4. Criticism – This theory proved a
failure in many instances of
forgetting .In LTM such as learning
to ride a bicycle forgetting does not
occur even after neglect.
This theory has provided good
results in explaining forgetfulness in
the case of STM practice or
rehearsal or repetition of learning
always results in preventing decay.
6. Interference Theory as a whole has been proved
quite successful in providing adequate explanation
for natural and normal forgetting for both the
STM and LTM .
7. REPRESSION THEORY
According to this theory Is a mental
function that safe guards the mind from
the impact of painful experience.as a
result of this function we actually push
the unpleasant and painful memories
into the unconscious and thus try to
avoid least consciously .this leads to
forgetting things ,which we do not want
to remember.
