Unleash FME's hidden potential for Linear Referencing System (LRS) workflows. Learn how to work with FME's LRS tools to support your measures, events and route geometries.
You'll also see how FME can switch between LRS datasets and a segmented LRS model, to allow others to view the data in more traditional GIS platforms. Plus, hear how Bo Guo of GISTEC is helping his customers use FME to solve their LRS problems.
7. Data integration difficulties
often result from multiple
data formats.
Just because you have different
kinds of data, doesn’t mean they
can’t be brought together to solve
your data problems.
8. FME can be used to integrate data,
automate data delivery, and
ensure data quality.
Everything LRS needs.

Linear Referencing
Linear referencing is used to manage
infrastructure data related to linear
features, like pipelines, railways, highways
and powerlines, and related assets, like
valves, switches, signposts, towers.
LRS is also used to manage characteristics
along the linear assets, such as diameter,
number of tracks, surface type.
It’s like an addressing system for linear
infrastructure.
12. Common LRS Tasks
● Asset Management – Stationing Points
● Creating Routes or Network Linear

● Adding Measures to Routes
● Creating Event Tables from Geometry

28. Straight Line Diagrams
Convert distance measures to percentage.
Point events are symbolized on axis line.
Linear events become bar graph.
29. For segmented data, use conversion techniques before creating diagram.
