1. 436245-135890
The musical Theatres first began and flourished in ancient Greece between 550 and 220BC.Athens was the main centre for these theatrical traditions. The Greek theatre began with festivals honouring the gods.
Tragedy, comedy and satyr play (tragic comedy) were the first genres to emerge in theatres. theatres were originally built on a very large scale to accommodate the large number of people on stage, as well as the large number of people in the audience, up to fourteen thousand, both male and female who were wealthy filled the seats to watch the performances, meanwhile peasants would form parades outside and sing hymns to the god’s. The actor's were always men and would take over female roles in those times.
The music used in the theatres would be folk music and the ballad-like reciting of epic poetry.
28638507797806874510858520The main differences between theatres from that time and theatres in the present are that now there is a blur of music and dancing combined together whether it be soulful, opera even rock depending on the storyline. Another main difference is musical theatres today interact a whole lot more with their audience.
-128270157480
