JOB OBJECTIVE:
To obtain a position as an offshore Crane Operator, Successful completion of the
course and test participants should be able to:
 Select and inspect appropriate lifting gear
 Understand and carry out Crane Operator rules, duties and responsibilities
 Perform daily pre-used inspection for the electronic safety device. Visually
Check on Load Weight, indicators, Function Test of all limit switches,
cables, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in cranes
 Carry out Preventive Maintenance tasks on the cranes and components
equipments. Maintain log of all maintenance records
 Understand the crane maintenance procedures, troubleshooting and checking
electronic devices hook limit switch and boom upper and lower limit
switch, etc.
 Inspect wire rope and identify defects, report it to the supervisor
 Inspect all cargo and load cargo containers prior to pick-up and sling
shackles taglines are in correct position and lifted loads are clear of
obstructions balance and properly secured with taglines
 Understand the personal in materials, transfer procedures from the rig to
the Supply Vessel
2.  Understand the lifting procedures around the rig deck and to the supply
vessel and communicate with the control room barge supervisor for the
balancing of the rig
 Understand and carry out Banksman duties. Inspect cargo and cargo sling
shackles are correct position prior to lifting and stop immediately during
unsafe condition. Briefing and debriefing
 Working in Turkey and Benin, Rotterdam Netherland, Cabinda Angola,
Gabon, Congo, Africa at the Noble Project and Transocean Sedneth 701
operate crane kenz 100 tons capacity and national crane 70 tons also
Sedco 700 operate crane kenz 100 tons capacity and national crane 70
tons floating Simi Submersible Rig and able to working on a drill ship
where dynamic positioning. I can manage during the rough sea and operate
the rig’s crane in a safe and efficient manner, and in accordance to
company policies and procedures.
 Working on the jack-off rig
 Working on the diving vessel construction boat operate telescopic crane
capacity 150 tons
 Working platform, crane barge on chevron oil company in Cabinda Angola
project
 Working on the dredging and dumping operation, making deep and dumping
the stone
 Location in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan operate the dredging barge crane
of capacity 350 tons, 250 tons, 80 tons
 Working at the maintenance jack-off barge in Saudi Aramco Oil Company,
Dhahran Saudi Arabia operate crane American 250 tons crawler and
petibon telescopic crane 50 tons
 I will use the safety tools provided by Transocean
 I will help other crew members
 I will not turn a blind eye to safety
 I will call TOFS if I think it’s necessary I Will perform PM on cranes and
report any defects to supervisors.
3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Provide Roustabouts with relevant instructions for current and
forthcoming operations.
 Partake in pre job meeting prior to all non-routine deck operations.
 Inspect all lifting equipment prior to use, i.e. slings, straps, shackles, wire
ropes, et cetera.
 Ensure lifted loads are clear of obstructions, balanced, and properly secured
with tag lines.
 Operate the crane as required for running casing/riser, picking up or laying
down tubular, placement of equipment and supplies, et cetera.
 Operate the crane as required for transferring personnel and materials to
and from supply boats.
 Act as Helicopter Landing Officer supervising the transit of passengers,
baggage, freight and refueling operations.
 Notify the Deck Pusher or Barge Supervisor prior to lifting or transferring
heavy equipment or materials that may affect the rig’s stability.
 Assist the Barge Supervisor and Deck pusher during rig moves and anchor
running and retrieving operations.
 Assist with the replacement and installation of mooring lines and bulk fill
lines.
 Perform safety inspection on gauges, indicators, limit
 Carry out Preventive Maintenance tasks on the cranes and components
equipment. Maintain log of all maintenance to the record book.
 Assist the Deck Pusher in organizing decks for efficient and safe operation.
 Maintain a clean and organized main deck and pipe deck.
 Assist in keeping a running inventory of slings and lifting equipment in use.
Advise the Barge Supervisor of shortages or damaged slings.
 Assist third party service personnel in picking up and moving equipment
for special operations.
 Maintain good communication with the Roustabouts, Deck Pusher and
Barge Supervisor.
 Assist to maintain accurate records of all equipment loaded onto and off
the rig.
4. QHSE:
 Assist the Barge Supervisor during safety drills and emergency situations as
per designation on station bill.
 Ensure all tools and equipment are properly stowed when not in use
promptly clean up spills and accumulated wastes, and take all necessary
measures to eliminate trip hazards.
 Observe proper rig operating procedures. Report unsafe practices, any
incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situation to supervisor.
 Assist in preparing Job Safety Analysis for hazardous situations.
 Actively participate in the weekly safety meeting and other safety
management system issues.
PERSONNEL:
 Meets the training requirements as per the applicable training matrix
 Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent
work at their next job level. Training to include but not limited to proper
rigging, materials handling and techniques, and painting procedures.
 Assist in development of annual performance appraisals for Assistant Crane
Operator and Roustabout. Recommend promotion or disciplinary action up
to and including discharge.
