What’s New in Detroit?
• Executives from Oakland and Macomb Counties have blocked the RTA’s
regional transit proposal. The plan, which would add bus rapid transit systems
and commuter rail services in four counties, is now in serious jeopardy of being
left off the ballot this November. The executives cited tax concerns and argued
that all county residents would not be served by the proposed routes. The RTA
has until August 16th
to revise the plan, revote, and submit it to the state.
• Eater Detroit put together a list of places in Detroit to watch the Rio Summer
Olympics. The Olympics start this Friday, August 5th
and go until Sunday August,
21st
. The list of places includes: Tap Sports Bar at the MGM Grand, Detroit Beer
Company, HopCat, and Harry’s Detroit.

supporting the programs and services of Neighborhood Service
