Relational dimensions(microsystem)
Sarah was livingwithhermotherandstepfather. Twoyearsago, when Sarah was at the age of 13,
her mother married to a man but Sarah was not comfortable with her stepfather. After her
mother’s marriage, there was no privacy. Her stepfather was unknown for her and there was no
connectionof father-daughterbetweenthem.She misseddifferentaspectsof life after her father

behaviorof herstepfather.Sarah’sstepfatherhasbeen physically and emotionally harassed her.
Aftertwoyears,whenSarahturn into15 years,her stepfathersexuallyassaultedher.She hadtold
no one aboutthis, beingterrifiedthatshe wouldbe removedfromthe home. After one month of
this incident Sarah decided to leave her home. Because she knows that her mother trusted her
husband instead of her daughter, she decided to leave the home. Before leaving the house she
left a letter for her mother and left a letter about the whole incident.
Social dimensions(mesosystem)
Sarahs’familyhavingthree membersincludinghermother,stepfatherandherself. she decidedto
leave the house justbecause of herstepfathermolested behavior. Sarah‘s mother didn’t believe
Sarah aboutall the storyshe have writteninthe letteraboutherstepfatherbehavior. Her mother
screamed at her for making up stories. However Sarah knows that she will be responsible for
shelter and food as she had decided to leave the house isolated and frustrated in new society
withoutherfamilyandsupport. She left family and friends and start living with her friend at her
house.
Even though Sarah knows that she will have no shelter and food to live after leaving her own
house. But her priority was to secure herself. However, Sarah seems to be very positive and
optimist with life as it looks like that she had accepted and try to be secure on how to live, she
looksfine she mighthave possiblysomeone to whom she can talk and share which is helping her
mental well-beingatthe same time.Sarah hasleftschool as well, althoughshe occasionallykeeps
in touch with a teacher. She wants to finish secondary school. These all-social dimensions can
affect any individuals psychologically, mentally, and physically as such anxiety, depression,

her house, she faced accommodation and food problem. She was sleeping rough at her friend
house. She don’thave supportandno one washere to listenheraboutall the reasonsthat caused
to be homeless. She findsthatshe oftenfeelsoverwhelminglydepressed, andkeeps back the bad
memories of assaulted by her stepfather. This was the reason that she won’t continue her
secondary education. She has lack of options to survive, to live again a normal life. She need
supportof people, friends, relative to get rid of threaten memories of being assaulted. She was
not enough confident to take any action or confronting with her stepfather. Therefore, she was
isolated, emotionally torn and wrapped by many tension since there is no one from her family,
friends, and relatives to support him any way possible.
Cultural dimensions(macrosystem)
She had hercultural valuesand she didn’tacceptthe Physicallyandemotionallyabusive behavior
of herfather. Her experiencedwith step relations was terrible. Sarah started living stressful life
and un unfortunate situationwhere she seemshelplessnone of social welfareorganizationsassist
her and was able to build personal development or helped in to get even a emotional stability.
Sometimes Cultural dimensions may arouse higher risk of mental well-being because many
cultural factors affect people to live in same community sharing different beliefs which could
possiblyresultin stress, risk of isolation, resistance to chance, discrimination etc. she thought if
she take any action about her stepfather or use women’s’ right, she might be left alone and no
one will support her even though her mother also will not trust her.
Time and place dimensions(chronosystem)
Sarah is 15 and has been homeless for the past six months. For the past 2 years, she was facing
physical andemotional harassmentandmolestedbyherstepfather. She has lacked with all kinds
of facilitiesof livinglife, she wasliving within her friend house without having any necessities of
life. She didn’t found any support from family specifically from her mother.
She mightgot some friendsif she continue herschooling but her situation was different as when
she thinkto continue herschoolingshe keepshaving flashbacks of the sexual assault, which stop
herfrom beingable tofocuson goingback to school.Thistype of situation might lead her toward
lowself-esteemperson,since she mightbe viewinghelplessandhomeless.Consequently,physical
and mental growth will slow and will change according to the place and time means the way
community behaves.

