
him to do. My Grandparents have greatly changed my life. If it was not for them, I would not be the person I am today. My Grandmother is a great
person inside and out. My Grandmother has been very generous to me throughout my life. She has basically raised me from the day I was born. She
shows her generosity throughout every aspect of her life. One cold day a emaciated little dog showed up at her house, now most people would have

My Grandfather is a shining example of what hard work can get you. Growing up, my Grandpa had a very hard life, filled with hand–me–downs and a
low food supply. Life was hard and bills were high. Education wasn't a high priority in his family, so he found no reason to go on through high school.
He decided to get a job at a gas station, but after a while he thought long and hard about the direction he wanted to go with his life and that he
wanted his children to have all the opportunities they wanted. That was when he and his brother came up with an idea, an idea that would morph
into a thriving business. They decided to start H&H Industries in Oak hill at first a small one room building, then growing into a huge building and
garage with profits soaring through the roof. Through this my Grandpa has shown me that working hard can get you anywhere you want to go in
life. He has shown me how much hard work and determination mean. What it means to truly work hard for something. I look up to my Grandfather
in the sense that he started from nothing and went so far. I try to live my life this way as well, working hard at school and at everything else I do in
my life. My Grandfather has made a lasting influence on my

Childhood Memories of my Grandparents' Home Essay
When I think back to the days when I was a child, I think about all of my wonderful childhood memories. Often I wish to go back, back to that point in
life when everything seemed simpler. Sometimes I think about it too much, knowing I cannot return. Yet there is still one place I can count on to take
me back to that state of mind, my grandparent's house and the land I love so much.
Their house was old. My grandparents lived in it most of their adult lives. It was white with black trimming, but most of the paint was chipped away.
On the back porch was firewood all year long. No matter if it was winter; spring, summer, or fall the wood was always there. Red, yellow, purple
flowers grew alongside the house all spring and summer....show more content...
My grandparents owned 80 acres, and I would roam each and every inch. Running through the soaring weeds, and jumping over any log that would get
in my path just to end up falling to the ground out of complete exhaustion.
There is something to be said about lying on one's back in an open field hour upon hour staring up at a huge blue sky. With no one around and not
another house for miles, it is a great place to be alone, to listen. In that field, I could pick up all the wonderful sounds of nature commonly
misplaced by all the buzz of the city. The wind spoke as it blew across the land, whistling through the tall weeds and the colossal of trees. Crickets
rub their wings composing a song for everyone to hear. I soaked in all the beauty of the surrounding landscape. There was towering groves of trees,
creek beds lined with wildflowers producing delightful fragrances, and sunsets that would take your breath away. Still I walked cautiously, for all
of lands beauty; trouble could still take form, whether it was running into a slithering snake or stumbling across a prickly thistle. The pond was one
of my favorite places, for it was where I learned how to fish and skip rocks across the water. I would sit alongside the banks and listed to the familiar
sound of the bullfrogs bellowing their presents. I think if the pond could tell a story it would be of the one that

December at My Grandparents' House Essay
It stood out from all the rest in the peaceful neighborhood where my grandparent's house was. The glittering white paint that seemed to never fade,
the garden where rose bushes, lilies, elephant ears, trumpet plants and hibiscus filled the earth around you with welcoming colors and the sense of
warmth and love. Every awaking moment of my childhood was spent there. My grandparents house was a place of comfort and security, and yet also
one of sorrow. December never fails. It is the coldest month of the entire year, every year, yet that never stopped anyone from gathering at my
grandparent's house for my birthday and Christmas. During my birthdays, the air was filled with the sweet aroma of barbeque, the laughter of kids, and

In 2004, when Corpus had the first snowfall in years, our sanctuary turned into the main home for all the new snow festivities. The front yard was
embellished with tiny snow–men and snow–women, snow angels, and tiny footsteps imprinted in the snow, and the sound of snowballs crashing
against the jacket of another contender in the all out snow battle. Once inside the house, the smell of ham, tamales, pecan pie and homemade bread
filled every angle. Presents signified the ending of the once a year holiday. December at my grandparents was a month filled with love and happiness.
Sunday signified the last day to relax before school, work and babysitting within the week to come. My mom, dad, aunts and their families would all
come to my grandparent's home for a barbeque lunch and Sunday football. It was a family tradition that began before grandchildren were even in the
picture. It consisted of the same food each time, barbeque chicken, ribs, fajitas, rice, beans, potato salad and tea. We would gather outside around the
pit listening to my grandfather telling stories of the old days or just talking about whatever was on his mind. Stories on how he built his home,
worked to support his family and his goals and dreams for our future. The house was more than just a place of gathering but the dedication and hard
work of a single man trying to achieve better for his family. Our Sunday gatherings lasted up until the summer of June 2001, when my

The Story Of Losing A Grandparent In My Life
When you think of losing a grandparent in your life, you think of them passing away. You dread the day you will get the call that they are sick. You
then begin to cherish all the moments you have with them leading up to their passing. You have time to except their sickness, and come to terms
with the outcome that is to come. My PopPop is not here anymore, but do not get confused, for he is alive. I did not have warning. I did not have
time to cherish him. I did not have time to say goodbye. My PopPop was on no medication, which was almost uncanny for a 75–year–old. Trying to
encompass everything he was boils down to a few things that may not seem like much to someone who didn't know him. He went on a walk every
night after dinner, and would whistle the same tune when he was happy. He played the same little ditty on the piano every time we were all in the
living room. He was a simple man who could not harm a fly, and a good man. Unlike the grandchild warned when they are going to lose a
grandparent, I did not have this notice. I did not have time to go on one last walk with him, and I did not have time to record him on the piano. I did
not have time to replicate his whistling song, or to spend time with the man I knew. My PopPop was the heathiest man I knew, but then he got
depression. First slowly, then all at once. The man I knew had slipped from my fingers without any chance to hold on tighter. The time he started to
dissolve was right around the time I started high

