S.N.R.E. Biogas – Our Certificates
Objective
 To provide clean cooking fuel for kitchens, lighting and meeting other thermal and
small power needs of farmers/dairy farmers /users including individual households
and to improve organic manure system based on bio slurry from biogas plants in rural
and semi urban areas by setting up of small size biogas plants of 1 to 25 Cubic Metre
capacity.
 To mitigate drudgery of women and time saving for them for other livelihood activities
and reduce pressure on forests and accentuate social benefits.
 To improve sanitation in rural and semi-urban areas including linking sanitary toilets
with cattle dung biogas plants.
 To provide biogas plant produced slurry (liquid / semi-solid or dried) as an organic
enriched bio- manure to help reduce use of chemical fertilizers such as urea, linking
biogas slurry with enrichment units such as vermicomposting, Phosphate Rich
Organic Manure (PROM) plants and other organic enrichment facilities as a source of
value addition to bio gas plant slurry.
 To meet ‘lifeline energy’ needs for clean cooking as envisaged in “Integrated Energy
Policy” of NITI Aayog (Planning Commission).
• To help in combating and reduction in causes of climate change by preventing
emissions of Green House Gases ( GHGs) such as carbon dioxide and methane into
the atmosphere.

• Alternate way of generating energy from waste which would otherwise go to a
landfill site and contribute to air, land and ground water pollution
• Short Return On Investment (ROI) time of 4 – 5 years as compared to other
renewable energy sources like Solar Plants
• Low maintenance
• Output of Biogas Plants are commercially viable products – Gas for electricity
generation, slurry usage as liquid manure, slurry usage in bio ethanol production
from algae
• Eligible for subsidy from M.N.R.E. under NBMMP program
• Opportunity to trade Carbon Credits under CPM/CDM Mechanism
• Reduce carbon footprint and contribute to Swachh Bharat Mission

Management Program (NBMMP) under M.N.R.E.
• Eight Biogas Development and Training Centers currently operational
under NBMMP program and more are planned to be established
• Total target of 100,000 biogas plants to be erected in year 2016-17 as
special focus from Government of India towards Biogas generation and
using it as a substitute of LPG cylinders and to promote usage of biofuel
for off-grid electricity generation
• Government of India provides subsidy in construction for setting up of
Biogas plants up-to 6m3 capacity
• Per Kw Central Financial Assistance is available for installation of biogas
based power generation units
• Biogas plants are aligned under Swwach Bharat Abhiyan of
Government of India

  • 5. Objective  To provide clean cooking fuel for kitchens, lighting and meeting other thermal and small power needs of farmers/dairy farmers /users including individual households and to improve organic manure system based on bio slurry from biogas plants in rural and semi urban areas by setting up of small size biogas plants of 1 to 25 Cubic Metre capacity.  To mitigate drudgery of women and time saving for them for other livelihood activities and reduce pressure on forests and accentuate social benefits.  To improve sanitation in rural and semi-urban areas including linking sanitary toilets with cattle dung biogas plants.  To provide biogas plant produced slurry (liquid / semi-solid or dried) as an organic enriched bio- manure to help reduce use of chemical fertilizers such as urea, linking biogas slurry with enrichment units such as vermicomposting, Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) plants and other organic enrichment facilities as a source of value addition to bio gas plant slurry.  To meet ‘lifeline energy’ needs for clean cooking as envisaged in “Integrated Energy Policy” of NITI Aayog (Planning Commission). • To help in combating and reduction in causes of climate change by preventing emissions of Green House Gases ( GHGs) such as carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere. 5 NNBOMP - About
