WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN?
Infertile patients’ well being is affected by fertility clinic
and staff characteristics. It has been documented that
patients value positive attributes of fertility clinics (e.g.
accessibility, easiness to access, comfort) and fertility
staff positive attributes (e.g. courtesy, sensitivity, being
available to for patients questions).
However, it remains unclear which of all these
components of care is more likely to affect the quality
of life (QoL) of men and women undergoing assisted
reproductive techniques.
To examine the effect of components of care on
patients QoL during assisted reproduction and
preferences of means for receiving information
Participants were undergoing IVF treatment and were
invited to fill out a questionnaire at the day of oocyte
retrieval. Measures assessed satisfaction with several
components of fertility care and quality of life in
treatment [FertiQoL (Boivin et al., 2011): treatment
module: | tolerability and environment subscales]
SATISFACTION WITH FERTILITY CARE DURING
ASSISTED REPRODUCTION AND ITS IMPACT IN
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S QUALITY OF LIFE
Clarity of information and information on treatment procedures and demands are important predictor of patients
QoL, namely of treatment related QoL, especially in patients undergoing their first IVF cycle.
Providing full and clear information on treatment procedures significantly contributes to patients’ wellbeing.
Participants were 88 infertile couples (response rate of
66.7%) mostly undergoing their first In vitro fertilization
(IVF) treatment (68,6%).

For patients undergoing their first IVF cycle, when
information was provided less clearly, patients reported
more mental and physical symptoms and disruption in
daily life. (p = .001) For patiens with previous treatments,
clarity of informatio did not affected QoL (p = .862)
