courageous, bold, friendly, patient, and attentive.
But the extent of these traits and other qualities is much dependable on genetics. To see
the genetics in physical traits color is the top preferred qualification, you can go for!
Bulldogs and color association:
The color of the dog’s coat reflects a specific breed, and the breed reflects specific traits.
Color being the trait representative speaks a lot about the dog’s personality and
temperament.

But when it comes to fawn, merle, lilac, etc. understanding the exact color might become
difficult.
So, just for your ease down below are the bulldogs’ coat color names and their meaning.
That’ll help you in selecting the dog of your choice.
Brindle – The most common color in bulldogs’ breed. Brindle-colored dogs feature a dark
color coat with a mix of lighter color codes and strands.
Fawn – A light yellowish tan color preferably with various different shades. Fawn-colored

Bluies – Blues represent bulldogs with distinct blue colors. Blues feature a reddish or gray

The points on the coat reflect golden brown or light fawn colors that are usually found on
eyes, cheeks, chest, and legs (usually inner front of the leg).

A tri-colored bulldog can feature a uniform one-colored coat with small white points on

Black and white:
Black and white bulldogs have a Frenchie coat (referred to as pied or piebald) featuring
black and white markings.
The predominant color is white that never interferes with black markings.
Black and white color in bulldogs fall in the category of non-standard colors, therefore
black and the white bulldog is not an officially recognized breed. Because of this, they’re
not eligible for shows.
Black tri:
Black tri bulldogs’ coat color features deep black patches with tan points on the face,
chest, and legs. Sometimes, brindle is seen over tan points. This breed reflects an eye color
of brown.
White and fawn:
White and fawn bulldogs’ color coat has a dominating white and a recessive fawn. Fawn is
always an even color over the bulldogs’ coat.
White:
White bulldogs’ coat is not an even-pure white color, instead, It’s pied (a coat of white
color with prominent brindle or fawn patches). It’s known as white bulldog because of the
more prominent white patches over a fawn coat.
Brindle and white:
Brindle and white bulldogs’ coat color features a fawn-base with more off-white on it.
Black spots can be seen but are undesirable.

Chocolate tri bulldogs’ coat color is dark brown with tan points on eyes, legs, and face.
They reflect an eye color of green that may turn hazel, sometimes. It’s a high in demand,
popular, rich color.
Fawn:
Fawn bulldogs’ coat color shade is yellowish-tan that varies from light fawn to red fawn.
These dogs typically have a black mask. Fawn is an accepted breed standard bulldog color.
Merle:
Merle bulldogs’ undercoat is blue with darker top coat shades. This newest color in the
bulldogs’ breed comes in tri-pattern usually black tri, chocolate tri, and blue tri. They
reflect ice-blue eye colors.
Lilac tri merle:
As the name shows, it’s a tri-pattern color, featuring lilac, tan, and white with merle
characters (dark tri shades).
Red Fawn:
Red Fawn bulldogs’ coat color shade is light tan that varies from dark pale to dark reddish
tan. These bulldogs feature a dark mask with brindled patched ears.
Brindle:
Brindle bulldogs’ coat color is pre-dominant fawn with dark brindle patches. The color
tone intensity may vary from dog to dog but eyelids, nails, lips, and nose are always
reflecting rich dark tones.
Cream:
Cream bulldogs’ coat color resembles white bulldog’s coat color with the addition of an
eggshell flavor. This eggshell tone dominates the cream bulldogs’ coat and lets no other
patch overcome and reflect.
Blue:

Blue bulldogs’ breed is an undesirable class, still rich in demand. The reason behind the
unlikeliness of this breed is the linkage of the blue color with alopecia (partial or complete
baldness). However, the same issue seems to occur in other colors too.
Black and tan:
Black and tan bulldogs’ coat color is a tri pattern of black, tan with minimum white scars
(scarcely found).
Chocolate and tan:
Chocolate and tan bulldogs’ coat color is a tri of chocolate with tan and no additional
white.
VERDICT
A bulldog coat color speaks a lot about the dog’s trait and is a sure sign of breed
recognition, as bulldogs are categorized on the basis of their coat colors. Coat colors have
varieties and even have specific color nomenclature.
Some of the bulldogs’ coat colors are officially recognized by Kennel Clubs while the rest
are not. Recognized coat colors are prioritized over non-recognized colors. Bulldogs are
allowed in plays and clubs if they feature one of the recognized standard colors.

I have a white male 4 mo. His ears are marbled , but his body has black dots like a
Dalmatian. Is he ok, I’ve never seen another like him.

It is normal for puppies to be born white and their spots start to show over time.
