ABSTRACT
My seminar is on HAVELLS-(HARRIDWAR). In this project, in this all the steps and
process done for the manufacturing of fan is presented. Havells India Ltd is one of the
largest [3]
electrical equipment companies in India. Founded in 1983, the company has
products ranging from home and kitchen appliances, lighting for domestic, commercial and
industrial applications, LED lighting, fans, modular switches and wiring accessories, water
heaters, industrial and domestic circuit protection switchgear, industrial and domestic cables
and wires, induction motors, and capacitors among others.
Havells India owns some of the most prestigious Indian brands like Havells, LLoyd,
Crabtree, Standard Electric, and Promptest. The company has 23 branches / representative
offices with over 6,000 professionals in over 50 countries.As of 2016, it has 11
manufacturing plants in Indialocated
at Haridwar, Baddi, Noida, Faridabad, Alwar, Neemrana,and Bengaluru.In 2014, Havells was
listed 125th among 1200 of India's most trusted brands according to the Brand Trust
Report 2014, a study conducted by Trust Research Advisory.

CHAPTER 1
1.1 OBJECTIVE OF THE WORK
As a manufacturing-oriented organization that works on the principle of 'Make in India', we
do not focus on productivity alone. We work towards creating harmony between
manufacturing output and efficiencies that deliver social, economic and environmental
sustainability.
They have adopted world-class technology and automation to ensure that they produce our
goods efficiently with emphasis on conservation of energy and water in a sustainable manner.
We pursue methodology of Total Quality Managment to improve product quality and recycle
and reuse our waste materials.
They lay great emphasis on employee safety and accord it utmost priority. We have created
and sustain a work culture that is inspired by the Japanese Kaizen methodology.
Each plant works towards energy and process efficiency along with being socially
responsible towards the resources of the village or town it is housed in.

Standard and Promptec. Its network constitutes of 4000 professionals, over 7575 dealers and
40 branches in the country. Our products are available in 40 countries. The company has 12
state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in India located at Haridwar, Baddi, Sahibabad,
Faridabad, Assam, Alwar and Neemrana, manufacturing globally acclaimed products,
synonymous with excellence and precision in the electrical industry. Havells along with its
brands, have earned the distinction of being the preferred choice of electrical products for
discerning individuals and industrial consumers both in India and abroad. Havells offers same
quality products for both Indian and International markets. It is committed to keep powering
the world with its state-of-the-art innovations and energy-efficient solutions. Currently over
90% of its product offerings are energy efficient and manufactured in-house.
Contributing as a socially aware corporate citizen
Social and environmental responsibility has been at the forefront of Havells Operating
Philosophy and as a result the company consistently contributes to socially responsible
activities. For instance, the company is providing mid-day meal in government schools in
Alwar district, covering more than 57000 students per day. The group company, QRG
Healthcare runs a 140 bed hospital in Faridabad. In the past, the company has generously
contributed to the society during various national calamities like the Bihar Flood, Tsunami
and Kargil National Relief Fund, etc.

In 1958 Qimat Rai Gupta dropped out of school and founded an Electric trading operation in
the electric wholesale market of Old Delhi. With an investment of Rs.10000, he started
Havell's Industries.[8] In 1971 Gupta Bought HAVELLS Brand from Haveli Ram Gandhi,
and in next five years he started the first manufacturing Plant at Tilak Nagar, New Delhi of
the Rewireable Switches and Changeover Switches in his Kirti Nagar Plant, near New Delhi.
In next few years Havells started to Set up a manufacturing of the Energy Meters. later, it
Acquired Towers and Transformers Ltd. and turned it into a profitably manufacturing Energy
Meters Company in just one year.[citation needed] Later, the Company entered MCBs
manufacturing at Badli, Delhi in a Joint Venture with Geyer, Germany. In 1974 company
started manufacturing of the Changeover Switches plant at Sahibabad, UP for. In 1980 they
started manufacturing Control Gear Products at their Faridabad, Haryana plants. Later in 80's
they Acquired a manufacturing plant at Alwar, Rajasthan for Power Cables & Wires.In that
same year they Entered into a Joint Venture with Electrium, UK for manufacturing Dorman
Smith MCCB and Crabtree Modular Plate Switches. Acquired an Electric Control &
Switchboards at Noida for manufacturing customised packaged solutions. Introduced high-

end Ferraris Meters in Joint Venture with DZG, Germany. Acquired controlling stake in
Duke Arnics Electronics (P) Limited engaged in manufacturing of Electronic Meters-Single
Phase, Three Phase, Multi Function, Tri-Vectors and also acquired controlling interest in an
industry major-Standard Electricals Ltd and also an Acquired business of Havells Industries.

