Sharon Byon worked as a student employee in the UCLA Anderson School Master of Financial Engineering program office from June 2014 to June 2015. She was responsible for a variety of administrative tasks like preparing admission applications, maintaining databases, answering phones, and assisting with events. It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Sharon Byon, who was a work-study
student employee at the UCLA Anderson School Master of Financial Engineering program office
from the June 2014 to June 2015. I hired Sharon after having interviewed at least six other
student work-study candidates because she stood out to me as someone who was well-
mannered, kind and articulate. She was hired to provide general administrative support to the
Master of Financial Engineering Program office which included but was not limited to preparing
and assembling admission applications for committee review, preparing mailings using mail
merge, maintaining admissions databases, answering phone calls in a professional manner,
responding to inquiries via phone and email, assisting with the preparation of special events,
providing faculty and classroom support, photo copying, running program errands on campus,
updating social media, providing IT support to the MFE staff and faculty and assisting with
other office duties as assigned. She did everything with a positive attitude. During her time in
the MFE office Sharon was conscientious, dependable, punctual and responsible. She had good
organizational skills and was often proactive about initiating work when she was unsupervised.
She was a pleasure to work with and I would hire her again if given the opportunity.
