Postgraduate Research Excellence Symposium (PGReS) was introduced in May
2011. In the year of 2011 to 2015, 222 students have presented their research works.

To assist students in achieving excellence in research.

 To provide a platform for student to exercise presentation skills
 To increase students contributions of publication in ISI Journal

EXCELLENCE SYMPOSIUM (PGRES)
UM3MT (University of Malaya Three Minute Thesis) is a University of Malaya base Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
• The 3MT competition is first developed by The University of Queensland, Australia, to provide a great platform for research
students in exercising their communication and research skills through a three minute presentation.
• The participants should explain their theses in language that is comprehensible for a non-specialist audience.
Why do it?
• To provide communication skills training for postgraduate
research students.
• To Provide an outlet for postgraduate research students to talk
about their work to a general audience.

Thesis (UM3MT)
WINNER UM3MT 2016 (UNIVERSITY LEVEL COMPETITION)
University of Malaya Three-Minute Thesis (UM3MT) competition was
successfully held on 1 April 2016 (Friday) at the IPPP Auditorium with colorful
presentation by participants, even overall comments by the Judge.
And it was very exciting moment for FCSIT as Mr Aminu Mustapha Bagiwa
(WHA130056), PhD student, under Department of Computer System &
Technology been announced as UM3MT 2016 Champion.
MIMOS Prestigious Award (MPA) represents MIMOS’ highest recognition of the contributions of the research community
and the industry to the nation’s global competitiveness. It emphasises the critical roles played by all actors in the
development of a successful innovation ecosystem for Malaysia. In the spirit of Open Innovation, the MPA is set to fuel
innovation as it augments the creativity, skills and capabilities of Malaysian research and business talent to undertake
bigger and more innovative projects in the future.

UM3MT (University of Malaya Three Minute Thesis) is a University of Malaya base Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. • The 3MT competition is first developed by The University of Queensland, Australia, to provide a great platform for research students in exercising their communication and research skills through a three minute presentation. • The participants should explain their theses in language that is comprehensible for a non-specialist audience. Why do it? • To provide communication skills training for postgraduate research students. • To Provide an outlet for postgraduate research students to talk about their work to a general audience. PG ACTIVITIES University of Malaya Three Minute Thesis (UM3MT) WINNER UM3MT 2016 (UNIVERSITY LEVEL COMPETITION) University of Malaya Three-Minute Thesis (UM3MT) competition was successfully held on 1 April 2016 (Friday) at the IPPP Auditorium with colorful presentation by participants, even overall comments by the Judge. And it was very exciting moment for FCSIT as Mr Aminu Mustapha Bagiwa (WHA130056), PhD student, under Department of Computer System & Technology been announced as UM3MT 2016 Champion.