2.1FOUNDER CHAIRMAN
Founder Chairman & Managing Director, Havells India Ltd.
Late Sh. Qimat Rai Gupta
Born to a lower middle-class family in the year 1937 in then undivided Punjab, Late Shri
Qimat Rai Gupta’s upbringing was shaped by Indian quintessence and the teachings of the
Bhagwad Gita.
His career in business began in 1958 with the setting up of a quaint little electrical goods
shop at the electrical market of Bhagirath Palace in Delhi. He invested capital into creating
world-class manufacturing plants around India. The purchase of a small electrical good
company in 1971 saw a turn of events that led to its creation, pioneering various trends in the
FMCG industry. He also helped the Indian electrical goods manufacturing achieve global
standards. Today, with a workforce of 6,500 employees and 20,000+ trade partners, with
operations spanning across 50 different countries, Havells as a company now stands at a net
worth of USD 1.4 billion.

His partnership with a 20,000 strong network of dealers, distributors, and retailers has
propelled Havells’ profits while also benefiting its stakeholders. Each person’s association
with him brought benefit to their lives.
Company Social Responsibility was never left in the dark with QRG. Havells’ investment in
staff and transport infrastructure has improved their workers’ standard of living by manifolds
while their setting up and maintaining of a central kitchen has fed nutritious, wholesome and
hygienic mid-day meals to over 50,000 school going children each day, covering 666
government schools in the Alwar district of RajasthaN
2.2 CHAIRMAN & MANAGING DIRECTOR
Anil Rai Gupta
Heading one of the most prominent electrical and consumer durable companies in India, Shri
Anil Rai Gupta is the Chairman and Managing Director of Havells, and is the son of Late
Shri Qimat Rai Gupta. He has been a constant support to his father for 22 years, supporting
him in all his endeavors until in 2014 when the duties and responsibilities were passed on to
him. Mr. Gupta has catered to the company’s needs since 2006 and has also served as the
Executive Director to the company since 1992 itself.

Being a member of the Shri Ram College of Commerce alumni committee, in New Delhi,
Mr. Gupta has pursued his higher studies from the Wake Forest University in North Carolina,
USA. He holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance. His marketing strategies proved to be
highly fundamental for transforming Havells from a family brand to a globally recognized
electricals and consumer durable company.
2003 marked the year for Havells’ success as Mr. Anil Rai Gupta led the company to
diversify from being a sole industrial product. Havells has an unmatched marketing
distribution in today’s day and age and has henceforth, strengthened its leadership in the
market. Like his father who believed in giving back to the society, Mr. Anil Rai Gupta,
blessed by his late father started the mid-day meal program through the QRG Foundation.
Mr. Anil Rail Gupta, hence, puts forward his belief in bringing out leaders that would serve
the country through liberal arts. He is also one of the founding members of one of the first
liberal Arts universities in India, the Ashoka University. His goal of securing the economic
and societal goals of Havells has stemmed deeply through his own learning and beliefs, as he
strives to make the company achieve greater depths in the coming years.
2.3GLOBAL PRESENCE
In late 90's Standard Electrical Company became a 100% Subsidiary of the company. The
company gained IEC certification for industrial switchgear and CSA certification for all
manufacturing plants in 1991.[citation needed]
Soon production started in their plant located
at Baddi (H.P.) for manufacturing domestic switchgear. Setting up a manufacturing plant for
manufacturing of ceiling fans at Noida, UP. In 1999 Havell's opened their first international
sales office in London through their wholly owned subsidiary company Havells U.K. Ltd. In
December 2004, placed 235 fully convertible debentures of Rs.1 million on M/s. Shine Ltd.,
Mauritius and the debenture were converted in June 2006 Attained the CE certificate for
CFLs. In March,2005 Havells Started the manufacturing of the Electric Fans at its plant
located near Haridwar, Uttarakhand and got an Award for the KEMA certification by The
Dutch Council for Accreditation, making QRG the only group to attain this certification in
India.[citation needed]
The company started their first R&D Center in Noida. In November, 2005
Crabtree India merged with Havells India. adding a CFL production unit in Haridwar
manufacturing plant. Expansion at Alwar manufacturing plant for increase of production
capacity and another expansion at the Baddi manufacturing plant and set-up of an Export

