If you look around, you can see a number of things
like pencil, fork , knife, glass etc. They are made up of
different kind of material and called matter.

3. What is matter made up of ?
According to ancient Indian philosopher, matter is made
up of 5 substances
Earth Fire
Water Air
Sky
4. Maharshi Kanada, an Indian
philosopher was first to
suggest that matter is made
up of very tiny particles called
Anu, which is formed further
smaller particle called
Parmanu.
Later Permanu was named as atom by Greek thinker Democritus
Later on John Dalton suggested that all kind of matter are made up of
extremely small particles called atoms.

Particles of matter are very small
Particles of matter have inter particle space between them
Particles of matter are in constant random motion
Particles of matter attract each other & the force is called as
intermolecular force of attraction
