A young Native American girl named Karana
lived on an island around 1835.
She lived with her people until some hunters
killed and took them off the island in ships.
Her brother was left dead on the island,
some days later he was eaten by wild dogs.
3. She stayed alone on the island, it was her
only home.
She needed a place sheltered from the wind
and strong rains not too far.
She ended up moving to another island, and
the sea elephants made her take the decision
to stay.

washed up on the sand’s pit, most of
the bones had been taken away to
make ornaments but the ribs were still
there, and that's what Karana used to
build a fence and protect herself.

the strong fence she built, but at the same
time was afraid of wild dogs.
Suddenly they came while Karana was
cooking shellfish and perch on a flat rock,
later she ate some seeds and roots.
They tried to get in, she shot two of them
but even if animals were prowling, she was
safe, happy and had the necesary resources
to live her life