My Experience With My Grandparents
My entire life I have lived with or in close proximity to my grandparents. I have had countless conversations with them through my life. But the older
I noticed our conversations diminishing and becoming less frequent due to my busy schedule. When this assignment was introduced to me, I jumped
at the opportunity to interview and reconnect with one of my grandparents. I decided on interviewing my grandmother because she is comfortable
with english and our native language, tagalog. By speaking to someone I am blood related to and grew up with, I automatically gained a sense of
rapport. If I interviewed a stranger, I feel it would have been more difficult to gain their trust. Geertz explains in his article Daedalus, how him and his
wife struggled to gain the acceptance of a certain group of people and of how one day they finally gained their trust. He states, "In Bali, to be teased is
to be accepted. It was the turning point so far as our relationship to the community was concerned, and we are quite literally "in"" (Geertz, 2005:59).
While conducting my interview, one tip I used that Joseph Hermanowicz suggested was to "Play the innocent sometimes,"(Hermanowicz, 2002:486).
Since the interviewee was a relative, this tip was used many times throughout the interview. At many points during the interview my grandmother
would say something like, "I've told you this many times already." Although this was true, I noticed playing the innocent and convincing her to retell
me those

My Grandparents
As a child, I was raised in an uppity, wealthy family. I was the child of the family failure. My Grandparents raised me. I was the child of the
youngest and most enabled of the 11 kids my grandparents had. My father was a meth addict and my mother was selfish who was more concerned
with her image and social life than her children. My grandmother loved me because she had children one after the other. By the time she was a
master parent, all of her children had left the nest. With empty nest syndrome, she was all too happy to accept her name sake into her life and raise
a little girl that was did not include an army of screaming children on top of the small infant she was handed. My grandmother never realized the
amount of favoritism she displayed caused me a terrible childhood by my relatives. I was abused verbally and physically due to jealousy of her
adult children and her other grandchildren just followed the example. My father, due to his drug addiction was not respected or treated as a parent.
He was not allowed an opinion, at all. They began to make claims that were false, including an opinion I had mental health issues. One of my uncles
had adopted a son with his previous wife and had been raising him fine until his divorce to my previous aunt due to his adultery with my current aunt.
My aunt had 3 children from her previous marriage. When my uncle married my new aunt, they decided that they were no longer interested in raising
my adopted cousin and began to claim

My Grandparents House Essay
Ever since I was a little girl, hearing the words "Grandma's house", would light up my eyes and bring a sparkle to my smile. The thought of being in
a place where I have found comfort, joy, and pure love, brings me bittersweet emotions that I cannot define with words. My grandparents' house is
my happy place, and all I wish is to savor my moments there and forever keep the memories close to my heart. I've been going to my grandparent's
house since I was just a baby, and still go there very frequently today. It is almost as if new memories unfold each year there, and there is always
something new to look forward to. Just last year, my grandparents got a puppy, so that unlocked an entirely new adventure in their life. We have
discovered new recipes to make together, and some rooms have even been revamped. With the new things, the old will always remain. The familiar
scent when I walk in, the taste of the food, the comfort of lying on the couches, and the joy of the company. These things will endure forever deep
in my heart. My most vivid memories of my grandma's house were from the summers. My two brothers and I would go there each week with my
four cousins, and my grandparents treated the seven of us like royalty. Nick, Michael, Chris, Brenna, Paulie, Frankie, and myself. We were one crazy
bunch. Beginning with the places we would go, such as Kiddie Land, Great America, arcades, pools, and everywhere in between. Whether it be local,
far away, or right at the house, the fun

My Grandparent Era
In my grandparents' era, many people were having hard times with their financial and social support for the families because they had to deal with an
invasion of the Japan from 1910 through 1945 and they had been experienced the family lost during the Korean War. Many people survived from the
hardships in these situations so that they could give better environments for the future generations. My grandparents were meeting each other during
the Japanese invasion era during the 1930s because they did not have choices to listen to their parents in the future. Therefore, my grandparents got
married each other and had many kids in the later. Also, my grandparents found the partners from the different families in that time so that they could
get married in happy lives. In Korean Society, marriage arrangement between two families became trends so that they could listen to their parents and
have kids to live in the society. My grandparents and parents era, they were thought that finding the partner or their children is very important to have a
secure family life. However, most of the young people are postpone their marriage because they have a hard time to find jobs to prepare for a marriage.
In the Grandparents' era, my grandparents were met from the marriage arrangement in between two families because they believed that parents had a
big role to let their children to get married and have kids later. Also, most of the people listened to their parents during that era because they

