3. French Mathematician and philosopher.
Father of modern Philosophy.
Due to his contribution western philosophy
and Mathematics was flourished.
Father of Analytical Geometry
Descarte believed all experience is
organized according to laws that are
Mathematical.
4. Born March 31, 1596 at La Haye, France.
Father Joachim
Mother Jeanne Brochard Descartes
In 1606, at 8 years old went to college of
Jesuit of La Fleche in Anjou.
In 1616, received law degree from Poiters
then went to military school.
5. In 1618, started studying Mathematics and
mechanic and began to seek unified science
of nature.
1618-1628 travelled through Europe
as a soldier.
He sought out famous Mathematicians,
Scientists and Philosophers where ever he
travelled.
6. Most significant friendship was with Issac
Beeckman (Dutch Mathematician) who
encouraged Descartes to begin writing
scientific theories on Mathematics and
Music.
To focus better on his work, Descartes
moved to Holland, where he lived peacefully
for next twenty years
7. 1649 moved to Sweden.
Died February 11, 1650 in Sweden at the age
of 53.
8. One of the important Mathematicians.
Made lots of very important studied in
Mathematics, both in Algebra and Geometry.
Descartes did not make lots of very important
in Algebra, but surely the most important one
is Rule of the signs called Cartesian
9. Rene Descartes generally regarded as the
father of Analytical Geometry. His name in
Latin is Renatius Cartesius…so we can see
that our terminology Cartesian plane and
Cartesian coordinate system is derived from
his name!.....
10. His major contribution lies in bringing fourth
coordinate system.
Cartesian coordinate system tended to
explain the algebraic equation through
geometrical shapes.
He invented the convention of representing
unknowns in equation by x, y and z.
