is critical for building professionalism and
accountability . Ethical consideration are vital
in any area dealing with human being
because they represent value , right and
relationship. Nurse is obliged to provide
services even if it is in conflict with her /his
personal belief and values .
3. The term ethics which is sometimes
translated as custom’ or ‘usage’ is derived
from the Greek word ‘ethicos’ which is
related to the root ‘ethos’ a root which meant
'custom' as well as 'character'. Ethics was
understood as being concerned with the
formation and perfection of human character.
In its original sense, the 'ethics' of a group
was determined by its character and its
customs. The 'ethics' of a group forms an
'ethos‘.
4. .Eventually, the term 'ethics' came to mean
the 'science' dealing with the ideal of human
relatedness. Webster defines the word 'ethics'
as both 'the science of moral values and
duties' and as 'the study of the ideal human
character, actions, and ends'.

telling members what is right and what is wrong as a
guide to all decision making within the organization.
Codes of ethics set out general principles, often
social or moral, that guide rather than dictate
behavior.
9. CODE OF CONDUCT-Codes of conduct are
specific rules designed to outline specific
practices and behaviors that are to be
encouraged or prohibited under the ethical
code of an organization or individual. Codes
of conduct lay out guidelines and procedure
to be used to determine whether violations of
the code of ethics have occurred and
delineate the consequences for such
violations.

codes of ethics are often confused with codes
of practice. A code of practice is a document
designed to provide a clear example of what
is correct, ethical or right behavior in any
circumstances. A code of practice generally
implies that violation of these codes of
practice can result in disbarment or expulsion
from the organization