My Grandparents And Great Grandparents
Pouring rain on the lush green foliage of Southwestern Mississippi marked my birthday; born April 3, 1938, on Poplar Hill Plantation in Jefferson
County, Mississippi, the eighth of thirteen children. My parents, Willie Jackson and Sarah Whitney Jackson spent their entire lives in Jefferson County,
born, baptized, married in 1926, died and their final resting place, the Poplar Hill Cemetery behind the church. Family stories of the experiences during
the Civil War and reconstruction, seldom talked about, the guilt of beatings, the shame of miscegenation, the humiliation of these events became the
secrets to keep. Consequently, families who suffered through those ugly times, did not speak of them and did not want the children to hear those...show

Farming was our life, generation to generation, once a farmer always a farmer, what we knew was working in the fields of Poplar Hill, working
from sun up until dark, we knew little else. In the spring, planting and then you go to school, the fall harvesting first and then school. My school was a
small building of about 900 square feet, a two–room school house, with a moveable wall in the center, it divided the grades first through fourth and
grades fifth through eighth. Along the outer wall, to stave off the winter chill was a wood–burning stove, collecting wood to burn a task for the
younger children, the older students oversaw keeping the fire going during class time. Homespun benches, no desks, no books (from first grade
through fourth grade) pencils, paper, we had none, we did have an hour for lunch (that's if you had one), and then back inside to learn. Comfort at
school was not paramount, we sat on benches made of hard wood, of course a desk was out of the question. Lunch time was great, except for the
students who did not have a lunch, my older siblings remembered having little or nothing for their lunches. Lunch for me was a biscuit with preserved
fruit or a boiled sweet potato, maybe a hard–boiled egg, once we finished eating there was time for play, recess in the front yard of the school, if you
had a ball we played catch, hide–n–seek, tag, if you had a piece of rope we jumped rope, maybe a game of tag, and we made up

Biography Of My Grandmother
My grandmother, Kathy A Gerdes was born March 10, 1947 and has done many great things in her life. She excelled in everything because she is
very strong and determined to do things. Growing up, I was always with her and watching her do things which is why I look up to her. It wasn't
until she moved in with us until I got to have a strong relationship and get to see the kind loving person she is. This biography portrays what she
has accomplished and how she is loving and strong. As a child, my grandma had a very simple life even though her parents were strict. She grew
up in New Prague, Minnesota, by the old creamery. She had 3 siblings, Rosie, Roman, and Tony. They are all older than her and each sibling is
about 10 years apart. Her dad owned a barber shop and her mom was stay at home. My grandma had to do many chores around the house including
dishes, cleaning, garden work, shoveling snow, and many other things. She was always expected to do her chores for the day after school or she
would be in trouble. Her parents were very conservative catholics. Her family had to go to church every Sunday and they didn't have a choice if they
wanted to go or not.
Kathy had many memories as a child. She loved to play outside all of the time. She played things like hide n' seek, ring around the frypan, Jacks, and
marbles with shooters. She played many guy sports like football and basketball because she always played with boys that lived around her. She also
loved to go ice skating. My

Speech On My Grandparents House Essay
A visit to my grandparents house meant two things: an endless amount of spoiling and a lesson to be learned. At their house, I had access to a
drawer filled with all of my favorite candy, I turned the tree in their front yard into a secret hut that we saw as a mystical castle, and I always had
my wants catered to. My grandparents never let me be bored because even a hint dullness would result in a list of activities to do. Every visit
ended with a lesson that would have been learned from the expression on my grandparent's faces, shared with me through the conversations or told
to me directly from a bible verse read by my grandmother. I received years of praise from both my grandma and my grandpa. However, the time I
spent with the two of them did not lack lecturing. The firm expressions accompanied by a stoic finger pointing at me made me want to avoid
making mistakes so I would never have to see the disappointment on their faces again. Like every other child, I made my fair share of mishaps, yet
I was always forgiven for my actions. The days spent at my grandparents left me filled with stories to share and food forced upon me. The positive
praises contrasted by scolds at my grandparents house shape who I am today. Once the bump of the railroad tracks bounces me out of my leather
seat, I know I am close to seeing the familiar smile of two of the most important people in my life. With the final turn, I prepare myself for a day of
being pampered. This mundane drive occurred

My Grandfather– The Gift of My Life
If I could be like anybody, I would wish to become more like my late grandfather, whose memories have inspired me to strive for success, like the
smell of old, dusty books which reminds me of his admiration on learning. An avid collector, he had many books, most of which went unread. He
owned books on everything from medicine to Spain, to several sets of encyclopedias. After he faced health problems, he came less to the library
and read fewer books. They became just part of the scenery, collecting only dust and memories. I have read a few now, after he is gone, and each
time it brings back a hurt like a sore that refuses to heal. But I suppose it is a quest of sorts, because if can take on his thirst...show more content...
This house had two floors with three bedrooms on the top floor and the storage rooms, where some of the goats also stayed, on the ground floor. The
house was built in the late 1800s before my father was born, it was my grandfather's skills in organizing family members and his strategic direction, of
delegating the business operation to his several sons, according to their skills and abilities. The result is a strong group interaction that has created the
foundation of our family business, which is considered one of the most successful family businesses in Yemen. However, I believe it is his independent
endeavor that established his early success in business, as is evident by the roughness of his hands, a roughness resulting from the labor of his work
throughout his life. At the same time, my father told me he would hold my father's hands, so gently with his rough hands when having a conversation
with my father.
The saddest part of my memories of grandpa was the day my father took me along with him to visit my dying grandfather, whose eyes seemed to be
drifting aimlessly around the room while his body and face remained numb. I still recall staring at his tanned and wrinkled skin that covered his
forearms and showed his veins in painful detail, and at the way he sometimes used his heel to scratch at his other leg.

