2. Movie is preferably among the highest entertainment demand in our 21st century of civilization.
Significantly those who are entwined and caught up in the vast and ever changing world of
cinemas are called movie buffs. Number of films genres existed consist of numerous remarkable
depth of branch. One of the genre includes animated film. Animated films are ones in which
individual drawings, paintings, or illustrations are photographed frame by frame (stop
cinematography) (Tim, 2015). Animators are very peculiar yet remarkable that they are able to
produce a single film composed of a billion intricate moving parts; while trying to ‘hit the nail on
the head’. On the contrary, audience respective reviews are essential to maintain their reputation
rolling. Differences between two distinct animated films are analyse through many aspects. Two
animated films that I have chosen are Corpse Bride and Spirited Away. Some differences covers
on their animation studio background, animation graphics, and genre.
Fundamentally, a firm background root is primary to produce solid structure. Same goes
to animation films which are all rooted from their animation studios, carrying their very own
distinction quality. For instance, the Production Company that has produced Corpse Bride is Tim
Burton Laika Entertainment, while teaming up with Warner Bros Pictures. Laika, as all have
known to mark an interesting spot beneath huge studio production such as Pixar, DreamWorks
due to its record to be attempted to two Academy Award nominees for Best Animated Feature.
Starting as ad agency, Laika was established on 2003 and has become what it has become now.
Unfortunately, the animation studio is rather raw and inexperienced, comparing to bigger studios
in the industry although there is still a long journey down the road. At some terms, the studio is
also retaining from exceeding budget to hire a mix of prominent and unfamiliar voice actors in
Corpse Bride such as Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Watson and etcetera. On the
other hand, Spirited Away was made by a popular Japanese animation studio established on
1985 called Studio Ghibli that means “hot wind blowing through the Sahara Desert”. Hayao
Miyazaki and Isao Takahata are animators exclusively known as founders of the studio.
Abundance of other box office films produced by Ghibli made it surpass massive American
animation studio, Walt Disney, due to its cartoon design wise back in the day. Spirited Away is
somewhat a derivation of Alice in Wonderland that had been put together into something out of
the usual and whimsically rare.
3. Subsequently, the two films has a lovingly pure imagination fable with highly intricate
animation details engaged, both in which portray their own style of screening visuals. Animations
usually fall into one of these three categories - 2D, 3D or Stop motion (The-flying-
animator.com, 2009). Animation film such as Corpse Bride is a stop motion animation which
is a corporative work of framing live shots and sequencing it into a moving picture at an
immense speed. Furthermore, almost every part of the scene are made out of carved out
clays that are painted. The characters are installed with metal joints, making it to be able to
strut a realistic gesture. The respected team of animators require a lot of patience to achieve
the certain quality they aim. Nevertheless, the cost is nominal compared to other types of
animation. As goes to Spirited Away, it is created as 2D animation, which is hand drawn and
was produced flat. The approach seems simple but the film has swept imaginative style to
an entirely new level. Audience was embodied by its very painstakingly particular detail that
was visualized. Not only Best Animated Feature at the 2003 Academy Awards was awarded
to Spirited Away film, but a couple of other awards too.
Furthermore, art, literature, music and ideally all sorts of theme are tied to a diversity
of genres. Basically, genres are to differentiate the mood and content of a certain theme that
is being portrayed. According to IMDb, Corpse Bride is incorporated with genres such as
animation, fantasy & musical through screening of film. Up to 24 different original
soundtrack, the film has successfully recalls another of Tim Burton’s film, Nightmare Before
Christmas. Although the two has the same themes and creative teams, but they mark their
own spot in the audience’s heart. Out of the ordinary, Corpse Bride has a twist of fantasy on
another level that is admirably rare despite their various settings and backgrounds. In
contrast with Spirited Away, the genres are animation, adventure, mystery and family. The
film is disassociate with good versus evil between the protagonist and extraordinaire
antagonists through whirls of adventure and confusing mysteries that is yet to uncover.
Some antagonists include giant Nanny, walking frogs, and enormous ghost wearing a mask.
Along the journey of Chihiro, the main character, searching for her missing parents has
gathered heart-touching scenes, making it a family-based genre that is suited for kids.
4. Although the target audience are fitted for them, parental guidance is crucial despite several
unexplainable scenes.
Finally, until now we are warily conscious that not every film in the phenomenal
animation industry are produced similarly. Marketing has its way to peak in the film world
through diverse of strategy and tactic to tackle their respected audience. Series of
successful film production from the same animation studio can really ease through anything
with great team ethics, brilliant ideas and endurance of patience. Big animation companies
like Pixar, Universal Studios and others are some great studio examples that has work
through hardships to get to where they are now. Theme parks that are collateral with the
studios not only the audience’s delusional delight, but also another way to keep the business
rolling. From my opinion, I personally think the ones that made most of its film production are
the ones with moral values. Those which bonded community and instils life lessons in
human.
