I’m qualified to HND level in Electrical & Electronic Engineeringand whilstthis qualification isn’tin ICTi t is very closely related,
especially with regards to Electronics which is where I excelled.Although I’m not currently ITIL qualified I ammore than aware
and very familiar with the principles behind ITIL.I don’t currently possess any relevanttechnical qualification butI have
completed many ICT related courses includingseveral Microsoftcourses such as Troubleshootingand SupportingWindows 7 in
the Enterprise, Supporting Windows Vista Desktop, Planning,Implementing and Maintaininga MS Windows Server 2003 Active
Directory Infrastructure,Implementing & Supporting MicrosoftWindows XP,to name but a few. I’ve also completed the ILM
Accelerate - Steps to Leadership courseto add to my Level 2 ILM Introductory Certificatein Team Leading and Level 2 NVQ in
Customer Service.
Knowledge and Experience
Ever sincegraduatingfromUniversity in 1992 I’ve been employed in ICT and this has been in a customer support rolesince
January 1994 when I started as a Computer Technician with Handsworth College, Birmingham supportingaround 600 Desktops
across seven campuses.In July 1997 I left this roleto take up a position as a Regional Field ServiceEngineer joininga team of 3
other Engineers coveringthe whole of the UK. I provided both hardware& software supportfor over 120 sites in my area and
continued this roleuntil 2001.In July 2001 I joined StaffordshireCounty Council as a Computer Services Assistant with the
Cultural & Corporate Joint IT Unit (JITU), which shortly after changed to the Cultural & Property Services JITU. This unitwa s
mainly responsiblefor providingITsupportto Libraries,Arts & Museums, Property & Estates and Elected Members to name a
few. When this unit was disbanded,I moved to the Education JITU and then came together with all theJITU’s to form what is
now Desktop Support as Senior ICT Support Officer, providinga 2nd linesupportto all county council offices across Staffordshire,
back in 2004. Routinely performing diagnostics,problemsolvingmorein depth technical issues occurringwith both hardware
and software escalated to our team alongwith software upgrades and installations.
My career so far has given me over 22 years of experience working in ICT and 20 of these years have been in a technical support
environment. This has given me very in-depth knowledge in ICT support and given me a good solid understandingof technical
infrastructureand architecture.Throughout my career in ICT I have gained great diagnostic and problemsolvingskillsand a
wealth of experience of dealingwith customers, suppliersand 3rd parties.I’velearnt over the years that this role is more about
good communication skillsrather than out & out technical ability.As ICT is currently evolvingin terms of technology I’m very
experienced at managingtechnical changeon a daily basis.I do also havesome projectmanagement experience havingbeen
involved in several projects over the lastfew years with the lastbeinga Desktop Refresh Projects of 8000+ clients consistingof
Desktop PC’s, Laptops & Thin Clients whilstmigratingto Windows 7 from Windows XP.
Skills/Abilities
I have excellent customer careskillsand I’mvery customer focussed,always understandingnotonly the needs of the customer
but the needs of the business too. One of my best strengths is being ableto communicate effectively both verbally and written,
explainingtechnical issues withoutover complicatingor usingexcessivetechnical jargon.I havea very good level of fitness,
liftingand carryingcomputer equipment on a regular basis withoutany issues.I’malso trained in manual handlingtechniques
and in DSE Assessments. I have a very professional approach to everything I do and always committed to deliveringservices to
agreed levels whilststrivingto be the best I can be. I’m very resourceful,motivated and used to workingon my own initiative
whilstmanagingmy own workloads effectively with littleor no supervi sion.I’ma confident and intelligentindividual with first
class organisational and problemsolvingskills and havea positiveattitudetowards a customer focussed environment. I’m mor e
than ableto travel abroad for extended periods of time where required, holdinga valid UK Passport. I’m also very flexibleand
willingwhen it comes to working extra hours and will alwaysgo the extra mile to meet deadlines and servicedemands with a
can do attitude.
I have extensive knowledge of ICT, a professional attitudeand fantastic organisational skillsas well asthe wealth of experience
and knowledge I can bring to any team. I’m ableto achievequality results whilsthittingthe required targets and have a strong
set of trouble shooting skills.I’mvery motivated, whilsthavingthe ability to motivate others and able to work effectively as part
of a team for the common goal and would look forward any opportunity to further develop myself & my skillsin IT