My Grandparents Speech
Many people only have the privilege of seeing their grandparents on birthdays and other holidays. Luckily for me, I see mine almost every week.
My grandparents, specifically my mom's parents, have both played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. My grandpa, or "Pa",
especially, has been more of a father to me than my own. He has held an essential role in my life, and is continually shaping me each day. My grandpa
is a strong–willed and old fashioned man. He likes to do things his way. In addition, he always works hard and provides for his family. Throughout the
course of my rather short life, my grandpa has taught me many lessons. Here are three stories that stick out to me the most. They taught me to be
adventurous, to work hard, and to get back up after failure. The whole family was there, as my grandpa decided to make a big purchase. He was
buying a 2005 Chevy SSR convertible, and five year old me was ecstatic. After a long night of waiting for all the details to be worked out, the car
was his. Me, being the bratty kid I was, jumped in and said, "I get the first ride!" On my first ride, I remember the roar of the engine. "That sounds
like kitties purring." I said. My grandpa laughed and said, "You are right. Those are kitties!" I exclaimed, "Well then make those kitties purr!" He
laughed and revved the engine as I stuck my hands out into the wind, laughing and yelling as I did so. The fun continued as we continued to laugh and
yelled, "Faster!

My Grandparents Journey
Long ago...... way before any of my older siblings were born, my parents migrated from Mexico to the United States. Once they traveled here, they
experienced some difficulties. Their problems were stable, thanks to the fact that my parents had some money and they had many helpful family
members that already lived before my parents. Even with the help, my parents had to find a way to adjust to their new living, and environment.
Knowing they had a bright future ahead, they made the best of everything and just kept on moving forward.
In the beginning of my parents journey together, they migrated here (24 years ago), as they got here they lived with my uncle for a good amount of
time. This movement into their house, was only up until the time that my Father collected enough of money for both my parents to live off of. While
my father was on the journey of finding a new job, we were tremendously helped by all our family members. Soon after, my Father finds a job in
construction where they spoke Spanish to a standard he would understand they collected money and had no expenses. My Mother.... such a generous,
nice, loving, and strict person, was expecting a bundle of joy (baby) from my Father, a very tall, loving, and querulous person. After these news were
publicized, my parents searched profusely for a nice, cheap, and comfortable home with a car that my uncle was helping my Father purchase
completely. While in the process of finding their home, my parents realized that

Grandparents' House
The car ride to my grandparents' house seemed to take half a day even though it was only a twenty–minute drive to Cedaredge. Although the back road
over Redlands Mesa was a twisty tourney road, it drug on like a boring documentary. When the car finally pulled into the driveway of the long,
white house with a neatly kept green lawn, I knew it was going to be a great day of fun, relaxation, and great food. As I walked around to the back
door, my eyes took in the beauty of the grass swaying in the wind and the weathered barn off to the left of the pasture. Inside the barn I could see all
sorts of different odds and ends hanging from the walls. When I opened the door to my grandparent's old house, a sweet, sensational...show more

We would pump our little legs as fast as we could to make our bike fly across the hot, black asphalt. These races were all out competitions between
us kids that sometimes would end up in disaster. One time, both my sisters were racing around the block and Kristy, my middle sister, went flying
over her handle bars and face planted into the road. She had blood all over her face and had to be taken to the emergency room were she found out
she had a concussion and a little road rash.
There were two different routes we would ride our bikes on at my grandparents' house. The smaller block was about a half a mile long and went in
a circle. If we wanted to take a longer route, we would take one that went back towards town and consisted of many hills and was more of a square.
This was the more fun of the two because going down the big hills made you go extremely fast, like you were driving a car with no sides on it.
Going down the hills was great, but when you had to go back up them, it was a long treacherous ride to the top. It was a leg pumping, lung burning
experience that all of us little kid love.
Inside my grandparents old house there were all kinds of things to do for entertainment. There was TV to watch, Nintendo games to play, rooms to
roughhouse in and much more. When I felt like being lazy, I would turn on the cartoon network and hope my favorite show, Scooby Doo was playing.
I would stretch out on the soft, white carpet of the living room

