A STUDY IN SPECIAL REFERENCE TO

4. OBJECTIVES OF THESTUDY
1.To evaluate the role and functioning of krishi
bhavan in our state.
2.To see whether the krishi bhavan has been
able to promote the modern techniques of
agriculture. Which are helpful for farmers?
3.To see the farmers of krishi bhavan are being
benefited by the activities.
5. METHODOLOGY
Thestudy is explorative in natureand is mainly based on primary and secondarydata.
Twoways primarily level enquiryis conducted using pre-tested schedulesand
questionnaire surveyis conducted among krishibhavanmembers as a well asfarmersin
thekurichygrama panchayath. Thetotal population size is 10 wards consisting ofan
average of 250 neach ward, sinceI wasnot be able to coverall, the 10 wards the surveys
are conducted in 3wards ofthe panchayath. 5 respondentswere selected fromeach ward
to collect details. Thesample size is 25 all relevant information for the studysuchas
details ofland each farmershavefor cultivation , type ofseed usefor cultivation weather
local seed or hyvseedand which type of seed are more profitable ? Different type of
fertilizers used for farming?the most important sourcesofirrigation , thechallenges and
problems faced by thefarmersand benefits received from the government ,steps taken
for naturefarming and agriculturedevelopment facilities for improving the activities of
krishibhavan also hasbeen included in thequestionnaire
Thestudy will also make useofthe data from thefollowing secondarysources:-
Published reports ofthe agriculture department
Periodicals, journals, newspaper, internet, etc.
6. Agriculture sector forms a virtual role in the economic development. In the
studyan attempt is made to analyse the effectiveness of krishi bhavan in
Kerala. It is the study with special referenceto kurichy panchayath.
The major findings of analysis are the following:
. It is found that from sample about 50% of the people are working in
agriculture sector , and about 15%working as private employees and about
25% of responds worksas other Govt employees
. Morethan 55%of the people get assistance from krishi bhavan below
Rs.500 and Rs.1000. and 25% people get assistance from krishi bhavan in
Rs.1500-Rs.20000 and above 20000.
. It is also foundthat 45% of the farmers are cultivating coconut and around
and around 35% of the farmers are belonging to banana cultivation .10%

To provide awarenessabout the agricultureand related activities among the residents of
kurichypanchayath.
Providefeedback ofpresident condition ofagriculturein the panchayaththroughthe
gramasaba and panchayathsamathy
Plan, implement, operate and maintain variouscultivation in the panchayathfor self
suffiency
To identify barrenland and maintain variouscultivation in the panchayath forself
suffiency.
Providemore facilities for the cultivation and the allied activities like irrigation,
fertilisers, and pesticides.
