2. What is Civil Engineering Drawing?
A civil drawing, or site drawing, is
a type of technical drawing that
shows information about grading,
landscaping, or other site details.
These drawings are intended to
give a clear picture of all things in
a construction site to a civil engineer.
Civil drafters prepare drawings and
topographical and relief maps used in
major construction or civil engineering
projects, such as highways, bridges,
pipelines, flood control projects, and water and
sewage systems

6. Site plan
A site plan is a top view, bird’s eye view of a
property that is drawn to scale.
A site plan can show
Property lines
Outline of existing and proposed
buildings and structures
Distance between buildings
Distance between buildings and
property lines (setbacks)
Parking lots, indicating parking spaces
Driveways & acces
Surrounding streets & widths
Landscaped areas
Easements
Ground sign location
Utilities

11. 1). Proposal Drawing or Perspective Sketching
A. Architecture collects data and requirements of building such as fundsavailable, plot size, use of
the building, number of stories desired, northdirection, plot level, required room size etc.
B. Number of proposals are made keeping in mind the by laws of controlling authorities.
C. For proposal, plans and elevations are drawn on a very small scale like1/8 or 1/16 while the
section is usually not needed.
D. To impress the client, plans and elevations are made by coloring and if needed perspectives are
also prepared.
E. Proposals are then discussed with client and changes are madeaccording to his wishes.
F. If client rejects the proposal altogether, new proposal are to be made

12. 2). Submission Drawing
A). These are legal documents used to approve the plan from controlling
authorities like LDA, DHA etc
B). Plans (of all stories), an elevation and section is drawn in this drawing.
C). Plans are commonly drawn on1/8 scale. Since the section in this drawing
give important heights so it also drawn at1/8scale.
D). Site plan is usually required for plot greater in size than 10 marlas. It is
plotted at a scale of 1/16 to 1/32
• Site Plan:
• It shows block of actual building or the constructed portion as compared to
the total plot area.

13. 3). Working Drawing
These are one using which construction at site is carried out
accordingto design.
•Examples of working drawings are
• A) Architectural working drawings
•B) Structural working drawings
•i) Foundation Plan
•ii) Reinforcement Details
•iii) Plumbing works
•iv) Details of doors and windows
• v) Bathroom and kitchen details
• vi) Electrification plans
• Plumbing means water supply and its disposal inside
the building
S.H THAKUR 13
14. 4). Completion Drawing/As-Built Drawing
• After construction of building, drawings are made
according to heactually constructed features called
completion or as-built drawing.
•These drawings are then submitted to the authorities to
get thecompletion certificate and only after their approval
the owner canlegally occupy the building.
