2. PROFESSIONAL GOALS 2
Behavioural and Generic Professional Goals
Behavioural Goals:
Use two different types of indirect assessments with teachers in the classroom and the parents
of the child that is being assessed. Use a face to face interview technique and a rating form for
levels of problem behaviour sheet within the first three weeks of placement. Instead of just using
direct observation to get data, relying on the people who are with the child the most for
information about the client can be very helpful.
When measuring the child’s behaviour make sure to use ABC recording and measure the
duration of the target behaviour during the first two weeks of placement for baseline recording.
This individual tends to avoid using those two recording measurements so setting a goal to use
them will lead to practice and being comfortable with these two measurement styles.
Generic Goals:
Use excel for graphing the data points during baseline and treatment phases at least twice a
week during placement to gain more knowledge and experience. Being able to understand the
use of excel in this program and in most occupations is very beneficial as technology is
advancing and is used for almost all forms of recording data.
When on placement arrange a time twice a week to touch base with the placement supervisor
on how everything is going. It is important to maintain a steady and consistent time to
communicate with the supervisor so all questions and concerns can be addressed. This individual
often does not feel comfortable calling people to talk on the phone, so this skill of over the phone
communication needs to be improved.