My Great Grandparents

  • 1. My Great Grandparents My great grandparents mean the world to me and it was very hard for me when they started to become sick. They have inspired me to be the best I can be and to never give up. They were very nice and awesome people, a lot of people looked up to them, including me. They lived in Indiana which meant I didn't get to see them a lot but when I did it was the best times of my childhood. When we would go over there, my cousins, my brother, and I would play with the stuffed animals they had and we would hang out with family. One of my favorite memories of going down to visit was going to see the campus of Notre Dame. My grandparents have created a name for the Berges family there and now since they both died, Notre Dame is one of the only places I have left of them. Without knowing my great grandparents I don't know who I would be today. My great grandpa was a very smart guy. He was the brains of our family. One thing that always makes me feel good is that my family believes that i'm taking after my grandpa with the brains because we share a lot of the same traits. For example we both love to read and we both love history very much. My great grandfather has helped to to become who I am today by being a role model for me and inspiring me to be succeed in not only academically but in life. My great grandpa has inspired a lot of people in his life and he means a lot to a lot of people and I want to someday be able to say the same thing about me. This is why I want to go to Notre Dame more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Grandparents When I was younger my family moved houses a lot. I never really had a place where I grew up as a child. We moved houses a lot i didn't really get to have my height on the walls and get to paint my room my own way. However there was one place that never really changed and that was my grandparents house. There house was like my second home I would be over there almost every evening and every weekend. It was my home away from home. I had an area where all of my clothes were so when I slept over it made it easier. I actually lived there for a small amount of time. That house held so many memories for me. I spent so many birthdays and holidays there. When i was there and my grandma was at work I would stay with my grandpa in his garage. He had...show more content... She would put enough syrup so it would spill over the edges and a cold glass of milk. She always made my pancakes just the way I liked them. They would be crispy on the edges and and soft in the center. After that we would spend the day together. Being the only grandkid at the time I Would get all of her attention so we would play and make crafts all day. One day we decided we wanted to become painters so we went out and bought a lot of colorful paint. We then went back home and set up a painting area on the side of the house. We put out white sheets on the floor and on the side of the house. When we started we were really trying. It was perfect because there was a slight breeze. You could just hear the rustling of the trees and the birds chirping. They lived in an area that was not very busy so we got quietness. We stayed like that for some time. Then my grandma dipped her paintbrush in the container. She didn 't take the excess paint off so it was dripping all over the white sheet. She then gave a smile that said she was up to something. She splattered the paint all over the canvas and the white sheet. She even got some on me. Thats when the paint war started we started to fiick our brushes at eachother. We were covered head to toe with paint. My grandpa came out of the garage to see what all the giggling was about. When he came near us my grandma and i looked at eachother and smiled. We started to flick paint to my grandpa Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Being Thankful For My Grandparents I am thankful for a lot in life, but I've just chosen three and those are my Grandparents, my family, and vacations. When someone is thankful for something, they are showing respect and gratitude towards the gift or person. "Strive to find things to be thankful for, and just look for the good in who you are!"– Bethany Hamilton. Being thankful is something I strongly try to do because I think it's a great virtue. I am so thankful for my grandma. She is always there for me, she picks me up when I fall, cheers me up when I'm down, and like all grandmas she gives me money. When I'm down, she is always right there next to me telling me jokes, giving me candy, and comforting me with hugs, kisses, and a back rub. My grandma drives me places all the time. She drives me to soccer practice, soccer games, movies, big air, anywhere that I basically want to go, have to go, or even just to have fun. My favorite place to go with her is to the movies because my grandma has the sweetest sweet tooth ever! When we are at the movies she let's us get icee's, big candy boxes, popcorn, soda, whatever we want. When we are at the movies we always movie hop too. We go from one movie to another. My grandma also gives me a lot of money. Anytime I see her, she always has some sort of gift or something. One time she found this brush for my mother and sister, but she couldn't find anything for my brother and I so she just gave us a $10 bill to make it fair. I always look forward to seeing my grandma Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Family Life Of Members From My Great Grandparents 1) The family life of members from my great–grandparents' generation is certainly very different than mine now. Most likely, they never had the opportunity to meet their own great–grandparents' or have a relationship with all of their grandparents. In contrast, my great–grandmother lived until I was three years old and I had contact with my four grandparents until one of my grandfathers passed when I was 10. Therefore, individuals of my generation are able to form close bonds with their elders and learn from their experiences, while those in the past did not get such an opportunity usually. In fact, some people my age get to live in the same house as their grandparents, resulting in more time to spend together versus the past. Next, there is currently a lesser age gap between siblings and parents are having fewer offspring, so closer bonds can be formed and more attention can be given to the children. In addition, since people on average are living significantly longer than during my great–grandparents' time, families now have to make difficult decisions regarding their elder relatives' lives that may impact relationships. Finally, extended families are becoming even larger today than during the 20th century with half–siblings, step–parents, and other "new" types of relatives. Therefore, especially after divorce, today's individuals have to decide how much contact to have with them and the type of relationship that will exist. 