  7. 7. GRADUATE STUDIES IN UUM <ul><li>more than 50 programmes at masters and doctorate level. </li></ul><ul><li>conducted by three (3) Academic Colleges – College of Business, College of Arts & Sciences and College of Law, Government & International Studies </li></ul>

STRUCTURE OF POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES <ul><li>Coursework </li></ul><ul><li>Students are required to attend lectures and tutorials for aduration of fourteen (14) weeks per semester, followed by three (3) weeks of examination. Students have to fulfill a set credit hours based on course requirements in order to be awarded a degree. </li></ul><ul><li>Coursework and Thesis/Dissertation </li></ul><ul><li>Students are required to complete coursework credit requirements and sit for examinations. Students are also required to submit a written thesis/dissertation for examination. </li></ul><ul><li>Research </li></ul><ul><li>Candidates pursuing research degrees undertake research under the supervision of a principal supervisor appointed by the respective College. At the end of the programme, candidates are required to submit a written thesis/dissertation for examination. Candidates may be required to pursue pre-requisite courses before undertaking their research. These courses are determined by the respective Colleges. </li></ul>

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS <ul><li>Master’s Degree Programme </li></ul><ul><li>A Bachelor’s Degree with Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other Higher Learning Institution recognised by the University Senate; or </li></ul><ul><li>A Bachelor’s Degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other Higher Learning Institution with at least three (3) years working experience in related field; or </li></ul><ul><li>A Diploma holder with ten (10) years working experience and 35 years minimum of age ; or </li></ul><ul><li>Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the University Senate. </li></ul><ul><li>A Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Accounting recognized by the University Senate and CPA (Australia) for Master of Business Administration (Professional Accounting). </li></ul>

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS <ul><li>Doctor of Philosophy </li></ul><ul><li>A Master’s Degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other Higher Learning Institution recognised by University Senate; or </li></ul><ul><li>A Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other Higher Learning Institution recognised by the University Senate; or </li></ul><ul><li>Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the University Senate. </li></ul><ul><li>Doctor of Business Administration </li></ul><ul><li>A Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other Higher Learning Institution recognised by the University Senate; or </li></ul><ul><li>Any other equivalent qualification recognised by the University Senate. </li></ul>

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS <ul><li>International students should fulfill the English requirements as stated below: </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>a score of not less than 500 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>a minimum of Band 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>obtain a Bachelor’s degree from any Higher Institution in an English speaking country (USA, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and etc.) </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>International candidates who do not possess any of the above, should sit and obtain a pass grade in the English Language Placement Test (ELPT), which will be conducted by UUM. </li></ul>
  14. 14. APPLICATION METHOD <ul><li>By downloading and filling in the application form from the web ( www.uum.edu.my ) and sending it to the respective Colleges. </li></ul><ul><li>Each application should enclose a payment of RM 50.00 for processing fee. </li></ul>
