*This concept was developed for Disney studios, used in
1954 film version 20,000 leagues under the sea.
*Animatronics is a cross between animation and
electronics. Basically, an animatronics is a mechanized
puppet.
*This abbreviated term was originally coined by Walt
Disney as “Audio-Animatronics” which was further known
as “Animatronics”.
*

*Animatronics is a combination of animation and
electronics.
*It may be preprogrammed or remotely controlled.
*The animatronic may only perform a limited range of
movements or it may be incredibly versatile.
*Later animatronics was used together with digital effects.
*
*Electronics is used in doing programming of these
animated creatures.
*It is done by controlling the voltage regulation.
*It is also done by embedded microcontroller like
Arduino.
*
*There were two basic ways of programming a
figure:
Voltage regulation method
Control harness method
*
*In this two devices were used first was a
joystick like device called transducer and the
other device was potentiometer.
*In this method each individual actions which
have to be performed were refined, rehearsed
and then recorded.
*
*This method was hooked up so that it would
control the voltage regulation relative to the
movement of the harness.
*This method has the profit that it can do
multiple actions at once.
*

*Step 2: Sculpting
*Step 3: Mold Making
*Step 4: Armature Fabrication
*Step 5: Costuming
*Step 6:Programming
*
*Client and the company developing the
animatronics decide what the character will be, its
appearance and total number of moves, quality of
moves etc.
*
*Converting two dimensional ideas into three-
dimensional forms.
*This team can work from photos, artwork, videos,
models and similar likenesses.
*
*This department creates the molds that will
ultimately produce the character skins.
*After the mold is finished and cured, it is ready for
skin making. Fiberglass shells are simultaneously
used to form the body.
*
*Each individual part requires a
custom design and fabrication.
*Each of the robot’s movement
axis point must have an industrial
rated bearing to provide action
and long life.
*
*The outfit has to allow for easy access to the
character’s operating mechanisms. It must also look
normal after movement has taken place.
*It must be designed to provide thousands of
operations and movements.
*
*Programming is the final step, and for some
animations it is the most rewarding. Programming
can be done either at the manufacturing facility or
at the final installation site. Programming brings
“life”.
*Analog programming.
*New “analog system” involved the use of voltage
regulation.
*For example: Jurassic Park
*
*In the animatronics kit there is software given. So
install the software and get ready to start. No
programming skills required. If you can use Windows
you can use this Animatronics kit.
*Mini SSC Panel v1.2 software is a windows based
computer program that allows you to explore the
exciting world of animatronics.
*
*The advantages of animatronics has over digital
effects in some movies.
*Another use of animatronics is in theme parks.
*
*One of the disadvantage of animatronics is that
the robots designed in this are not intelligent,
they are only designed for entertainment purpose.
*It’s all motions have to be taken care all the time
and to be controlled. It doesn’t work by its own.
*
*Used in entertainment area.
*Used in creating special effects in movies.
*Used in Disneyland.
*
*Animatronics has now developed as a career which
may require combined talent in-

  • 3. * *This concept was developed for Disney studios, used in 1954 film version 20,000 leagues under the sea. *Animatronics is a cross between animation and electronics. Basically, an animatronics is a mechanized puppet. *This abbreviated term was originally coined by Walt Disney as “Audio-Animatronics” which was further known as “Animatronics”.

  • 5. * *Animatronics is a combination of animation and electronics. *It may be preprogrammed or remotely controlled. *The animatronic may only perform a limited range of movements or it may be incredibly versatile. *Later animatronics was used together with digital effects.