2) This piece entitled "The High Cost of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay About My Grandparents Everyone has someone in their life that gives them a great amount of inspiration. The people that have given me the most inspiration are my Grandparents. My Grandmother has done a great deal for me in my life. My Grandfather has done something with his life that nobody expected him to do. My Grandparents have greatly changed my life. If it was not for them, I would not be the person I am today. My Grandmother is a great person inside and out. My Grandmother has been very generous to me throughout my life. She has basically raised me from the day I was born. She shows her generosity throughout every aspect of her life. One cold day a emaciated little dog showed up at her house, now most people would have taken it to the pound...show more content... My Grandfather is a shining example of what hard work can get you. Growing up, my Grandpa had a very hard life, filled with hand–me–downs and a low food supply. Life was hard and bills were high. Education wasn't a high priority in his family, so he found no reason to go on through high school. He decided to get a job at a gas station, but after a while he thought long and hard about the direction he wanted to go with his life and that he wanted his children to have all the opportunities they wanted. That was when he and his brother came up with an idea, an idea that would morph into a thriving business. They decided to start H&H Industries in Oak hill at first a small one room building, then growing into a huge building and garage with profits soaring through the roof. Through this my Grandpa has shown me that working hard can get you anywhere you want to go in life. He has shown me how much hard work and determination mean. What it means to truly work hard for something. I look up to my Grandfather in the sense that he started from nothing and went so far. I try to live my life this way as well, working hard at school and at everything else I do in my life. My Grandfather has made a lasting influence on my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Childhood Memories of my Grandparents' Home Essay When I think back to the days when I was a child, I think about all of my wonderful childhood memories. Often I wish to go back, back to that point in life when everything seemed simpler. Sometimes I think about it too much, knowing I cannot return. Yet there is still one place I can count on to take me back to that state of mind, my grandparent's house and the land I love so much. Their house was old. My grandparents lived in it most of their adult lives. It was white with black trimming, but most of the paint was chipped away. On the back porch was firewood all year long. No matter if it was winter; spring, summer, or fall the wood was always there. Red, yellow, purple flowers grew alongside the house all spring and summer....show more content... My grandparents owned 80 acres, and I would roam each and every inch. Running through the soaring weeds, and jumping over any log that would get in my path just to end up falling to the ground out of complete exhaustion. There is something to be said about lying on one's back in an open field hour upon hour staring up at a huge blue sky. With no one around and not another house for miles, it is a great place to be alone, to listen. In that field, I could pick up all the wonderful sounds of nature commonly misplaced by all the buzz of the city. The wind spoke as it blew across the land, whistling through the tall weeds and the colossal of trees. Crickets rub their wings composing a song for everyone to hear. I soaked in all the beauty of the surrounding landscape. There was towering groves of trees, creek beds lined with wildflowers producing delightful fragrances, and sunsets that would take your breath away. Still I walked cautiously, for all of lands beauty; trouble could still take form, whether it was running into a slithering snake or stumbling across a prickly thistle. The pond was one of my favorite places, for it was where I learned how to fish and skip rocks across the water. I would sit alongside the banks and listed to the familiar sound of the bullfrogs bellowing their presents. I think if the pond could tell a story it would be of the one that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. December at My Grandparents' House Essay It stood out from all the rest in the peaceful neighborhood where my grandparent's house was. The glittering white paint that seemed to never fade, the garden where rose bushes, lilies, elephant ears, trumpet plants and hibiscus filled the earth around you with welcoming colors and the sense of warmth and love. Every awaking moment of my childhood was spent there. My grandparents house was a place of comfort and security, and yet also one of sorrow. December never fails. It is the coldest month of the entire year, every year, yet that never stopped anyone from gathering at my grandparent's house for my birthday and Christmas. During my birthdays, the air was filled with the sweet aroma of barbeque, the laughter of kids, and the choice of...show more content... In 2004, when Corpus had the first snowfall in years, our sanctuary turned into the main home for all the new snow festivities. The front yard was embellished with tiny snow–men and snow–women, snow angels, and tiny footsteps imprinted in the snow, and the sound of snowballs crashing against the jacket of another contender in the all out snow battle. Once inside the house, the smell of ham, tamales, pecan pie and homemade bread filled every angle. Presents signified the ending of the once a year holiday. December at my grandparents was a month filled with love and happiness. Sunday signified the last day to relax before school, work and babysitting within the week to come. My mom, dad, aunts and their families would all come to my grandparent's home for a barbeque lunch and Sunday football. It was a family tradition that began before grandchildren were even in the picture. It consisted of the same food each time, barbeque chicken, ribs, fajitas, rice, beans, potato salad and tea. We would gather outside around the pit listening to my grandfather telling stories of the old days or just talking about whatever was on his mind. Stories on how he built his home, worked to support his family and his goals and dreams for our future. The house was more than just a place of gathering but the dedication and hard work of a single man trying to achieve better for his family. Our Sunday gatherings lasted up until the summer of June 2001, when my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The Story Of Losing A Grandparent In My Life When you think of losing a grandparent in your life, you think of them passing away. You dread the day you will get the call that they are sick. You then begin to cherish all the moments you have with them leading up to their passing. You have time to except their sickness, and come to terms with the outcome that is to come. My PopPop is not here anymore, but do not get confused, for he is alive. I did not have warning. I did not have time to cherish him. I did not have time to say goodbye. My PopPop was on no medication, which was almost uncanny for a 75–year–old. Trying to encompass everything he was boils down to a few things that may not seem like much to someone who didn't know him. He went on a walk every night after dinner, and would whistle