Personal Profile I just recently finished an internship from my current sandwich degree and during this time I was given the amazing opportunity to work as an IT Support Analyst at Sports Direct. The experience I gained during this time was invaluable, not only did it cement a lot of theory from my studies into real skills but it also gave me exposure to a vast array of systems which I had full access to. I was allowed to look into new areas of IT that I had never even thought about previously, as well as being given project work to enhance my networking skills. I have since extended my contract to work part time while I finish my degree.

Work Experience
(2013 – Present - Sports Direct, 1st, 2nd & 3rd line IT Support) Support for all systems across the company, due to the unique way the department is structured I am encouraged to take on projects and issues and seeing them through to the end, learning from them along the way. Every day is different and brings new challenges; I am expected to support a very broad scope of systems across 1000+ Stores, Head Offices and Warehouses which has allowed me to constantly improve.
(2010 - EXL LTD, Trainee Sound and light engineer) I aided technicians with fitting and removing LCD televisions from bars, clubs and restaurants, wiring up sound systems, installing and renovating lighting effects as well as full tech installs in new or renovated buildings which included all cabling as well as equipment.
(2007 - Diverse Entertainment Solutions, Apprentice Disc Jockey) I had to help set up the discos, take requests, and fix equipment as such I feel that interacting with a variety of people whilst fulfilling these responsibilities has made me more confident and helped me gain communication skills.

Key Skills
Team Work – I feel I am a good team leader, during my time at university I have been involved in various group tasks and projects and have been surprised at how often I have taken the lead and naturally organised my team members. I feel I am patient and understanding with the ability to adapt according to members strengths as well as weaknesses. In projects I have delegated tasks to each member of the team which I feel has allowed projects to be completed more smoothly and efficiently.
IT skills – I am confident and proficient in standard software packages including Microsoft Office having created many reports, letters and presentations throughout college and my current degree at university. I have also had some experience with the Adobe Creative suites as well as UML software packages and can generally pick up new software quickly and easily. I have also had experience with SQL, Oracle, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Java, Citrix Management, BigIP F5, AppV, Active Directory, Vsphere and HyperV as well as Cisco Hardware and Software.
Hard Working – Throughout my education at college and university I have worked hard to learn as much as possible in the subject areas I chose, I feel that the grades that I received from college and my first year of university really show this, and hopefully so will the results from the following years in my degree. I always try to motivate myself and promote self-learning whilst away from university so that I get the most out of my time at Sheffield Hallam.
Interests and Activities
During the BTEC National Diploma in software development I looked at various aspects of Computer Science, containing subjects such as programming, computer architecture, design work, and in particular Computer hardware and Networking, which I thoroughly enjoyed, it was at this time I realised that I was going to pursue a career in Computer Networking.
I have a keen interest in computer hardware technology and pride myself in upgrading and maintaining my own personal computer which I built myself to custom specifications. I find computer hardware fascinating and often help repair computer hardware for friends and family.
I have travelled to many parts of America and other countries and I feel that this has enabled me to experience a great deal; I think this has helped develop my communication skills as well as confidence and it has also allowed me to meet a variety of different people from different social groups, religions and cultures.
I attended Kickboxing/Muay Thai clubs, and entered tournaments from the age of 10 up until I came up to university which I feel had a big positive impact on my confidence, as well as discipline. I feel that this shows dedication and passion for something I am interested in. I decided to take up weight training shortly after starting University, I take great pleasure in seeing myself improve and can honestly say bodybuilding is something I will continue for the rest of my life. I believe again this is teaching me discipline as well as giving me confidence as I learn and improve.
