- 2. Background In Dec. 2012 – Feb.2013, Camosun Piping Department Foundations (Pre-apprenticeship) Programs undertook the process of Program Review and Renewal (PRR)
- 3. Development of online textbooks • We began exploring options for creating customized textbooks • We talked to major publishers as well as government. • Primary concerns from our PRR were: Cost Compatibility with assistive learning technology Portability Up to date
- 4. Development of open online textbooks Outdated Common Core Textbooks New Trades Access Common Core Open Textbooks
- 5. Core analysis was done of the following BC trades program outlines • Automotive Mechanic • Carpenter • Electrician • Gasfitter • Plumber • Sheet metal worker • Sprinkler System Installer • Steam/Pipefitter • Welder
- 7. What are Open Educational Resources? • Open textbooks • Images • Videos • Course materials • Lesson plans • Software • Games • Simulations • Wikis • Blogs • Adaptive tests