Oriented Unit started in that same year. In 2006 it became one of the India's first Company to
get the ISI mark Certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards for complete range of
CFLs.The company is setting up new fully automatic water heater manufacturing plant in
Neemrana, Rajasthan under the leadership of Mr, Sunil Sikka, Mr. Akhilesh Mittal and team.
Currently CEO of Havells is Anil Rai Gupta.

3.1EXPANSION ERA
In 2007 Havells' creation of a capacitor manufacturing plant in Noida, UP with the capacity
of 6,00,000 KVAr per month was completed. Later it acquired the lighting business of
a Frankfurt based company Sylvania, a global leader in the lighting business and now for the
first time in its history the company's turnover exceeded US$1 billion. By 2007 Havell's were
well known for its electrical switches, energy meters and miniature circuit breakers (MCBs).
In March 2007, Havells acquired SLI Sylvania of Netherlands for $300 million, making it the
fourth largest lighting business in the world, worth over a billion USD[citation needed]
This was, at
that time, the biggest overseas takeover by an Indian electrical equipment manufacturer. This
takeover helped to give the Havells brand access to over 20,000 dealers across Latin
America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The combined Havells-Sylvania generated over a $1
billion in revenue with more than 60% coming from international sales. Due to past mergers
Havells’ portfolio includes many well-known brands like the[citation needed]
Crabtree, Sylvania,
Concord, Luminance, Linolite & SLI Lighting. In 2008 it became one of the first Indian CFL
manufacturers to have adopted RoHS, European norms on restriction of hazardous substances
in CFLs. In October 2008 Havell's moved to its new corporate headquarters, QRG Towers
located at Expressway Noida. With an investment of Rs.500 million in Global Center for
Research and Innovation (CRI) construction of a fully automatic plant for Havells Lafert
Motors at Neemrana also started in that same year. In, 2010 it acquired 100% interest in
Standard Electricals to set up the world's first new generation CMH lamp plant at Neemrana.
In 2012, Indian actor Rajesh Khannaendorsed Havells Fan TVC titled Havells Fans Forever.
Later in that same year Havells India expressed its plans to expand its presence in Turkey,
Russia, Indonesia and Malaysia and is in the process of acquiring various companies in China
and Africa.
In September 2013 Havells have launched the domestic pumps for Indian market. Initially
company plans to launch the monoblock pumps and expand the product range gradually.
Monoblock pumps of Havells are being manufactured at Neemrana Motor factory using the
production capacity of the unit. [9]

cables are manufactured on most modern laser controlled automaticmachines, using best raw
material from primary manufacturers ensuring perfect quality.

In this project, in this all the steps and process done for the manufacturing of fan is presented. Havells India Ltd is one of the largest [3] electrical equipment companies in India. Founded in 1983, the company has products ranging from home and kitchen appliances, lighting for domestic, commercial and industrial applications, LED lighting, fans, modular switches and wiring accessories, water heaters, industrial and domestic circuit protection switchgear, industrial and domestic cables and wires, induction motors, and capacitors among others. Havells India owns some of the most prestigious Indian brands like Havells, LLoyd, Crabtree, Standard Electric, and Promptest. The company has 23 branches / representative offices with over 6,000 professionals in over 50 countries.As of 2016, it has 11 manufacturing plants in Indialocated at Haridwar, Baddi, Noida, Faridabad, Alwar, Neemrana,and Bengaluru.In 2014, Havells was listed 125th among 1200 of India's most trusted brands according to the Brand Trust Report 2014, a study conducted by Trust Research Advisory.

