5. Connotations
The title suggests that:
ο It is a foreign name
ο Short, sweet, simple and has a lot of power
ο Makes you think what the translation of the
title means in English
ο Itβs music (possibly classical or Indie)
ο Sounds very mysterious, so the magazine
could be very mysterious and something you
donβt expect.
7. Reason for Final Choice
Final title choice:
ο
RAGA
I chose to use the title
βRAGAβ as I believed
that it was very
unique and would
make the audience
think about what the
term meant. A raga is
an Indian scale in
music and as my
music magazine is
based on classical
Indian music, I
thought to name it
after a scale. This is
the reason for my title
choice.
Final font style:
β’
Gungsuh - RAGA
I chose to use this font
style as I could visually
picture my title being
in that front style. This
font style is simple but
has an edge to it
which was just what I
was looking for when I
wanted to find a font
style for the title of my
magazine. Itβs plain
but still has that eye
catching look to it.
Final colour:
β’
RAGA
I chose this font
colour as it isnβt to
bright or isnβt to dark,
itβs just the right
colour because it
stands out has that
relaxing and
calming effect when
you look at it. It is
also just the colour I
was looking for
because it fits the
colour scheme I
wanted to use for
my Classical music
magazine perfectly.
8. House Style Plan
I plan to keep consistency in my colours i.e.
having 3-4 main colours that my magazine will
be revolved around. Those colours are: black,
gold, white/cream and grey. This is the colour
scheme I plan to use in my magazine and I will
keep these 3-4 colours going consistently
throughout the whole magazine. I also plan to
stick to 3-4 font sizes for the magazine i.e. one for
the title, headings, subheadings and text
followed by different font styles for these font
sizes.
9. Front Cover Plan
ο
ο
ο
ο
ο
On the front cover I am going to have an image of an artist or
artists playing an Indian Classical Music instrument for e.g. the
dhol. I am going to frame this in a medium shot. For every issue
there will be a different artist on the front that will or will not have
an Indian Classical music instrument with them.
I will then have subheadings around the main image which will
give an overall view of the topics that are included in this
magazine
I will have the barcode and date of the magazine issue release
near the bottom on the front cover.
There will be a mast head along the top of the magazine and a
footer along the bottom of the magazine front cover with
additional information on the magazine.
I will have 3-4 different font styles on the front cover which will be:
Monotype Corsiva , Gungsuh, Franklin Gothic Medium and Lucida
Calligraphy.
10. Ideas for Straplines, text
language, size etc.
ο
ο
ο
ο
ο
My ideas for the font sizes I am going to include in
my magazine are for the title use a font size from
about 50+.
Then for my headings use a font size from 30-40.
For my subheadings, use a font size that ranges
from about 25-40
The text use a font size that ranges from roughly
from 10-25.
I am going to include a pull quote in the magazine
as it will grab the attention of more audiences.
11. Content Plan
ο
ο
ο
ο
ο
ο
ο
The content I will include in my magazine will be an article about
an Indian Classical Music artist, how did they rise to fame and
there opinions on classical music and how it makes it unique from
other genres of music.
I will use a big image along side the article that will be inside my
magazine. The image will be eye catching and will take up one
page of the A4.
The contents page will state all the information that will be in the
magazine and what page numbers they are on and where you
can find them in the magazine.
There will be a lot of images in the magazine at different sizes for
different things.
There will be a few more articles and interviews of other classical
music artists with images by them.
There will subheadings and headings for the variety of different
topics in the magazine
The front cover will include everything that will be in the
magazine and what it will be about.
12. Editorial
Indian Classical β A genre that most people donβt know much
about because there isnβt enough knowledge out there about
it but now you can find out all about. Indian Classical music
refers to the art of music of the Indian subcontinent. This genre
is both elaborate and very expressive. Indian Classical music is
divides the octave into 12 semitones, 7 of which are the basic
notes which are Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa. An Indian
Classical music performance is based on a raga melodically
on particular ragas and rhythmically on. Because of the focus
on exploring the raga, performances have traditionally been
solo endeavours, but duets are gaining in popularity.
