UAL Awarding Body- Foundation
Unit 7- Project Proposal
Section 1: Review
To start off my Ravensbourne experience, I begandoing the exploratory stage
of the Design and Media course which had six different units including
graphics, lens base media, fashion and textiles, 3D and life drawing. After
doing the exploratory stages I then went onto choosing a main pathway,
which was‘Fashion and Textiles’. Within this specific pathway I could then
expand my knowledge in styling, garment designing, promotion, photography
and more, all these skills of which I could use towards my final major project.
Once I had familiarised myself with the full aspects of the fashion and textiles
course I then broadened my skills in using the Adobe Creative Cloud
software, where I used Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. All of these
programs helped me throughout the pathway to edit photographs, create
magazine editorials and many more.I was able to use the knowledge and
skills I gained within a team.
Section 2: Project Concept
For my final major project the main concept of my idea is to focus on isolation
and being surrounded by your own feelings, for example: Anger, loneliness,
depression, sadness, hatred, pain, love and more. As well as using isolation
as the main theme I would also incorporate some objects that are either
opposites or which match the feelings to make the photo-shoot tell a story.
As reference I will research the different forms of feelings and how they affect
people generally and physically. For primary research I would do a survey to
find out major issues.
Issues I am seeking to resolve are to help people come to terms with their
true feelings and resolve problems that would be visual in their emotions. I
would like the public to participate and cooperate for this project.
Throughout my final major project my aim is to create a range of photographs
to represent all the different feelings and emotions people go though and
represent how they feel in a particular situation.
I will experiment with lighting to show the persons emotions and feelings due
to the level of the light surrounding them. I will also use low-key lighting to
show contour of objects and even the models faces to create shadow and a
slight back lighting between the set/backdrop and the model.

Methods I will consider using on these photographs to make the lighting stand
out more is a monochrome effect, this is because it will show more of the
objects detail.
Section 3: Evaluation
During the 7weeks of this project I will record my process in both medias, for
example: Personal sketchbook and blog. Work within my personal sketchbook
will be more visual with images and sketches than writing my process most of
the time. I will create digital experiments to showlayout designs, poses and
models expressions as I will be showing close-ups, lightingand more forms of
visual recording. Another form of evaluation I will use is mydiary that I will
record visual ideas and an action plan to keep on track with what I have done
throughout the entire 7weeks.

Final Major Project Appendix
Section 2
As well as using objects that are either opposites or matches to the feelings I
am going to be portraying, I am also going to be making some of my own
props to symbolise the feelings, for example: A prop that stands out on a
certain part of the body or an extravagant piece to show that person is trying
to draw attention away from their feeling(s).
