This document summarizes a project presented by three students to design an IoT-based system to improve medication adherence in Bangladesh. The system uses sensors and an Android application to provide timely reminders to patients about medications. It allows users to store prescription and inventory data, and find nearby hospitals. The project aims to help patients manage their care independently and ensure they take the right medications on schedule. It was developed using a waterfall model and integrates hardware like an LCD display, real-time clock and buzzer with a cloud-based database and mobile app to achieve these goals.

3. Design and Development of an IoT based System for
Improving Medication Adherence in Bangladesh
WE ARE WORKED AND RESEARCH ON
4. ABSTRACT
This project proposes a smart medication adherence system with
remind and consumption function. Which is used to give alert and
notification the user to take medicine at a particular time and the
medicine required to take at that time comes out to the user to avoid
confusion among medicines. Medication Adherence can reduce
elderly family member’s responsibility towards giving the correct
and timely consumption of medicines.
5. INTRODUCTION:
Most patients with chronic diseases need to take pills over a prolonged period of time in order to
stabilize their conditions. Ensuring that the patients consume the right pills at the appropriate time
becomes crucial.
This project deals with the time at particular, the Patient needs to take pills. The timing is set to the
system initially reminding and it can be changed by the patient according to his requirement.
The system will start alarm at that particular time. To make the user-friendly system, the LCD, and
Keypad connected to the system. This helps to change pills time. After having pills, the user must
have to put the no. of pills he removed from the box.
As, the no. of pills remains very few, the order for the particular pill is sent by the system
automatically to medical shop through GSM system. So, it is helpful to user to get the pill at particular
time and avoid confusion among pills.
6. Identification of the problems
When the patient has to take medicine timely but they
fails to do so.
Sometimes they forget to find which doctor they are
visited or where they have kept the prescription.
Sometime peoples need to find hospitals in their
nearest area but they can’t do so.
When the patient can't remember which medicines to
purchase and when they need to purchase.
7. OBJECTIVES:
To design and develop an IoT based system to improve
medication adherence in Bangladesh.
To help patients to manage self-care with timely reminder and
notification of medication.
To enable people with a portable prescription and medication
inventory system.
8. PROJECT METHODOLOGY:
Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied
to a field of study… Typically, it encompasses concepts such as paradigm,
theoretical model, phases and quantitative or qualitative techniques. A
methodology does not set out to provide solutions - it is therefore, not the
same as a method
9. Overview of Water Fall Model:
We have followed waterfall model of the software development process model to develop this
project. Following is a diagrammatic representation of different phases of waterfall model

19. FUTURE WORK
There are several aspects to further improve in this
proposed system. It could be developed for Blind and
partial Deaf person. And several features- like as heartbeat
sensor, blood pressure measurement system can be added.
It could be developed for doctor to patient direct
communication and between their data transfer with
notification.
20. CONCLUSIONS:
The proposed system is suitable for all kinds of patients. It efficiently controls
the time of patients to take medicine and can store full information the doctor
prescriptions. It also reduces the ratio that patient misses and delays taking
medicine. In addition, the box also has a cold storage for few precise medicine.
If the tablets are empty in the box it sends an alert message to refill it. Find field
helps in locating the box.
