• A great example of verisimilitude is superman. We all know that a
people can not fly, but the way the story is created in superman, we
believe he can, this is verisimilitude.
• Whereas if someone flew in a TV drama like Hollyoaks, it would
seem too unreal and wrong, verisimilitude is not achieved.
• Another example of when verisimilitude is used is in the movie Harry
Potter. In this movie we see witches and wizards casting spells and
all that; but we know that magic is not real; however the story
created behind it makes us believe, here verisimilitude is achived .
Verisimilitude is a philosophical concept that distinguishes between the
truth and the falsity of assertions and hypotheses.[1] The problem of
verisimilitude is the problem of articulating what it takes for one false
theory to be closer to the truth than another false theory.
