This project proposes a power system protection device integrated with Internet of Things technologies to enhance electrical safety. The system fast disconnects power in cases of faults like leakage current or overcurrent. It also enables real-time monitoring and notification of events through advanced communication. The system uses devices like circuit breakers, relays, NodeMCU, PLC and SCADA to monitor a feeder line and protect it by quickly disconnecting in cases of faults.

2. • This project proposes a power-system protection
device designed to be integrated in smart
environments based on Internet-of-Things
technologies.
• The proposed system enhances electrical safety
by fast disconnection of the power supply in case
of fault events like leakage current, electrical arc,
overcurrent.
• The system also enables real-time monitoring and
notification events through an advanced
communication.
INTRODUCTION:-
3. WHY WE ARE GOING WITH IOT:-
WITHOUT IOT WITH IOT
• Less continuity of power supply. • More continuity of power supply.
• Less speed disconnection when fault
occurs.
• High speed disconnection when fault
occurs.
• More man power is required • less man power is required
• No real-time monitoring. • Real-time monitoring.
• Less efficiency. • More efficiency.
4. WHAT IS FEEDER...?
Feeder is “voltage power line transferring power from
a distribution substation to the distribution
transformers ”.In an electrical wiring circuit in a
building which Feeder is a “wire/line that carries
power from a transformer or switch gear to a
distribution panel.”
5. WHY PROTECTION IS IMPORTANT…?
The modern age has come to depend heavily upon continuous power supply.
COMPUTER , TELECUMMUNICATION NETWORKS , RAILWAY NETWORKS,
BANKING and CONTINOUS POWER INDUSTRIES are a few applications that
just cannot function without highly reliable power source.
No power system cannot be design in such a way that they would never failed . so,
protection is required for proper working.
10. VACCUM CIRCUIT BREAKER
• EDO
• MDO
TWO TYPES OF VCB
ACCESSORIES IN VCB
• CLOSING COIL
• SHORT RELEASE –TRIP COIL
• SPRING CHARGE MOTOR
11. CONTACTORS;-
A contactor is an electrically-controlled
switch used for switching an electrical
power circuit. A contactor is typically
controlled by a circuit which has a much
lower power level than the switched circuit,
such as a 24-volt coil electromagnet
controlling a 230-volt motor switch.
13. An octal base relay (like the one shown in
diagram) is one of the most common
electrical devices in use today. Also referred
to as general purpose relays, they're widely
available in both 8 and 11 pin models.
This basic relay is constructed of 5 main
parts:
The Coil
The Armature
The Contacts
The Base (which consists of the socket pins)
The Molded Plastic Frame
PLA RELAY:-
14. SMPS:-
A switched-mode power supply (switching-mode power supply, switch-mode
power supply, switched power supply, SMPS, or switcher) is an electronic power
supply that incorporates a switching regulator to convert electrical power efficiently.
Like other power supplies, an SMPS transfers power from a DC or AC source
(often mains power) to DC loads, such as a personal computer, while
converting voltage and current characteristics.
15. ESP8266 is a low-cost, WiFi Module chip that can
be configured to connect to the Internet for Internet
of Things(IoT) and similar Technology Projects.
Basically, Your normal Electrical and Mechanical
equipments cannot connect to the Internet on their
own. They don’t have the in-built setup to do so.
You can setup ESP8266 with these equipments
and do amazing stuff. Controlling, Monitoring,
Analysis and much more.
16. PLC:-
• PLC stands for
programmable logic
controller
• It is digital computer used
for automation of
electromechanical
processes
17. HOW DOES A PLC WORK?
• The PLC receives information from connected
sensors or input devices , processes the data , and
triggers outputs based on pre-programmed
parameter.
• Depending upon on the inputs and outputs , a PLC
can monitor and record run-time data such as
automatically start and stop processes , generate
alarms if machine malfunctions and more.
• PLC are a flexible and robust control solution ,
adaptable to almost any application.
19. ADVANCED FEATURES:-
BLYNK APP Control Arduino, ESP8266,
ESP32, NodeMCU, Particle Photon,
Raspberry Pi and other microcomputers
with the smartphone over the Internet.
Bluetooth and BLE supported too.
Create beautiful interfaces with widgets
like buttons, knobs, graphs, displays and
many more.
20. SCADA:-
• SCADA stands for Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition .
• It is a graphical representation of
ladder logic for monitoring and
control.
• SCADA is a software used to monitor ,
control and acquire data from field
devices even from remote location
23. FUTURE SCOPE:-
The advanced version of this project is we can
control the system without using any wire
from any where by giving IP address to
programmable controller
