CONCEPT OF
INCLUSIVE AND
SPECIAL EDUCATION
CONCEPT OF INCLUSIVE AND SPECIAL EDUCATION IS FOR REALIZING THE DREAMS
OF "EDUCATION FOR ALL" .
THESE MEANS SOMETHING MORE THAN MERE ACCEPTANCE OF CHILDREN WITH
DISABILITIES IN THE MAINSTREAM. IT IS FOCUSED ON RESTRUCTURING OF
SCHOOLS TO ACCEPT AND FULFILL NEEDS OF ALL STUDENTS SO THAT EVERY
CHILDREN SHOULD GET OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND THRIVE IN SOCIETY.
Inclusive
education
 It is a classroom in which all the student
with or without disabilities can learn
under one roof
 The main Moto of inclusiveness is to
provide same opportunities and learning
on their potential.
 Inclusive education provides education to
specially abled students along with
normal students and by providing
proper facilities.
 Inclusive educational school welcomes all
the children with different abilities. the
school uses so many multi skilled
personals, teachers, specialists,
psychologist, volunteers and other
students can also help their fellow.
DEFINITION
 Stainback and Stainback (1992)
: inclusive setup may be defined as a
place where everyone belongs, is
accepted, supports and is supported by
his or her peers and other member of
school community in the course of
having his or her educational needs
met.
IMPORTANCE INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
 It works on principle of inclusion i.e. including all a student included in this
system without any discrimination and consideration of their
exceptionalities.
 Inclusion gives message "everyone belongs to school".
 It helps the inclusion of exceptional children in the mainstream of society.
 inclusive education helps to overcome inferiority complex prevailing in the
mind of disabled children due to exceptionality.
 The goal of "universalization of education" can be achieved by following the
principles of inclusive education.
 All in all concept of inclusive education provides foundation for exceptional
children which cannot be achieved in special classes of special schools.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
 Special education is education of students with the
special needs in a way that address the students
"individual differences" and needs.
 This process is totally different from program meant for
normal students studying in normal schools.
 Ideally the process of special education involves
individually planned and systematically monitored
arrangement of teaching procedures, adopted
equipments and material accessible settings and other
interventions design to help learners with special
needs.
DEFINITION
 According to Kirk and Gallagher(1986):
When youngsters in same classroom are remarkably
different. it is difficult for the teacher to help them
reach their educational potential without some kind of
assistance. The help that school device for children
who differ significantly from the norm is called special
education.
IMPORTANCE OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
 special education helps to fulfill special needs and requirements of
exceptional children whether gifted or backward.
 The nature of special education is diagnostic i.e. it helps in diagnosing and
identifying the children with exceptionalities so that the special
arrangement could be made to provide special case and provision.
 special education is quite specific i.e. it requires special teachers, special
students, special arrangements, special equipment and special
environment to run special educational program.
Difference between special education
and inclusive education
Special education
 Focus: focuses on providing
individualized support and services
 Separate setting: it often involves
separate classrooms or schools.
 Individualized Education Plan: have
(IEP) that outlines their specific goals,
accommodations and modifications.
 Specialized instruction: it
may include adaptive tech. Assistive
devices, and individualized teaching
methods
Inclusive education
 Focus: providing equal educational
opportunities for all student.
 Mainstreaming: integration of all
student into regular classroom.
 Collaborative approach: promote
collaboration among teachers,
parents, and students to
develop strategies that address the
diverse need of student.
 Social interaction: encourages peer
support and creates opportunities for
inclusive activities
CONCLUSION
 inclusive and special education is
quite vast and comprehensive subject in
all aspects.
 Special education focuses on separate,
specialized settings and individualized
support for students with disabilities.
 Inclusive education emphasizes equal
opportunities, integration, and
individualized accommodations within
regular classrooms, aiming supportive
learning for all students.