PartB – Assessmentand Plan Reflection (1500 words)
ConsiderPartA of thisassessment(assessmentandplan),andanswerthe followingquestions:
1) Why did you choose this social work approach? In your answer, make clear
connections between the case study you chose and how literature shows this approach
can support service users experiencing these challenges.
I chose the social work approach because it directly or indirectly assists people in
making positive changes in their lives. The social work approach assists people by
providing a unique and professional strategy to dealing with problems (Webb, 2017).
For example, social work practise involves advocating for people or providing
assistance to those in need (Ungar, 2012), such as genuine assistance following a
relationship breakdown, the effects of an environmental disaster, marginalised
communities or individuals, the impact of poverty, unemployment, and other factors
that affect people emotionally, mentally, and psychologically (Harms,2021). Aside
from that, I am really passionate about assisting others, understanding their
difficulties, and teaching them how to deal with and overcome them. Furthermore, in
Sarah's situation, an aboriginal social emotional wellbeing model was used. This
model identifies the importance and impact of several aspects on people's social and
emotional well-being. According to aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the
social and emotional model encompasses mental health and its impact on social life.
In this scenario, Sarah recognized the impact of being sexually assaulted on her
mental health. Because this paradigm drew attention to the interconnections between
various elements and events (Morley et.al. 2019).
Sarah, who was being harassed sexually and emotionally by her stepfather, left her
home to protect herself. She began to live in an unusual location with few amenities
and no source of income. Her mother didn't believe her storey about being abused and
assaulted by her stepfather, therefore she ended herself homeless. This circumstance
is doing havoc on her in every way. The link between social, spiritual, cultural,
family, and communal connectedness is explained by the social and emotional
wellbeing paradigm. Anxiety, despair, and stress were all linked to a lack of a social
and emotional wellbeing model. Nonetheless, in Sarah's instance, the social work
practise word 'values' was extremely beneficial because it grounded case

management, assisted people in developing their professional abilities, and
contributed to worker rapport building, among other things (Chenoweth &
McAuliffe2018). Social workers have long been concerned with affecting settings,
relationships, and interior experiences in order to encourage good experiences such as
human growth, health, and fulfilment (Gitterman, 2014; Harms 2021)
2) Explain how you have analyzed the ‘environments, relationships and inner
experiences’ throughout your assessment and plan. How did you discuss coping
strategies, risk, and protective factors? How did you explore ‘human growth, health
and satisfaction’?
Environmental relationships are intertwined with human interactions, social systems,
and so on, well-being, social security, basic needs, liberation and choice, and social
relations were severed in Sarah's case shortly after she left her family and began to
live as a refugee with her friend; however, as a social worker planning safety and
protective plans based on my inner experiences (Prowell, 2018), I believed that
building strong and professional relationships would be beneficial. Effective
communication is seen as a critical component of social work practise, since it aids in
diagnosing people with complicated and challenging lives who come from a variety of
backgrounds, experiences, and cultures (Healy 2018). Furthermore, educating her
about society's diversity while also advising her to take control of her family because
she is going through a difficult and unpredictable time, as this may increase the risk of
hunger and arouse limited opportunities such as stress, trauma, poor nutrition, and
negative effects on health and education (Webb, 2017).
3) How has your assessment considered wellbeing and adversity in context? Provide
clear examples from your assessment and plan.
In thisassessment,Ifocusedmore onsocial adversityandSarah'swell-being because she is
already in a critical situation and likely more bad things could happen in his case, such as
child mortality, diseases, and obvious tensions of not having food or a roof over her head,
and she may have lessorno chance of gettingwhatshe isgettingnow due to herinability to

have a steadyincome or anysign of receiving any support, and being a victim of sexual and
emotional harassment. As a result, I'm considering finding her free or low-cost housing, as
well asa job opportunitythatshe'll enjoy,tohelpherbecome self-sufficient and maintain a
healthy balance of wellbeing and education.
4) What are the strengths and limitations of a multidimensional approach to
understanding human development (Harms 2021, p.24)?
People come fromavarietyof spiritual, social andcultural values, soit'sunderstandablethat
they have varied views and conventions about how to see and implement solutions and
practises about different situations (Thompson, 2018). However, a multidimensional
approach to understandingandintegratinghumansocial andemotional well-being is a good
place to start.