Qimat Rai Gupta Born to a lower middle-class family in the year 1937 in then undivided Punjab, Late Shri Qimat Rai Gupta’s upbringing was shaped by Indian quintessence and the teachings of the Bhagwad Gita. His career in business began in 1958 with the setting up of a quaint little electrical goods shop at the electrical market of Bhagirath Palace in Delhi. He invested capital into creating world-class manufacturing plants around India. The purchase of a small electrical good company in 1971 saw a turn of events that led to its creation, pioneering various trends in the FMCG industry. He has been a constant support to his father for 22 years, supporting him in all his endeavors until in 2014 when the duties and responsibilities were passed on to him. His marketing strategies proved to be highly fundamental for transforming Havells from a family brand to a globally recognized electricals and consumer durable company. 2003 marked the year for Havells’ success as Mr. Anil Rai Gupta led the company to diversify from being a sole industrial product. Havells has an unmatched marketing distribution in today’s day and age and has henceforth, strengthened its leadership in the market. Like his father who believed in giving back to the society, Mr. Anil Rai Gupta, blessed by his late father started the mid-day meal program through the QRG Foundation. Mr. Anil Rail Gupta, hence, puts forward his belief in bringing out leaders that would serve the country through liberal arts. He is also one of the founding members of one of the first liberal Arts universities in India, the Ashoka University. His goal of securing the economic and societal goals of Havells has stemmed deeply through his own learning and beliefs, as he strives to make the company achieve greater depths in the coming years. 2.3GLOBAL PRESENCE In late 90's Standard Electrical Company became a 100% Subsidiary of the company. The company gained IEC certification for industrial switchgear and CSA certification for all manufacturing plants in 1991.[citation needed] Soon production started in their plant located at Baddi (H.P.) for manufacturing domestic switchgear. Setting up a manufacturing plant for manufacturing of ceiling fans at Noida, UP. In 1999 Havell's opened their first international sales office in London through their wholly owned subsidiary company Havells U.K. Ltd. SHAMBHUNATH INSTITUE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY Page 9 Chapter 3 3.1EXPANSION ERA In 2007 Havells' creation of a capacitor manufacturing plant in Noida, UP with the capacity of 6,00,000 KVAr per month was completed. Later it acquired the lighting business of a Frankfurt based company Sylvania, a global leader in the lighting business and now for the first time in its history the company's turnover exceeded US$1 billion. By 2007 Havell's were well known for its electrical switches, energy meters and miniature circuit breakers (MCBs). In March 2007, Havells acquired SLI Sylvania of Netherlands for $300 million, making it the fourth largest lighting business in the world, worth over a billion USD[citation needed] This was, at that time, the biggest overseas takeover by an Indian electrical equipment manufacturer. This takeover helped to give the Havells brand access to over 20,000 dealers across Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The combined Havells-Sylvania generated over a $1 billion in revenue with more than 60% coming from international sales. Due to past mergers Havells’ portfolio includes many well-known brands like the[citation needed] Crabtree, Sylvania, Concord, Luminance, Linolite & SLI Lighting. In 2008 it became one of the first Indian CFL manufacturers to have adopted RoHS, European norms on restriction of hazardous substances in CFLs. In October 2008 Havell's moved to its new corporate headquarters, QRG Towers located at Expressway Noida. With an investment of Rs.500 million in Global Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) construction of a fully automatic plant for Havells Lafert Motors at Neemrana also started in that same year. In, 2010 it acquired 100% interest in Standard Electricals to set up the world's first new generation CMH lamp plant at Neemrana. In 2012, Indian actor Rajesh Khannaendorsed Havells Fan TVC titled Havells Fans Forever. Later in that same year Havells India expressed its plans to expand its presence in Turkey, Russia, Indonesia and Malaysia and is in the process of acquiring various companies in China and Africa. In September 2013 Havells have launched the domestic pumps for Indian market. Initially company plans to launch the monoblock pumps and expand the product range gradually. Monoblock pumps of Havells are being manufactured at Neemrana Motor factory using the production capacity of the unit. [9]