the same tune when he was happy. He played the same little ditty on the piano every time we were all in the living room. He was a simple man who could not harm a fly, and a good man. Unlike the grandchild warned when they are going to lose a grandparent, I did not have this notice. I did not have time to go on one last walk with him, and I did not have time to record him on the piano. I did not have time to replicate his whistling song, or to spend time with the man I knew. My PopPop was the heathiest man I knew, but then he got depression. First slowly, then all at once. The man I knew had slipped from my fingers without any chance to hold on tighter. The time he started to dissolve was right around the time I started high Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Experience With My Grandparents My entire life I have lived with or in close proximity to my grandparents. I have had countless conversations with them through my life. But the older I noticed our conversations diminishing and becoming less frequent due to my busy schedule. When this assignment was introduced to me, I jumped at the opportunity to interview and reconnect with one of my grandparents. I decided on interviewing my grandmother because she is comfortable with english and our native language, tagalog. By speaking to someone I am blood related to and grew up with, I automatically gained a sense of rapport. If I interviewed a stranger, I feel it would have been more difficult to gain their trust. Geertz explains in his article Daedalus, how him and his wife struggled to gain the acceptance of a certain group of people and of how one day they finally gained their trust. He states, "In Bali, to be teased is to be accepted. At many points during the interview my grandmother would say something like, "I've told you this many times already." Although this was true, I noticed playing the innocent and convincing her to retell me those Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Grandparents As a child, I was raised in an uppity, wealthy family. I was the child of the family failure. My Grandparents raised me. I was the child of the youngest and most enabled of the 11 kids my grandparents had. My father was a meth addict and my mother was selfish who was more concerned with her image and social life than her children. My grandmother loved me because she had children one after the other. By the time she was a master parent, all of her children had left the nest. With empty nest syndrome, she was all too happy to accept her name sake into her life and raise a little girl that was did not include an army of screaming children on top of the small infant she was handed. My grandmother never realized the amount of favoritism she displayed caused me a terrible childhood by my relatives. I was abused verbally and physically due to jealousy of her adult children and her other grandchildren just followed the example. My father, due to his drug addiction was not respected or treated as a parent. He was not allowed an opinion, at all. They began to make claims that were false, including an opinion I had mental health issues. One of my uncles had adopted a son with his previous wife and had been raising him fine until his divorce to my previous aunt due to his adultery with my current aunt. My aunt had 3 children from her previous marriage. • 11. My Grandparents House Essay Ever since I was a little girl, hearing the words "Grandma's house", would light up my eyes and bring a sparkle to my smile. The thought of being in a place where I have found comfort, joy, and pure love, brings me bittersweet emotions that I cannot define with words. My grandparents' house is my happy place, and all I wish is to savor my moments there and forever keep the memories close to my heart. I've been going to my grandparent's house since I was just a baby, and still go there very frequently today. It is almost as if new memories unfold each year there, and there is always something new to look forward to. Just last year, my grandparents got a puppy, so that unlocked an entirely new adventure in their life. We have discovered new recipes to make together, and some rooms have even been revamped. With the new things, the old will always remain. The familiar scent when I walk in, the taste of the food, the comfort of lying on the couches, and the joy of the company. These things will endure forever deep in my heart. My most vivid memories of my grandma's house were from the summers. My two brothers and I would go there each week with my four cousins, and my grandparents treated the seven of us like royalty. Nick, Michael, Chris, Brenna, Paulie, Frankie, and myself. We were one crazy bunch. Beginning with the places we would go, such as Kiddie Land, Great America, arcades, pools, and everywhere in between. Whether it be local, far away, or right at the house, the fun Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. My Grandparents And Great Grandparents Pouring rain on the lush green foliage of Southwestern Mississippi marked my birthday; born April 3, 1938, on Poplar Hill Plantation in Jefferson County, Mississippi, the eighth of thirteen children. My parents, Willie Jackson and Sarah Whitney Jackson spent their entire lives in Jefferson County, born, baptized, married in 1926, died and their final resting place, the Poplar Hill Cemetery behind the church. Family stories of the experiences during the Civil War and reconstruction, seldom talked about, the guilt of beatings, the shame of miscegenation, the humiliation of these events became the secrets to keep. Consequently, families who suffered through those ugly times, did not speak of them and did not want the children to hear those...show more content... Farming was our life, generation to generation, once a farmer always a farmer, what we knew was working in the fields of Poplar Hill, working from sun up until dark, we knew little else. In the spring, planting and then you go to school, the fall harvesting first and then school. My school was a small building of about 900 square feet, a two–room school house, with a moveable wall in the center, it divided the grades first through fourth and grades fifth through eighth. Along the outer wall, to stave off the winter chill was a wood–burning stove, collecting wood to burn a task for the younger children, the older students oversaw keeping the fire going during class time. Homespun benches, no desks, no books (from first grade through fourth grade) pencils, paper, we had none, we did have an hour for lunch (that's if you had one), and then back inside to learn. Comfort at school was not paramount, we sat on benches made of hard wood, of course a desk was out of the question. Lunch time was great, except for the students who did not have a lunch, my older siblings remembered having little or nothing for their lunches. Lunch for me was a biscuit with preserved fruit or a boiled sweet potato, maybe a hard–boiled egg, once we finished eating there was time for play, recess in the front yard of the school, if you had a ball we played catch, hide–n–seek, tag, if you had a piece of rope we jumped rope, maybe a game of tag, and we made up Get more content on HelpWriting.net

