Basketball is a team sport played between two teams of five players on a court. The objective is to score more points than the opposing team by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated above the ground. The game was invented in 1891 by James Naismith in Springfield, Massachusetts. Players advance the ball by dribbling or passing to teammates. Key skills developed in basketball include agility, speed, teamwork, and strength. Equipment needed for basketball includes a ball, basketball shoes, player uniforms, knee pads, and a basketball hoop.

The history of basketball began with its invention in 1891 in
Springfield, Naismith as a less injury-prone sport than

he created the indoor sport to keep athletes indoors during the
winters.
- Using a soccer ball, two peach baskets placed 10 feet up
in the air, nine players on each team, and a set of 13 basic

being injured, as a result of
the wrong position during the
movement. Generally,
basketball players use the pads
on the knees, ankles, and
elbows.
5. Basketball Ring
• The basket consists of a ring
and a net. The rings were
made of hard iron and the
diameter of the rings was 45
centimeters. The ring height is
305 centimeters from the floor
