The author would like to introduce a form of remote interpreting: recorded remote simultaneous interpreting (Recorded RSI). In short, Recorded RSI is a form of interpreting service in which the interpreter receives a video from a client and then uses a video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro) to add a simultaneous interpreting voice track and submit the edited video.

2. With greater numbers of people working from
home, internet use is surging. There would be
greater demand for hosting webinars, and
interpreting services would likely be provided
remotely as well using online services.
3. However, there is an issue of slow internet
connection and reliability when it comes to
remote simultaneous interpretation or RSI. Here,
the author would like to suggest a more stable
and reliable form of digital interpreting: recorded
remote simultaneous interpreting (Recorded RSI).
Recorded RSI is a new form of interpreting that
the author has been experimenting with for a
while. In short, Recorded RSI is a form of
interpreting service in which the interpreter
receives a video from a client and then uses a
video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere
Pro) to add a simultaneous interpreting voice
track and submit the edited video.

In Recorded RSI, the video should first be sent from the client to the interpreter
in a data format such as mp4 for convenience.

Next, the interpreter will interpret for the video and record using software such as

8. Recommended: Adobe Premiere Pro
Reasons:
• It is reliable
• It is for Professional Use (can be used for work)
• It is easy to use
• It can record your simultaneous interpreting smoothly
• Rendering or creating the video is quite fast
• It is easy to find Help online
• I used it and it worked

*The software only recorded the main screen and omitted the sound in Premiere Pro.

Recorded RSI would be similar
to Interlingual Respeaking in
which the product would be a
translated text created using
voice recognition software.
The product created in
Recorded RSI, however, is a
video with oral translation or
interpretation dubbed.
12. A few last comments
Recorded Remote Simultaneous Interpreting can be a good option for
interpreters seeking to work remotely. It does not require excellent internet
connection and can be done any time the interpreter wants. It is not real
time, so one interpreter can technically work on the whole session. Recorded
RSI should also be easy to learn since it requires less steps compared to
subtitling and is pretty much the same as just performing simultaneous
interpreting alone and having the chance to redo if you want. With an
increasing demand of working from home and increased data usage across
the globe, Recorded RSI may be a viable option for many.
I hope the very best for everyone.