She excelled in everything because she is very strong and determined to do things. Growing up, I was always with her and watching her do things which is why I look up to her. • 15. Speech On My Grandparents House Essay A visit to my grandparents house meant two things: an endless amount of spoiling and a lesson to be learned. At their house, I had access to a drawer filled with all of my favorite candy, I turned the tree in their front yard into a secret hut that we saw as a mystical castle, and I always had my wants catered to. My grandparents never let me be bored because even a hint dullness would result in a list of activities to do. Every visit ended with a lesson that would have been learned from the expression on my grandparent's faces, shared with me through the conversations or told to me directly from a bible verse read by my grandmother. I received years of praise from both my grandma and my grandpa. However, the time I spent with the two of them did not lack lecturing. The firm expressions accompanied by a stoic finger pointing at me made me want to avoid making mistakes so I would never have to see the disappointment on their faces again. Like every other child, I made my fair share of mishaps, yet I was always forgiven for my actions. The days spent at my grandparents left me filled with stories to share and food forced upon me. The positive praises contrasted by scolds at my grandparents house shape who I am today. Once the bump of the railroad tracks bounces me out of my leather seat, I know I am close to seeing the familiar smile of two of the most important people in my life. With the final turn, I prepare myself for a day of being pampered. This mundane drive occurred Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Grandfather Essay My Grandfather– The Gift of My Life If I could be like anybody, I would wish to become more like my late grandfather, whose memories have inspired me to strive for success, like the smell of old, dusty books which reminds me of his admiration on learning. An avid collector, he had many books, most of which went unread. He owned books on everything from medicine to Spain, to several sets of encyclopedias. After he faced health problems, he came less to the library and read fewer books. They became just part of the scenery, collecting only dust and memories. I have read a few now, after he is gone, and each time it brings back a hurt like a sore that refuses to heal. But I suppose it is a quest of sorts, because if can take on his thirst...show more content... This house had two floors with three bedrooms on the top floor and the storage rooms, where some of the goats also stayed, on the ground floor. The house was built in the late 1800s before my father was born, it was my grandfather's skills in organizing family members and his strategic direction, of delegating the business operation to his several sons, according to their skills and abilities. The result is a strong group interaction that has created the foundation of our family business, which is considered one of the most successful family businesses in Yemen. However, I believe it is his independent endeavor that established his early success in business, as is evident by the roughness of his hands, a roughness resulting from the labor of his work throughout his life. At the same time, my father told me he would hold my father's hands, so gently with his rough hands when having a conversation with my father. The saddest part of my memories of grandpa was the day my father took me along with him to visit my dying grandfather, whose eyes seemed to be drifting aimlessly around the room while his body and face remained numb. I still recall staring at his tanned and wrinkled skin that covered his forearms and showed his veins in painful detail, and at the way he sometimes used his heel to scratch at his other leg. I suppose it is hard not to notice a kid who has his face turned towards you week after week, year after year. But Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My Grandparents Speech Many people only have the privilege of seeing their grandparents on birthdays and other holidays. Luckily for me, I see mine almost every week. My grandparents, specifically my mom's parents, have both played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. My grandpa, or "Pa", especially, has been more of a father to me than my own. He has held an essential role in my life, and is continually shaping me each day. My grandpa is a strong–willed and old fashioned man. He likes to do things his way. In addition, he always works hard and provides for his family. Throughout the course of my rather short life, my grandpa has taught me many lessons. Here are three stories that stick out to me the most. They taught me to be adventurous, to work hard, and to get back up after failure. The whole family was there, as my grandpa decided to make a big purchase. He was buying a 2005 Chevy SSR convertible, and five year old me was ecstatic. After a long night of waiting for all the details to be worked out, the car was his. Me, being the bratty kid I was, jumped in and said, "I get the first ride!" On my first ride, I remember the roar of the engine. "That sounds like kitties purring." I said. My grandpa laughed and said, "You are right. Those are kitties!" I exclaimed, "Well then make those kitties purr!" He laughed and revved the engine as I stuck my hands out into the wind, laughing and yelling as I did so. The fun continued as we continued to laugh and yelled, "Faster! Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My Grandparents Journey Long ago...... way before any of my older siblings were born, my parents migrated from Mexico to the United States. Once they traveled here, they experienced some difficulties. Their problems were stable, thanks to the fact that my parents had some money and they had many helpful family members that already lived before my parents. Even with the help, my parents had to find a way to adjust to their new living, and environment. Knowing they had a bright future ahead, they made the best of everything and just kept on moving forward. In the beginning of my parents journey together, they migrated here (24 years ago), as they got here they lived with my uncle for a good amount of time. This movement into their house, was only up until the time that my Father collected enough of money for both my parents to live off of. While my father was on the journey of finding a new job, we were tremendously helped by all our family members. Soon after, my Father finds a job in construction where they spoke Spanish to a standard he would understand they collected money and had no expenses. My Mother.... such a generous, nice, loving, and strict person, was expecting a bundle of joy (baby) from my Father, a very tall, loving, and querulous person. After these news were publicized, my parents searched profusely for a nice, cheap, and comfortable home with a car that my uncle was helping my Father purchase completely. While in the process of finding their home, my parents realized that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Grandparents' House Essay Grandparents' House The car ride to my grandparents' house seemed to take half a day even though it was only a twenty–minute drive to Cedaredge. Although the back road over Redlands Mesa was a twisty tourney road, it drug on like a boring documentary. When the car finally pulled into the driveway of the long, white house with a neatly kept green lawn, I knew it was going to be a great day of fun, relaxation, and great food. As I walked around to the back door, my eyes took in the beauty of the grass swaying in the wind and the weathered barn off to the left of the pasture. Inside the barn I could see all sorts of different odds and ends hanging from the walls. When I opened the door to my grandparent's old house, a sweet, sensational...show more content... We would pump our little legs as fast as we could to make our bike fly across the hot, black asphalt. These races were all out competitions between us kids that sometimes would end up in disaster. One time, both my sisters were racing around the block and Kristy, my middle sister, went flying over her handle bars and face planted into the road. She had blood all over her face and had to be taken to the emergency room were she found out she had a concussion and a little road rash. There were two different routes we would ride our bikes on at my grandparents' house. The smaller block was about a half a mile long and went in a circle. It was a leg pumping, lung burning experience that all of us little kid love. Inside my grandparents old house there were all kinds of things to do for entertainment. There was TV to watch, Nintendo games to play, rooms to roughhouse in and much more. When I felt like being lazy, I would turn on the cartoon network and hope my favorite show, Scooby Doo was playing. I would stretch out on the soft, white carpet of the living room Get more content on HelpWriting.net
