2. OVERVIEW –
END OF YEAR ASSIGNMENTS
• For the next 3 weeks you will be working on assignments that will be linked to work in
Year 2.
• Mainly this covers the following:
– Unit 11 – Preparing for Progresson in the Creative Media Production
– Unit 12 – Specialist Study in Creative Media Production
• Each of these units will link to your career choices and study choice in Year 2. As such
these will be linked to your own interests, specialisms and directions.
• This is essential work, not only for you to progress and be successful in Year 2, but also
they form 2 of 5 units in Year 2. This is important.
3. ASSIGNMENTS
• The following 3 weeks will be structured as follows:
– Week 1: UAL UCAS Proforma [drawing together all your previous units, looking at potential
progression options and beginning your personal statement], setting up UCAS and creating
your Wix website where your Year 2 work will be submitted
– Week 2: Personal Branding exercise – devising a logo and identity for yourself as a producer
and creative practicioner
– Week 3: Initial ideas and research objectives for your Specialist Study Essay [this is an
extended piece of research, investigation and critical writing that links to your Year 2 FMP]
4. WEEK 1 –
‘UAL UCAS PROFORMA’
• On Blackboard in the ‘Y2 Transition’ folder you will find the progression proforma
[along with the other resources you need for this and the following weeks of work].
• This document is fairly self evident, it covers your current qualification, potential
university choices and helps to start structuring your personal statement.
• You should complete this document regardless of your potential progression options
for next year – we are aware not everyone wants to apply to university – as the
information and writing in this will help you in future applications regardless of what
they are.
5. WEEK 1 –

6. WEEK 1 –
WIX SET UP
• We use Wix.com for you to create your site for all your work in Year 2.
• You should approach this as a way of amking a site that reflects your style, looks professional and is clearly
navigable.
• Focus on setting up the sections below and make the site clean and clear to use.
• Avoid [API] the assisted set up and learn how to do it yourself, with some practice it’s quite straightforward.
• It should have the following:
– Front page with intro and your logo [we’ll be doing that next week] and following separate sections, ‘Factual’ ‘Client’
‘Contextual and Critical Studies’ ‘Progression’ ‘FMP’ ‘Portfolio’. Each of those headings should be on your menu to click
on, each should have a page on your site
• Wix works best if you just set up blank pages and avoid preset themes and content. When you use the editor
to set up the menu it will add those page [practice, it’s not too difficult]
• Choose a sensible and logical same for this website, it will not only be the link we use to access your work,
but also the link the moderator will use and the one that universities and employers might use.
• Naming suggestions: ‘yournameY2portfolio’ or ‘yournameY2creativemediawork’ [‘youname’ is your
name…]
Really good examples of good sites here

7. WEEK 1 –
WIX SET UP
• Quick tip, once you’ve registered with Wix.com [you could use the same google login
you used for your college blogger, youtube, etc] and you click on ‘create a new site’
you get the option to choose a style of site, click other and you’ll get a screen giving
you the option of the ADI or the Editior, use the editor, it’s the best way to create from
a template but you can easily remove anything that isn’t needed [pretty much all of it!]
• You should only have work on your site that is yours; videos, photos, etc.
We don’t expect an amazing site straightaway!
You should be looking to get a basic structure as
we’ve asked for and to fine tune and improve the
site as you go through the first term of Year 2.
