2. Introduction
• Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the management of the flow
of goods and services and includes all processes that transform raw
materials into final products. It involves the active streamlining of a
business's supply-side activities to maximize customer value and
gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. SCM represents
an effort by suppliers to develop and implement supply chains that
are as efficient and economical as possible.
• Education sector is a service-based industry, so Ellram, Tate and
Billington (2004), define Supply Chain Management as the
management of information, processes, service performance and
funds from the earliest supplier to the ultimate customer”
• Across the globe, organizations are starting to recognize the
strategic importance of SCM. More and more organizations in both
the public and private sectors are realizing the value of SCM plays in
ensuring they can deliver on all aspects of their value chain.
3. Why SCM?
• Supply Chain Management (SCM) becomes
increasing important in ensuring the attainment of
the vision-mission of higher education institutions in
this challenging environment. In doing so, it becomes
mandatory for them to ensure that the structure
they will be using will not only be in compliance of
the school policies but also in effective, efficient way
of providing services needed by their clienteles and
that is providing quality education.
4. Company Overview
• Kalinga State University is the only government higher
education institution that caters Educational services in the
province of Kalinga. It is mandated to provide advanced
instruction in arts, agricultural and natural sciences as well as
in technological and professional fields and to
promote/undertake the conduct of scientific researches and
technological studies.
• It offers different Graduate Degree Programs, Undergraduate
Programs, Two-Year Programs and Senior and Junior High
School.
• It has three campuses situated in Bulanao (Main Campus),
Dagupan, Rizal, Kalinga. The main campus is located at Purok
6, National Road, Bulanao, Tabuk City Kalinga.

10. Curriculum Development and Review
- Every time there are changes or developments
happening around the world, the school curricula are
affected so there is a need to update them to
address society’s needs.
- KSU has Curriculum Review and Evaluation
Committee to be set up at the College’s levels to
periodically assess the responsiveness and relevance
or curricular offerings, to propose necessary
revisions, and to develop and propose new relevant
curricular programs for endorsement to the
Academic Council.
12. Society (Job Market)
• The core value plan of any higher education
institution is to attract students, support them, and
provide them with the best education. This is to:
a. Ensure them to be competitive in the job
market
b. Become active and productive members of
the society.
c. Meet and match industry demand with a
competent and globally competitive
workforce.
d. Increase the quality of human capital and
productivity vis-à-vis national and economic
progress.
17. Conclusion
• Every organizations are required to ensure that they continue
to increase their current levels higher. KSU, as one institution
in the higher education sector is not an exception which
means that higher education institutions need to continuously
look for ways to attain their goals and objective while
efficiently managing their direct and indirect budget. It shows
that Supply Chain Management (SCM) can be a significant
tool to attain this by assisting them to become leaner while
also staying true to their main vision, mission, goals and
objectives.
• It also becomes clear that Supply Chain Management (SCM)
plays a vital role in creating and maintaining the value chain
within institutions of higher learning and can also act as a
mechanism in addressing its difficulties which is one priority
of many higher education institutions.
