Akbar the great
1.
2. Akbar was the greatest emperor of the mughal empire
Akbar was born as Abu'l-Fath Jalal ud-din
Muhammad Akbar on October 15, 1542
Akbar was crowned at the age of 13
He spent his youth learning to hunt, run, and fight,
which made him a daring, powerful and a brave
warrior.
He reigned from 1556 to 1605 and extended Mughal
power over most of the Indian subcontinent.
3. In order to preserve the unity of his empire, Akbar
adopted programs that won the loyalty of the non-
Muslim populations of his realm.
He reformed and strengthened his central
administration and also centralized his financial
system and reorganized tax-collection processes.
He asked for peace before any war.
4. Akbar was descended from Turks, Mongols, and Iranians—
the three peoples who predominated in the political elites
of northern India in medivial times. Among his ancestors
were Timur (Tamerlane) and Genghis Khan. His
father, Humāyūn,, driven from his capital of Delhi by the
Afghan usurper Shēr Shah of Sūr, was vainly trying to
establish his authority in the Sindh region
(now Sindh province, Pakistan). Soon Humāyūn had to
leave India for Afghanistan and Iran, where the shah lent
him some troops. Humāyūn regained his throne in 1555, 10
years after Shēr Shah’s death. Akbar, at the age of 13, was
made governor of the Punjab region (now largely occupied
by Punjab state, India, and Punjab province, Pakistan).
5. The Dīn-i-Ilāhī, known during its time as Tawḥīd-i-
Ilāhī or Divine Faith, was a syncretic religion or
spiritual leadership program propounded by Akbar in
1582, intending to merge some of the elements of the
religions of his empire, and thereby reconcile the
differences that divided his subjects and stop fights
between hindu and muslim people.
6. Akbar built many monuments in Delhi and Agra.
Some were built for protection, like Agra Fort, and
some were built due to his love of architecture like
Fatehpur Sikri, Buland Darwaza, Humayun's Tomb,
Jodhabai Palace, and Akbar's Tomb. Akbar constructed
his tomb during his life time.
