INDORE
⚫ Bhopal, Indore, sager, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain are six major cities of Madhya
Pradesh
⚫ Indore has the highest development rate in compare to the other cities with respect to
infrastructures and is the busiest & most advanced business hubs in India
Indore City-Commercial City
⚫ Actually Indore was a resting place for oldest
pilgrimage route for Ujjain then marathas
used it as a route towards Northern India
⚫ Due to army transit camp do attracted the local
zamindars and does the early settlement started
near the banks of river Saraswati and Khan
⚫ The city settlement initiated due to to trade and
commerce and does it remains the dominant
features of the city.
PROCESS OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
OF THE CITY:
⚫ As a religious route
⚫ As a fertile agricultural land with farmers
settlements and traders
⚫ As an industrial Town
⚫ As a commercial city of Madhya Pradesh

⚫ and does the early settlement started near the banks of river Saraswati and Khan
⚫ Indore is the commercial capital of Central India with Large, Medium and Small scale
industries
⚫ These industries range from Automobiles to Pharmaceutical and from Petroleum Refineries
to Textile.
⚫ Indore‟s major source of income is from Education, Textile, Jewellery and Metal works
Industries.
⚫ With an establishment of automobile industry production of optical fiber for
telecommunication also started which in past 5 yrs had generated a business of 3000 corers
and thus giving direct or indirect employment to 35000 people‟s.
⚫ Indore contributes to about 40% of the total productivity of the State and about 7% of the
total investments in equity markets in India.
⚫ The surplus labour, which was unable to enter the formal market/sector was mainly
absorbed in the informal sector.
⚫ Major industrial areas in and surrounding the city include the Pithampur Special Economic
Zone and the Sanwer Industrial belt having about 2000 factories of various sizes .

⚫ Swachh Survekshan 2021 award: Indore bags
the title of India's cleanest city for 5th time in a
row.
⚫ Smart Cities Awards 2020 in which Indore
(Madhya Pradesh) and Surat (Gujarat) won the

Financing Indore - Smart City Proposal
⚫ GoI will provide Rs 500 Crs and Rs 500 Crs has to be invested by
State/ULB
⚫ Any excess fund requirement will be mobilized through
⚫ dovetailing the Retrofitting Proposal with one of the Redevelopment
Proposals (within or outside) which would generate the required funds
in full or part for the Retrofitting Proposals
⚫ IMC’s Own Sources -IMC may start generating Dedicated Smart City
Fund, to be mobilized through
⚫ Levying of Smart City Development Surcharge/ Cess on Property tax of
particular area as above.
⚫ Levying of Smart City Development Surcharge on Utility Billsof chosen Pan City
Initiative .
⚫ Premium from Commercial Development.
⚫ FAR on Payment (additional FAR over Threshold) and other paid incentives
⚫ Levy of User Charges for O&M and Debt Servicing
⚫ Any excess fund requirement will be mobilized through

  • 4. ⚫ Actually Indore was a resting place for oldest pilgrimage route for Ujjain then marathas used it as a route towards Northern India ⚫ Due to army transit camp do attracted the local zamindars and does the early settlement started near the banks of river Saraswati and Khan ⚫ The city settlement initiated due to to trade and commerce and does it remains the dominant features of the city.   • 55. ⚫ Any excess fund requirement will be mobilized through ⚫ Part of 14th Finance Commission Funds ⚫ Private Sector Equity in SPV to the extent of 49% ⚫ PPP Packages for bankable projects in the Smart City Proposal ⚫ Monetization of Land ⚫ Municipal Bonds through credit rating ⚫ Debt from Financial Institutions ⚫ Repayment done through Dedicated Urban Development Fund or ⚫ TaxIncrement Financing may be sought (to raise loans on future gainsin property tax for a particular area or particular service) ⚫ Generation of Fund through FAR on Payment (additional FAR over Threshold) and other paid incentives ⚫ Generation of Fund through TOD by providing additional FAR in the selected Corridors which will also support Public transport by increasing the Ridership. ⚫ Part convergence of schemes through AMRUT, Swachh Bharat Mission and Housing for All.
