3. Introduction
In September 2015, the Pakistan Cricket Board officially announced the launch of the Pakistan Super League.
Former captains Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja signed up to become brand ambassadors of the PSL for the next
three years. After several years of planning, the league will officially begin on February 4, 2016, in the United Arab
Emirates. The PSL immediately took the place as one of the leagues that contested for the annual T20 cup. The PSL
will begin with five teams (all based in Pakistan) and, through a series of expansions over the next several seasons,
will expand to a 10 team league with two conferences.
Individual Awards:
The Hanif Mohammad award and a green cap are awarded to the leading run-scorer. It is an ongoing
competition with the leading run-scorer wearing the cap throughout the tournament until the final game,
with the eventual winner keeping the cap and receiving the award for the season.The Fazal Mahmood award
and a maroon cap are awarded to the leading wicket-taker in the same way whilst the Imtiaz Ahmed award
is awarded to the best wicket-keeper. All three awards were introduced in the second PSL season.

6. The team is owned by Javed Afridi who is a renowned Businessman. Peshawar Zalmi was established in 2015
following the announcement of the inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL) by the Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB).

7. The team name and the official logo were revealed on 6 January 2016
in Quetta during a ceremony held by team owner Nadeem Omar. The logo
depicts a variant of the ancient Roman 'Galea' helmet, worn by gladiators
during their fights. The helmet is flanked by two bats that are poised as
gladiatorial swords. The team's primary kit colours are Purple and Golden.
The kit was revealed on 7 January 2016 in a launch ceremony held
in Quetta.
The team's chant is Kai Kai Quetta, which is taken from the war cry, Kai
Kai, coined by the Baloch Regiment during World War II. It literally
translates to 'we are coming.

8. Islamabad United are the inaugural champions of the Pakistan Super League.

result of the formation of the
Pakistan Super League by the

Stadium. The team is currently
captained by Imad Wasim, and was
coached by Dean Jones, until his
sudden death on 24 September 2020.

10. In April 2017, a few weeks after the conclusion of PSL 2, PSL chairman Najam Sethi announced
that there would be a sixth team in the third season of PSL. Pakistan Cricket Board short-listed
five regions for the sixth team.
On 1 June 2017, from those five regions, Multan was bought by Schön Properties after winning a
bid of US$5.2 million per year for an eight-year contract against 10 contesting bidders. The total
contract was worth US$41.6 million. Thus, the Sultans becoming the most expensive team of the
PSL replacing Karachi Kings then.
