4. The title of the film is placed at the beginning of the credit sequence. The title is typed out
into a google search engine which fits with the entirety of the film. It’s kept simple and clear
and is the only piece of information on the scene to highlight it’s what the audience must look
at in the shot.
5. The first shot of the credit sequence (after the title) is used to introduce the director – Shawn Levy. The shot is given the
format of a google search page with the film itself in the search bar and results. This reflects the whole theme of the film
which is Google; the films plot resolving around Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn's characters getting internships at Google.
The whole title sequence resembles a computer screen in use, different credits appearing in different aspects of the internet.
This credit sequence in particular differs from other films as the title of the film is put right at the beginning of the sequence.
As well as this, the cast are put last; the writers and camera and sound crew getting a feature first. This organizing also reflects
the film as it puts the people behind the scenes first symbolizing their importance; Google itself being created by ‘the brains’.
The song in this sequence is ‘Try it Again’ by The Hives which is an upbeat alternative song which fits with the comedic genre
of the film.
6. Each casting shot keeps to the credit sequence ‘computerstic’ (Google) theme. The top left and right credits feature the films two actors who played the two main
protagonists. They are the only cast members who have a different format of casting shot which shows their importance; them playing the most important
characters. On top of these shots the sequence plays the sound from the video where the two characters introduce themselves. As the character says their name, the
shot with the actor who plays the corresponding character appears so the audience is extremely clear on who plays who. On the left and right casting shot on the
bottom, each picture is tagged with ‘exchange-a-gram’ which relates to an pun made earlier in the film which the audience who have watched the film will
understand. The shots themselves are framed to look like the Google images page; the rest of the cast being introduced in a similar way.
7. The rest of the sequence upkeeps the same
Google format with a consistent use of bright
colours that work well with the theme of the
entire sequence. The colour scheme and fast
pace of the sequence corresponds to the films
the genre; an upbeat song like this typically
assumed to be played for a comedy. Also
throughout the sequence various images that
were not shown in the movie itself make an
appearance in different areas of different
shots; this lets the audience see the characters
experiences even after the film.
8. At the very end of the sequence, what resembles the likeliness of a YouTube Video begins to play which
is revealed to be a bonus scene. This scene contributes to the various pictures that the audience saw in
earlier parts of the credits as it’s a scene that takes place after the film’s time span. This scene purposely
includes the two main protagonists as well as Will Ferrell’s character that only made a small cameo
appearance. This is most likely aimed at Will Ferrell’s already established fan base – ultimately giving him
a little more screen time than initially intended just to keep the audience happy.
